By posting this quote what I intend to say is that we have to recognise the fact that neither of those two (Rancho, Chatur) have the right approach towards defining things; Chatur is cramming everything up without understanding any of it, whereas the issue with Rancho's approach is that he is a little _too oversimplistic_: he is giving a definition that does not even entirely define the thing that it sets-out to define.

As a teacher, I encourage my students not to go by text book definition at all times. There's a huge difference between memorizing and understanding. It's always nice to hear a student speaking from his/her knowledge not based on books alone.

Machine is a working arrangement of somethings like wheels, levers, and other parts, operated by human power or electricity, used for a particular purpose, and made humans lives better and easier.
Meaning of the word “Machine”
Machine is something that make our lives better and easier, we use it in many ways, computers, vehicles, zips, sewing, those are machines.
So, the word “Definition” means an explanation of the exact meaning of a word or phrase, whilst the word “Meaning” means the sense in which a statement, action, word etc. is intended to be understood.
In fact, the children should be taught meaning, not memorise the definitions.
If we see Definition is nothing but complex explanation of meaning..

Because if there was a good teacher, he might ask second guy to explain what is difference between his one and the first guy's one. So all students in class room could understand the difference between definition and meaning, and the value of definition.

depends on how you use the machine... lets take tricep pushdown machine for example..literally picking up that weight and doing up down with your arms is 10x difficult than doing it with the tricep machine...same take weighted discs with barbells for bench presses... doing bench press with 100 kg weight without barbell is impossible and impracticle rather than doing it with a barbell..thats how those machines reduce human effort.. the concept of load fulcrum wffort applies properly on all gyming equipments ..... machines are not about applying zero effort...we will have to give an input to gain an output..machines are about to put that input in a praticle way or gain advantage from it

no... none of my classes have a Chatur. Maybe a really smart person, but definitely not someone who memorizes indefinitely. Besides, I myself am considered one of the top students in my science, english and math classes because I am engaged. Chatur is definitely a fictional character that relates to real life but people should not assume that there are Chaturs everywhere that every person has had to put up with.

This is what EVERY school in the world were missing. Teachers only dish out informations from the book and expect students to memorize or understand it without actually trying to understand student themselves if they are catching up to the lesson or not
I wouldn't say every school. In my school,teachers are very anti cram and want us to actually learn the information
Memorisation is definitely inevitable in education, but now, more emphasis has been placed on understanding information, inferences etc, imo
