Let me tell you guys something. I refused to pay mortgage interest too, but what i did 20 years ago was start buying gold with any savings I had for that month... Now I can buy a house cash, because Gold has gone up 3x as much. The GBP on other hand has lost its value quite a lot, and properties have stagnated, some up & some down. Am looking for house now. The rent has not been easy for 20 years. I plan on buying a house on auction that is run down or burned etc. Fix it up myself and sell it (i can plaster, flooring, tiling, electrician, plumbing, paint, wallpaper etc)... I plan on doing this many times until i have at least 3 properties to rent out - then i will move out to pakistan, where I do have 5 marla plot and 5 acres of fertile land already. I plan on selling the 5 marla and 5 acre land - put more money in and get plot in Islamabad. When i and my wife pass away we will leave the 4 properties to my 4 kids. Inshallah, WIN-WIN.

Been watching your vlogs from the beginning of you adventures in Pakistan, Farhan. I have to say that the 1st few videos were gold, IMHO. I loved the living on budget ones best.
I really hope it all works out. I always thought that if you can manage the weather, get through one year, you will be able to say to yourself, 'it is just rinse and repeat from here on out' and practically you will know in your heart that it is possible.
A lot of people might come on your comment sections with toxicity, saying it will not work out eventually. Well whatever happens, you will have gained your respective reward with Allah SWT, no matter what and in this life, you managed to live some part of your life in more of an Islamic environment and that was the objective, right???

    السلام عليكم
I believe the fatwa given for one mortgage is now invalid. That fatwa was given by a shaykh from S.Africa back in the days (don't remember exactly when, but I think it was 60's/70's.) And there were many conditions tied to that fatwa (I.e. it cannot be beyond what you need. So, if you only need three bedrooms, you can't buy a property with 10 bedrooms, etc etc.)
Nowadays there are many mortgage alternatives in the UK that are shariah compliant.
    ما شاء الله تبارك الله
I'm glad you avoided the mortgage and saved yourself and your family!
May Allah protect you & your family and place many blessings in your life. Ameen.

Home is where heart is. It is good you feel at home in Pakistan. Enjoy it before it is all gone. People have different life experiences and make decisions accordingly. If you found the UK stressful, then Pakistan may be relatively less stressful for you. Although Pakistan is not the best place in the world--not even by a long shot--you are close to your family members there which should be the most important consideration in one's decision making process. My hunch is most overseas Pakistanis are put off by uncertainty and instability in Pakistan. One doesn't know what tomorrow will bring, especially when one listens to the incessant negative news about an unending saga of crisis after crisis. For me, the major considerations are the rule of law, justice, and a clean environment; and, to my chagrin, all these three elements receive little or no respect in Pakistan. It goes without saying that no society can be called civilized if serious attention and respect is not given to these basic elements. Hence Pakistan is not my cup of tea. I am enjoying life in Sheffield where I am a community volunteer helping senior citizens. I also own a lucrative business employing 20 people. I am grateful to the UK for welcoming me as an immigrant from a small and remote rural village in Pakistan. Life is good here.

Even this is all true, though, we beg to differ. Even it is all true, this does not constitute a small percentage of the benifits of being a Muslim in the lands of Islam.
      Nothing beats:
      - being a Muslim walking on the streets & hearing the azan and seeing people saying Asalam O AlaikumAlaikum, you reply Walaikum Aasalam
      - in knowing that the meat we're eating is halal and we don't have to doubt it. So all restaurants are halal for us to eat.
      - in feeling, those around us share the same AQEEDA. They worship one true Lord Who's Allah the Almight, they follow the Sunnah of Prophet PBUH
      - we feel the tranquility, the peace where we live
All the scholars agreed that Migrating from a Muslim country to a Non Muslim country is haram unless it be for education or for the purpose of Dawa. For education purpose, you go, acquire education and come back. No problem! Or you go there as not a part time Da'i but a full time Da'i to deliver the message, then the scholars say it is permissible. But if people just shift from a Muslim land to a Non Muslim land for a better living, it is not permitted at all.
So if we weigh the pros & cons, nothing beats being in a Muslim country even if we're in the Scandinavian countries or in highly modernized civilized countries. As a Muslim, that is not our place, we do not fit there and this is not racist in any ways, this is something related to our conviction & belief. So living in such Kaffir countries has its own merits, no arguments in that but at the same time it comes at a very high cost, which real Muslims would not be willing to pay. We would not jeopardize our Children's Islam and safety just for the sake of a passport while we can stay in our Muslim countries, yes, may be a bit poor, not that highly educated, the infrastructure is not up to mark, corruption in the Government, insecurity in the terms of justice etc. but still we are Muslims, living among the Muslims
There has been constant and endless attack on Islam in the west so why are so many Muslims are aspiring to go or choosing to stay there when they are able to move to a Muslim country? It is not just the media targeting to Muslims now, it's now even happening in the streets in broad day light. Muslims are facing acid attacks, Mosques being targeted, physical & verbal abuse. Are those countries safe for us to live & raise our Children? Now, more than ever Muslims need seriously consider relocating to a Muslims country

