@UCPpViTxIceRgkSXeLXv5Ccw well, in his defense, I think the units that RR were sent, as well as the units other reviewers have had now for months, we're actually pre-release units and didn't have all the hardware and firmware finalized yet. it appears the actual goggles to be released in their final stages will have an analog input on them, which is a great option. 👍

Having viewed about a hundred+ FPV videos over the past few months, trying to learn about what I want to be my new hobby, I was about to pull the trigger on a TBS Oblivion RTF package to get me into the air and learning to fly at a beginner level (half the price of this DJI package), but the sheer quality and sleekness of DJI has me knowing that I'd much rather have HD footage. It looks great and for someone who literally is starting from scratch, I could justify the expensive price. The only downside for me at least, is that I still have to source and build a quad and literally have no idea how to solder or build. If the quad came with this package, I'd buy it as a RTF solution, based on what I've just seen. I'll wait for more reviews meantime and continue saving money.

The DJI goggles seem clunky, have light leak issues, and also look heavy. The radio also looks very basic. Current top of the line radios are $100 cheaper and have voice alerts, timers, ability to change sticks, easy way to switch models that most FPV pilots have and use. I totally agree with LD Silva that we need a module bay receiver for Fatshark. DJI will still get adoption on the camera/transmitter while they can work on better goggles, maybe we will eventually switch. Otherwise this is gonna be another niche product.

This looks like an amazing package and is absolutely game changing, but many of us are just not willing to give up the ability to use interchangeable video systems. Locking consumers down to a walled garden is fine when you can provide them value they wouldn't otherwise have, but we already have the value of interchangeable display/VRXs. I'm sold! I was early adopter of connex. This is huge in my opinion. Drone racing and lack of live HD for flying and spectating really stifled the industry. I'm so sick of watching ancient analog video that looks like security cam footage from the year 2000. I'm not into prerecorded events with HD afterwords. Live HD in the moment with raw unscripted emotions is where it's at. It what really pushed live sports and gaming industry. Broadcasting over the entire world in good quality.
Live HD action sport, live HD drone racing, live HD freestyle, live HD cinewhoop events and the list goes on.
Also the goggles look like a Halo helmet so I love the look. I believe in a future fw update it will pick up ancient analog 5.8. But for now they are pushing HD and getting most people to buy it for that.

well the issue is the digital FPV market is alot worse and DJI's all in one solution is thus far the best answer. DJI could most definitely put a video transcoder into the controller and offer an HDMI output offering more options that way the real issue with doing that is possibly more latency and possibly more expensive controller system.
i know people would still complain about that however.. some people would complain about it just cuz its DJI and whatever.
