I am 70 and the only canning I ever did was meat and jellies. I am back into it now full force, thanks to Marie, HOMESTEAD HEART. She is teaching me what my mom never taught me!
I don’t understand how this video got a 👎! How are people not willing to accept being educated on anything!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! Many of us truly appreciate you 💪🏾💪🏾👍🏾👍🏾❤️.
Cleanliness at home is the way to go. Stock up on yeast, baking soda, flour, salt, and sugar! next hit the produce aisle and get cucumbers, celery, peppers (especially red), romaine lettuce, green onions you can cut and freeze those veggies. Save the roots and seeds and replant! Get your citrus save seeds, cut and freeze
I know that this is an old video, but I just want you to know I do watch your video but not every day I have to much going on, I'm a one women farmer that I still think I'm young lol (60) I should have listened when I was younger not to rush growing up LOL... I just want to say I just love you and I would love it, if someone like you lived next door from me..... Every video I watch of your's I can feel the goodness in you.. You are a blessing to You Tube and anyone who watches, Thank You!
You are so joyful patient and positive. I am recommending this playlist to all the youngsters that ask me to help them learn canning, food storage, and housekeeping skills. Lots of folks never learned these skills from their mothers or grandmothers. Many have come to me to help them learn the basics of sewing, general housekeeping, gardening, keeping a small layer flock, putting by food. Apparently these are becoming lost arts? I'm happy to share what I've learned with those that wish to learn, but I'm not getting any younger. You are much younger and you do a fantastic job of making these videos. Thank you for sharing! Please remain blessed and stay safe.
You would make a great Girl Scout Leader. I was a leader and loved it but now I’ve opted to be a facilitator teaching outdoor skills knots, and flag ceremonies. I’ve given thought to teaching Life Skills to teens (female and male). I’m talking about teaching cooking, baking, food preservation, laundry, general housekeeping, grocery shopping, budgets, how to write a check, etc. I believe our young people are no longer being taught in school.
I know what you mean about your hens🤗 I have 17 hens and two female ducks, and I get nearly two dozen of eggs🥚🥚daily. Just gave 10 dozen to the elderly Saturday.
My grandmother always put the back yard home grown tomatoes in jars every end of summer. I really miss those jars of tomatoes. Maybe I can learn how to do that watching your videos. This is my first time discovering your videos. Thanks for sharing your canning tips! 🌞
Praise God for His goodness! Your luffa is gorgeous and I hope it yields so much fruit that you are trying to find places to store them! Rich blessings on you and Mr. H. Y'all are hard working and God honoring. You have taught me so much! Thank you!
In Canada, we have the same panic here. There is hardly anything on the shelves.I ask myself the same question. How are they going to preserve all this food if there is no electricity? Thankfully I live on a small farm and I can say we are fully prepared for anything that come. Electricity or no electricity. Canning is my go to for my family for many years. Looking forward to watching the series. Presently I am preserving green seasoning.
Just stumbled upon your channel-I'm binge watching as we travel through Texas! When I get home I'll be adding some of your stuff to my growing pantry. Thanks for sharing.
You are so adorable and your willingness to share is heartwarming. So grateful! My goal is to preserve 50 lbs of jerky and plenty of canning. I'm putting the jerky in my freezer instead of the raw meat.
Today is June 20. I just found one of your videos and I'm trying to catch up; goodness knows there's nothing on TV to watch much anymore 🙁. I was born in 1951. We didn't have electricity more than we did have it, so mama didn't depend on it. She insisted her kids learn what to do and be prepared for anything that came along. I always have enough to feed me and my husband and a couple others if needed for a year. Now after the 3 month mark or so it's gonna get thin and we might have to eat what might not be our favorite, but it will fill an empty spot. My favorite thing mama canned that people have kitten fits about now was squirrel. Fry enough for supper and can the rest. Open a jar, bring it to a boil and drop in a few dumplings. We thought we were eatin' high on the hog; we didn't know that was all she had to feed us. I was joking as I watched a young doe in the edge of our field, about a month ago, 'You don't need to be getting that close lady; ain't you seen the news'. My favorite old book, which has been 'modernized' in later versions, is Putting Food By. I look forward to watching your videos. Hope I learn something I don't know and if I have something to share, I hope you don't mind 🙂
So its been about a month now and I have done jelly jam, beef stew, pears, salsa, tomato sauce, apple butter, pickled watermelon rind, chow chow, pickled cucumbers and onions and yes even the butter... started some tomato and bell pepper plants and also in the process of making strawberry vinegar. It has been so enjoyable and I have you to thank for it. Looking for some farm raised veggies to can and then some meat, but gotta be cost effective or gifted to me
