Clearly the Kraken should claim the Stanley Cup the Metropolitans won in 1917.
Right? lol
This is the way.
along with vancouver and the millionaires stanley cup win in 1915
Don’t forget Ottawa. The former Sens won a few of them.
I mean, we put a banner up already.
Signing blueger for less than he was making last season seems criminal with how he played last season, absolute steal of a contract i really like him in Vancouver so im glad they got this done, i was expecting 2.5 million and would have been fine with it
Blueger was huge last year does a the little things great 4th line center that can move to 3 if needed I think he was snake bit around the net last year good for us if he can find some touch
Great start to the offseason
As THG said a few videos back, "a winning team needs some good deals on their roster".
Of note with the Puck Over Glass rule, if you challenge and you're wrong, you get another penalty ON TOP of the original one. Whether that's 4 minutes of 5 on 4 or a 5 on 3, I don't think it was specified, but still an important thing to remember about that rule change
I believe it would be counted as a double minor, 4 minutes of 4v5 ratber than 2 mins of 3v5
Alright Shannon your video beat the ESPN notification, I’m impressed
ESPN is garbage. THG is the man!
What’s ESPN 😅

Solution to the history issue is clear. Give it to Utah and Utah then trades it to Winnipeg for the Thrashers history and a 4th Round Pick next year.

The Ottawa Senators should get their history from the old Senators franchise.
The records from 1917-34 with a nearly 60 year break? that will never happen
@@michaelleroy9281 a team that actually has wins and awards would make alot more sense than the Thrashers/Jets/Coyotes failure histories.
"We like weird, give us back our history. " - Jet's fans everywhere
My take on the whole Jets history thing is they should let the Jets have it. Thats what happened in the NFL with the current Browns, the old Browns relocated and are now the Ravens but they left the Browns heritage and records to be claimed by a later Browns team which is the team we now have
Ottawa learned the hard way that Korpisalo ain't a starter. Hopefully, he can be a competent backup again.
So nice seeing his name with another team's logo next to it
Great as usual, thanks
Minnesota would like to have the history of the North Stars.
I clicked like and I immediately smiled. Thanks THG!

Okay, that Canucks hat is legit...
I had a cat nap at the computer and woke up as soon as you asked for the like and subscribe.
It was a good nap, and now my day is in fact better. It was all you Shannon. Thank you.
Guess I should watch the video now too, but like, while conscious.
So, if a team challenges a puck over glass play and loses the challenge, will they go two men down?
Yes. That was part of the original stipulation. Losing a challenge is still a bench minor.
Or 4 minutes to one player. Either way, best get it right.
The history of both the original Winnipeg Jets and the history of the Arizona coyotes should be part of the overall franchise history of the Utah hockey club.
Do they want it?
@paladin677 They should want it. They would have guys like Hawerchuk, Selanne, Roenick, Khabibulan, Tkachuk etc as their history. Utahs franchise rookie player goal record should be 76. Despite their lack of playoff success they've had some really good players in their 40+ year history
Agreed. Shannon is absolutely right by saying that giving it back to Winnipeg would be ridiculous. The current Jets have Atlanta's history, who by the way didn't have the Atlanta Flames history. The Pens don't have the Pirates history, the Flyers don't have the Quakers history. What about NYC and Montreal? They've each had three teams. Montreal's three teams all played at the same time. The Rangers played against both NYC teams. None of those teams share history. Jets/Coyotes history going back to Winnipeg should never be on the board.
@@daviddean81 Vancouver doesn't have the Millionaires history either.
Utah can have the Cotes history. Winnipeg just wants the Jets history.
I always look forward to watching your videos

The Finnish Flash did not score 76 goals his rookie season for Utah.
He didn’t do it for the Thrashers either.

@@recorderchoir yeah and if the jets get their history back they should have to return Thrasher's hisotry to Atlanta for whenever they get a new team.
He didn't score them for the current team in Winnipeg either
@@ianhall6614 What jersey was he wearing and what city was he playing in when he got 76? It's a Winnipeg Jets record and it belongs in Winnipeg, just like the Kovalchuk records belong in Atlanta where he set them.
All of Minnesota just held their breath after saying there is a chance!!
I’m really happy with the Blueger signing. He’s someone, who I really liked when he signed last season and really liked his play overall. Yes, he didn’t produce as much but he played well. He was in my top 3 to resign besides Z and Joshua so that’s a W in my books
Let jets have winnipeg history back and give utah the coyotes history back. As a jets fan I am more attached with jets 1.0 history then thrashers history. If Atlanta came back I would not care if that history went back to them
Big facts
The coyotes and jets 1.0 are the same history
I think it's pretty straightforward Utah will be essentially the same team as the yotes so they should keep the history as Clayton Keller for example has already made a dent in a chase after Shane doans all time points record
I think the Arizona Coyotes History should go to Utah and the Jets history should go to Winnipeg ;P
One thing I would add to the net getting knocked off is, if it gets knocked off deliberately, it should be a penalty (don't think we'll get another Leggio situation, but you never know), and the other skaters on the ice stay on for the start of the PK. If it gets knocked off in a situation where the player tries to avoid the net but knocks it off anyway, or is unable to avoid knocking it off, no penalty is given out.
What I don't understand with the Arizona history part is why wouldn't one of the stipulations be that if the team doesn't return, then Alex would have to relinquish the history to Utah, it's so weird
why would you keep the yotes history if you didnt keep the jets?
Because they are the same if you keep one you keep the other @@drumagus2258