@@sahsgz Do you consider Pakistan an Islamic society? What is Islamic about it? Is Islam being practiced in the true sense? One has to be naive to believe that Pakistan is a Muslim country. The fact is Pakistan has never been an Islamic country. No doubt, people living in Pakistan call themselves Muslims, but that is their official identity. Their character, their attitude, their stratified social order, massive corruption in society, violence, injustice, rubbish-strewn streets, hypocrisy, sectarianism, and many many more ills are the result of ignoring the teachings of Islam. People who do not follow Islam in their daily lives have no right to call their country a Muslim country. Besides, Muslims living in the West who obey laws are not complaining. In contrast, thousands of young Pakistanis are complaining and find Pakistan unlivable and fleeing the country in droves. The question is why is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan failing to offer opportunities to its youth. The answer is that words like Islam and Muslim are reduced to mere political slogans. The reality is different.

My father has a house there too but currently a dispute going on around house, land etc. We live on rent in the uk, currently £800 per month.
Is £500 a week a lot of money in rupees? What would that cover?
The alternative is to stay in the uk, pay rent and dream about buying a house which is highly unlikely, I dont want to be lumbered with a mortgage.

I wish you to rethink on making preferences between setteling here for life, because you might have children, and i really feel for their future. There's so much to learn and get the best education in world that youth in Pakistan just cannot get access despite being immensely potentiated. My heart goes out to thinking and seeing the talent and potential going to the dumps just because of economy, and the regressive things our peers value here.

In the F area there are many shops which import UK products and since the vale of the rupee is down and the pound is high I would advise that if u are planning to move to Pakistan it might be good to have a business running in the UK or a income stream in the UK.
There are lots of opportunities to set up call centres or back offices with signing contracts with UK companies and having all their marketing/sales offices etc in Pakistan.

Hi Br. Is it possible for you to register a company in Pakistan. Minimum amount maximum people. equivalent of at least one house price. .
Once one member move in house he or she can pay minimum eqivlant of rent amount which would be multi fold to initial payments
You can buy more houses in coming weeks and months keeping ownership on company name until all price paid off.
Instead of charging interest you charge the resident members service charge along with ownership money.
The quicker they pay back the ownership less service charge they have to pay.
Service charge is your income. Rest is your pool amount which will grow bigger as resident number will grow.
2 step payment process one before becoming resident 2nd after becoming resident. No cap on amount you pay back as long no money Laundereing.
No cash handling. Only bank to bank transfer.
Any Loopholes you can think of can be added up as pre Requisist condition to sign for as Legally binding contract with your Legal team.
One window service only your legal team .convancing team and Accountant service.
All member would pay as per use . Team will establish a standard format to deal whole process up to completion ie house get transfered to customers name after completing payment of house price

@SK-iy3vi Good quetion. The majority of overseas Pakistanis choose Islamabad to reside. As it's not congested and there is lower pollution compared to Karachi and Lahore.
It's similar to the West in terms of greenery and road layout. They have adopted the grid format, similar to New York.
But generally, we all live in different places. The majority of those living in Islamabad. They actually don't have family there.
Although there are many that live in their villages, Town & cities where their grandparents once lived.
Everyone has their own preferences when they move back to Pakistan. Including me, I don't live in Islamabad either.

Living off british monies anyone can afford a comfy life in Pakistan. You keep emphasising that you don’t like life in Britain. But like most ppl you do like the British pound. Your experience would be quite different if you were to find a local job and actually tried to integrate into Pakistani life & interact with locals. No offence. I wish you luck but the life you are selling isn’t about being a proud Pakistani. It’s about being neither fully proud British nor Pakistani. Just picking the perks. It would be great if you could offer a response and not dismiss this as a hate comment (it is just an honest observation).
