- In this video I take you through what a ‘vintage’ is and the factors that will affect whether a vintage will be successful or not.
I will also be providing you with a rundown of popular vintages from the last 20 years for various regions globally, to help you understand which years were successfully. This is particularly useful if you are looking to buy a special bottle and what to get a good year.
As noted in the video this is a guide only and your buying decision should be based on a number of factors, not the least of which is your own personal choice. Some winemakers are going to be able to product great wines year on year. The vintages I have included in this video are generally considered to be better from a broader winemaking perspective.

You are the best, thank you and good luck with your channel!
Thankyou so much. Very kind
Great information. Can you do in detail about Australian wine industry
my educated guess is an update for 2018/19 would not be amiss
Great video. Thanks for sharing. How long can I cellar a 2015 Rioja? Is it good for 10 or 15 years?
Yes Rioja have some good aging properties. My 2005 is ready to drink about now so it's been good for 15 years.
With so many regions is there a resource one can check out to learn what is the best vintages for any region? - or do you have to try to track the weather patterns throughout the entire world?
It's something I was able to get through The Wine Society. They had a vintage guide on their website. Other than that it's staying close to the news
I have this at home from Amazon. Just waiting for the right time to open - Warre's LBV Port Wine 2007. I also have
Krohn Colheita 2007 Vintage Tawny Port 75cl in the basket. Good to know which years to look out for. Good work GE :)
Good choice.
I like a nice 2021 Franzia.
Amazing guide for newbie like me.
Glad it helped
Well done video, mate. I think Masseto 1997 was excellent.
