- TBM Avenger torpedo bombers start, taxi, and fly on Friday at the 2021 TBM Avenger Reunion at Illinois Valley Airport in Peru, IL. The event saw 10 of these rare warbirds sharing the same ramp, plus other warbird and GA participants.

How my father would have loved to see this. He flew these in the Pacific theatre, fir the Navy. I miss him so much.

Love the Avenger. That "White 41" was stunning to me.
OMG! TBM Avenger #95. That was the number on the plane my uncle was shot down in while flying a mission off the Yorktown (CV-10). He was an Avenger gunner in VT-1 and #95 was shot down by AA fire on June 20, 1944, while glide bombing a Japanese carrier. He was considered MIA for a year and then KIA, June 20, 1945.

How do you know that they are all TBM, and none are TBF?
Be that its a seagoing bird, the Avenger reminds me of a big Albatross when it tucks @3:13and spreads @4:05 its wings.

Tom was also used as a navy cod plane by vr24cod detachment in Naples airport for fleet support delivery flew many hours in them as crew mail passengers light cargo in torpedo well
holy shit, my dad took me to an airshow when i was 2 years old, and theres a picture of me sitting on a tbm avenger in our old photo album...
