Maybe not for the post office but for delivery trucks that wouldn't be familiar with the area, like Sears or J C Penny and the like. I think official post office keys are stamped as such. 100 years ago maybe customers would pay a fee,get a key, then make the trip occasionally to see if their stuff arrived. Half the fun of watching MD vids is guessing possibilities,at least it is for me. My old brain will get stuck on a subject and just keep going. Yyyyaaaagh! Let me out of here!! LOL. JK. Good video man. Liked.
Thank you OJQI, I think about the finds all the time. How they got there? How long where they there, stuff like that. I'm glad you enjoyed my video and I have an old brain just like yours. lol
You now have enough keys to make a very nice wind chime...
Great idea Sue, never would have thought of that. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Dimes and pennies were not the insignificant sum that they are today.I believe that you could buy a steak dinner for about 5 cents around the turn of the century(1900).Even a penny had some buying power in those days.
You are so right Ralph. I can't imagine what it was like back then if you lost a half or silver dollar.
i would go back after they were done for sure!! they will scrape the top garbage off or at least stir up the pot!! HH.. GL.. T..
Absolutely I will, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
That dime is in really good condition
Thanks David, I was very surprised it was that nice. Thanks for stopping by.
congrats on the barber
Thank you Brenda. It was my best find that day.
New subscriber here. How far out do you guys go when netal detecting? I am 95 miles from Fennimore. Living on a century owned farm with basement dating to the 1860's. And a half a mike ftom an 1834 homestead as well. Both places had fires during their lifetime. If your not interested do you know of someone in the Freeport Illinois area I could contact?
Stephen That is so kind to offer to have me detect your homestead. That is a little far for a day trip. I am sure you have metal detectorists in your area that would love to detect there. If you want to keep what they find just let them know that before they come out to detect. Good luck.
@@SWWisconsinMetalDetecting Thanks much. I've got to get it done in the next few months or forget the whole thing. Moving from this area and will never return.
those keys look like PO Box size keys . May be why there are so many
Great idea David, I had not thought about that. Thank you for watching and commenting on my video.

One of the residents must have been a custodian or property manager, and when they retired they just threw that whole key ring out the back door.

I think both your thoughts are correct Steven. lol
Great hunt especially as trashy as it was
Thanks so much Joe. I didn’t find much up near the house, I had to get pretty far from it. But hey, if I’m swinging I’m happy. Best of luck to you when you go out.
That ring goes on an oil lamp i think.
I think you may be right, thanks so much Christina.
I laughed at your coin joke
I’m glad yo did, I was afraid very few would get the joke. Thanks so much for watching my video and commenting.
