I think the not stackable here mean the buff itself cannot be inflicted twice, that's work for slow, drowning and despair too. So technically speaking, despair still stack with vulnerable perchance

And Kurumi already has 50% slow, which is cap of Drowning, so those share part of code as well. Drowning is usefull only in leaderboard runs, but in DMG grind Butterfly Guard + Kurumi replace via versatility and effects. Tho Shanks isn't the substitute for Drowning here. It should rather be Category Buffers, because those atleast stack

i haven't fully tested myself whether bringing more stall or more damage debuffs is better but i've also had a fairly easy time farming damage using DFL and Vizard Captain, instead of Drowning and Vulnerable.

A good sub for the drowning unit is Giyu Tomioka's evo, as his buff made him a pretty reliable drowning unit. As he is ALSO a full AOE
