Janus Kinase inhibitors (JAK inhibitors or jakinibs) are orally available drugs that constitute a new category of treatment known as targeted synthetic DMARDs (tsDMARDs). Jakinibs inhibit signalling transmission from a variety of cytokine & haematopoietic growth factor receptors. With advances in the understanding of cell signalling pathways, we can target small molecules associated with intracellular signal transduction.
