I am a huge fan of Star Trek, and Leonard Nimoy really nailed the role of Mr. Spock! Truly authentic, and a fantastic actor!! It's very nice to see this!! :)
I googled the "What Has Sheraton Done For You Lately?" commercial. As soon as I heard the jingle I realized it was Dana. And I thought I remembered every commercial from the 60s, 70s and 80s...
This episode reminds me of a 1955 version with John Daly he if I remember correctly he was a Canadian mountie which after Arlene removed her mask then and the others were still blindfolded she made comments on the garb the mountie was wearing kinda similar to this person here
I always hated when they did the demonstrations of what the guests did, because it took away so much question time. The older versions, you had more time to question but the 1972+ versions they would keep demonstrating and before you know it, Larry or Wally would be saying..... 30 seconds left and they got nowhere.
I couldn't agree more. A lot of interviewers interrupt, prompt for quick answers. The disgraced Charlie Rose, and most broadcasters today-not all-don't know their craft. Bill Buckley, Cronkite, were in a different class. Dick Cavett was quite good.
Caveat liked to go on and on even though he could get guests to share about various things at length. But personally, I wanted Cavett to shut up and let the guest speak uninterrupted.
While nice I think we really did not to see what they did. The longer questioning was what the game was all about and the show did eventually fall by the wayside
My goodness, the intelligent questioning of Arlene compared to the clueless questions of the other panelists is startling. This new version is almost unwatchable if you're familiar with the original.
This version of WML seems so cheesy and boring. The original was classy and fun. The panel here seems dull and lacks the camaraderie of previous iterations of the show.
The set reminds me of a circus. The panel is hurriedly introduced. I hate to see Arlene with this group. The original panel and show far outclassed the syndicated version.
I had the great privilege of meeting Leonard Nimoy. He was really a great guy. I still have his signed book of poetry he gave me.
I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Nimoy as well. Very nice man.
Love Leonard Nimoy's voice, so authoritative.
He should sound like it..he was a Staff Sargeant when in military😊

The Bagpipe Player sure is handsome! So is Leonard Nimoy.
I like the old format of the mystery guest segment better.
In 2023 what Leonard Nimoy said about science fiction becoming reality holds up today.
I have been reading a book about Mr. Nimoy's life and career as it was written by his friend, William Shatner and it is a very good book!
Actually in November 1974 Nimoy had a show on the air; the animated version of "Star Trek" which was pretty good!

Yea...but I think it's more fun

I have to agree

poor arleen francis...going from classy bennet cerf, dorothy killgallen and the impeccable john daly to this hodgepodge mess...
Absolutely! She is still the sharpest of the panel. Unfortunately, I see she eventually died of Alzheimer’s disease. No sign of it here.

Yes, Arlene possessed a talent for this show and her approach in questioning.
Host gives up too many clues.
Yes at times
Love Leonard Nimoy. Not a fan of this version of WML. 😷
Agreed, the older versions were much better, Leonard Nimoy was a a fantastic entertainer and a class act!
In the long shot I thought the blonde was Lynda Day George
Was In Search Of on at this time?
No, that didn't air until 1977. I watched it every week as a kid.
@@radiocameron 1976 but close enough.....
@@radiocameron You still have get to acquire an adult name!
@@radiocameronI love In Search Of and also watched every week.

Good point. Watered down, actually the show was dying. The original had intelligent panellists, was prime time and drew huge ratings.
I agree, but I am still watching as many as I can. Seeing Leonard Nimoy is a great treat.

The guy immediately thought the blonde was a prostitute
12:10 WOW! HOW RUDE AND CONDESCENDING!
These version of the show sucked
Was Bert Parks a closet queen? I can't find any information about his private life and he seems effeminate.
I agree, but he was married and had twin sons. Possibly bisexual??
