I appreciate you always trying new techniques and experimenting. I don’t understand how some people do only one technique and that’s it. Your white paint was so fluffy but I think it looks good. The gold really dresses it up. Thanks Garrick!!
Garrick, thank you for doing all the experiments! Especially since you always share your winning recipes. Why this happened will probably wake you up in the middle of the night when you have moved on to another experiment... that's what happens to me. The gold leaf will look perfect! 😊✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
😜 Recipe for the ghost white: 1 Part Artists Loft Flow Acrylic White 1 Part Deco Art Satin Enamels 1 Part GAC 800 1 Part U.S. Floetrol
Hello Garrik, i have done this many times since last March. I use Sigma satin enamel, vallejo pearl medium, Amsterdam white and owatrol. Works wonders!
FYI... I use a small blob of blu tack on the tips of those little squeeze bottles. It works great for keeping air out so your paints won't dry out when storing. :)
I have a medical background and some of paintings look like the results of obstructive series which shows the bowels with gas in them, lol! Having said that, I really like these ghost pours. The gold really makes it pop
WOW! I’m not surprised you decided to unlock the code😂, for this technique, Garrick. I was wondering, if using a highly pigmented, fluid paint ie., Golden or Tri-Art, if it would give you a higher pigment load, but not make your white paint too heavy. You’re the expert, as I still class myself as a beginner 😂. I loved the 2nd piece, however the last piece, I see an abstract person sitting, with one leg bent up at the knee, holding something, possibly a baby (?). I really love the last one. I have no doubt in my mind, that you, Sir, will have this technique down, in no time at all. Much love and many happy blessings to you, Garrick ♥️💥🙏👏👏👏👏💐
Really cool idea and beautiful work as always. Black and white looks great together, im going to be trying this one with you but i might try using blue and yellow. Thanks for sharing, ive learned so much from your videos
Yes! You're being overly critical as we artist are. I actually think that first one was beautiful. It had a great balance with the gold. Pieces never dry as you expect them to. Honestly, I think the cracking in the 3rd piece is absolutely lovely! It follows a very logical pattern with some twists. In this piece, I think it enhanced what you did. Everyone has their own opinion, of course. Even if you absolutely hate what you did, someone will like it. Beauty, truly, is in the eye of the beholder. I mean, I've done experiments to show what's possible to my classes (I teach), and even though I think it totally sucks, there's always someone who really wants it. I can't tell you how many "failed" experiments I've given to someone who absolutely adored it.
Thanks for doing this ghosty. I liked them all. Perhaps when you go for it again, lay less white 'ghosts' maybe, perhaps? 😅 Or spread out the ghost drops. And yes, the cells were an excellent outcome on these. Anyway I liked all three. I've noticed metallic gold doesn't play well in the drying process. Do you know why? If so, do tell. I heard you say the heat came on during the drying process. Well & again THANK YOU!
I've looked through a lot of your videos looking for info on black pillow paint and this looked close... I use a lot of black background/pillow but am getting inconsistent results. Question is: have you tried tinted house paint? I finally decided to try your recommended ppg and love it! I'm wanting to have HD tint it black but wondering why I don't see artists using it? Maybe the tint changes the properties too much? Thank you for all you do for the fluid art community ❤
Friend I saw another video where for this pour specifically the winning black and white paints are artists loft soft body paint. They sell at michaels but not too expensive. Only 10 a bottle. I had success with it and American floetrol only
Garrick, do you think the first pour might have been better if you hadn't used a long rectangular canvas? I find those can really make a difference with your stretching/composition because the paint has to stretch much further than on the longer sides and not so far on the shorter sides.
I love it Garrick ! Why is this called a “Ghost Pour?” I know it is probably obvious, but I would like to hear it from the artist’s side, please and thank you. 🙏 😊
Heyyy Rebecca! Soo I didn't create this technique but I am assuming because the recipe is very similar to what you use in a cloud pour but done on black it looks ghostly.
I love the technique and was wondering could in be done in pearl paints the ones that change color when dry? I would’ve used a Posca pen to do some embellishing on it
What you mean you ain't happy, it's lovely. I can't stop watching your videos you are my new bestie.
Hey BEST FRIENNNNNN LOL!!! Forreal I appreciate the love. Lol sometime I'm super picky haha.

I appreciate you always trying new techniques and experimenting. I don’t understand how some people do only one technique and that’s it. Your white paint was so fluffy but I think it looks good. The gold really dresses it up. Thanks Garrick!!

Great experiment!! “A where are they now” video 😂😂😂
Wouldn't that be fun?!?!?
Garrick, thank you for doing all the experiments! Especially since you always share your winning recipes. Why this happened will probably wake you up in the middle of the night when you have moved on to another experiment... that's what happens to me. The gold leaf will look perfect! 😊✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Definitely interesting!!
Actually think the flocculation looks cool Garrick❤.
Thanks Shelli! It's still growing ion me hahha

The first pour also was beautiful, and your second attempt too. These patterns look ghostly 🤩👻 and amazing 😍
❤❤❤
Absolutely beautiful! I will try this! Thanks for sharing!
I can't wait to see it !!!
I think J Mo figured out the recipe and I tried it successfully .
Great effort 🎉
Love this must try
That second one was beautiful.

I love that you experiment and try new things. ❤ I think it's awesome even though you did get some flocculation.
Thank you so much love!

Great tip!

I totally see what you are seeing! Maybe my years in surgery…
Beautiful
Thank you friend.

Love it , gorgeous. Yes to gold leaf, thanks for sharing x

So, so true!!! Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. The last one did grown on me a bit. Definitely going to try it again.
Thanks for doing this ghosty. I liked them all. Perhaps when you go for it again, lay less white 'ghosts' maybe, perhaps? 😅 Or spread out the ghost drops. Yes definitely a learning curve. I suspect pigment load has a great deal with gold having problems but I need to study more. 😊

Definitely a possibility. I will try a larger canvas next time. Thanks for watching.
I love it Garrick ! Why is this called a “Ghost Pour?” I know it is probably obvious, but I would like to hear it from the artist’s side, please and thank you. 🙏 😊

I literally just saw an artist use Pearl colors and it was AWESOME Gerri!
@@GarrickBrownArtStudio who did you see that you saw pearl paints, please
I know I’m behind on this, but maybe on a round canvas and spun rather than tilted…
I was beautiful all 3 of them honey😅😅😅❤❤...
Thank you!
Why not spin so you don't loose the composition??
I will next time.
Keep up the great work!
One suggestion I would have... not using such an oblong canvas. You are having to stretch too far down.
Good luck!
Great suggestion!
I think doing it on a rectangular canvas makes it look screeched , just saying
Why tilt it ? Use less paint
First time doing this pour so still learning.