BOG changes rule on DOGPOG clearing some fog.
I wish the NHL instituted a 2 minute time limit on video reviews. If they can't overturn a call on the ice then the "infraction" was so minor as to be insignificant.
Liking this video made my day marginally better.
Small tweaks could become crucial in a tight game.
Can we make a rule where if you have to review an offsides from 10 different angles in super slow motion that it's not an offsides?
So the penalty challenge rule will be like the major challenge rule any doubt they will assess a penalty I think. That way it can be reviewed as opposed to a “blown call”
Great signing for the Canucks
Offer sheets are way underutilized in the NHL. Any pick after 15 is so random, taking the sure thing in a 25 year old makes way more sense. Necas is worth up to the 8.5 compensation limit (a 1,2,and 3)
Carolina would match the 8.5m limit though. The team would have to do a ridiculous offer giving up 4 1st round picks and hope the team doesn't have an off year in any of those 4 years
@@justjohnny420 and if they do so what. Canes want to move him in the first place and if they can't by July 1 means that what they want for him isn't out there. Additionally he is a player that doesn't want to be there and you are trying to move so you have to factor into that matching of would you rather a 1,2,3 after failing to trade him before the deadline, or be stuck with 8 million and a player who doesn't want to be there anymore. Really comes down to if they still think they can get their asking price on July 1.

Interesting puck over glass review should be kinda nice. I Iike that its only a review challenge and not for missed.
Good to see the goalies being held accountable for thier net imo.
Leg over is going to be a weird adjustment, but again i like this one and dont mind.
3/3 I think this will be fine as far as game impact.
Here's my take on the Arizona - Utah - Winnipeg question. Give the history from the move from Winnipeg until the franchise moved to Utah to Utah and let the Jets have the Original Jets history back.
Puck over glass reviews will be rare. Miss one, and it's a 5v3.
I consider team moves having the history of the team but why not cities?
Legs over the boards, good change. When watching hockey I live in fear of skate cuts every game just as living in the PNW I live in fear of the big one earthquake everyday.
Question on the puck over the glass challenge. If the challenging team loses the challenge do they then play two men short. Or does the extra penalty get served after the first one. The two man short situation would be a big deal. But playing short for 4 minutes isn’t much better. Either way, I think this will be a VERY rare challenge because of the high danger involved.
any Winnipeg history they have has to go back to the Jets
To bad the board did not address the off side rule and the consistency of calls.
Where did you get that hat?
So, Meruelo out, does that kill off the 5 year resurrection? Or can that be achieved by a well monied new group to end the hiatus?
5:07 this happened before in the NFL when they gave Cleveland back their past history when the Browns came back in 1999 after moving to Baltimore in 96 and treated Baltimore Ravens as a fresh expansion team. The Ravens and Browns don't share the same history.
5:30 The NFL did the same thing when the Browns moved to Baltimore. It's weird but not too weird. The weird part to me is the history of the franchise being in total limbo now
Leg over the boards penalty is dumb but I think the others are a good idea
Why is it dumb? It's a negligible change to the game that makes things a bit safer. Players and officials skating past the bench no longer have to worry about the knives hanging off the wall.
I think the leg over the boards won't increase penalties, I think it will decrease them because we'll probably see less too many men calls. The most it's called is when it's hitting players who just jumped on or off, so if it takes that half second longer and you can't bolt out, it might make for more deliberate changes
that could be true. ever since the ref was injured back in march i've been noticing still so many legs over the boards and nothing done about it. but it also seems like higher than average too many men calls.
my guess is we will see a number of penalties in the preseason and maybe 2-3 games into the regular season as players break habit. After that the call will mostly disappear and hopefully will also decrease too many men penalties with it
Myers going to market would make me SO GOD DAMN HAPPY!!!
Mr Chaos Giraffe makes more dangerous mistakes than he makes good plays.
Does anyone else think the call for puck over glass is the only automatic, if the ref sees it he can’t ignore but a trip or a hook can just be ignored.
I would like to see the first puck-over-the-glass for each team in each game be a warning, then call a second infraction a penalty.
The more o think about that,
I think that’s fair
My problem with the puck over glass challenge is that refs might err on the side of calling the penalty now, like they do with majors now. So while this past year there might have only been like 3 challenges for puck over glass had the rule been in place, that could greatly increase if refs change their way of thinking.
Draisalt is worth 13-13.5 imo. I don't know if Edmonton will be able to pay over 12.5 to him without dumping nurses contract to someone like the sharks for 2 firsts and a few seconds. If I'm Edmonton, I might consider a mega trade with nurse and draisalt going to a team and getting back 3 great pieces but idk where a trade like that would even work. Anaheim? Utah?
So the Jets/ Coyotes are in the same situation as the Seals/ Golden Seals/ Barons, defunct
Glad they resigned Blueger. It might mean they're going to try to keep the 3rd line together, provided they can sign Joshua for a reasonable deal.
Wait so if the ref calls a puck over glass penalty, and the coach disputes it, and the coach loses the challenge, does it make it a 5 on 3? or a 4 minute penalty?
Looks like buffalos gonna get neces
How wild would it be if Necas and Skinner switched places?
The Baltimore Ravens were treated as an expansion team, with the history staying in Cleveland. Even though the players, management, and staff all left Cleveland. The NBA has some outright weird team history arrangements. Winnipeg should get at least the Jets 1.0 history. Not sure anyone wants the Coyotes history. Especially anyone who brings a new team to Phoenix.
Apologies, this is off-topic. Just watched the “Small World” clip from last year. I’ve been through that too, and the artwork is great. Nevertheless, my belated condolences.
I’m confused. Do the Hurricanes want Neces or not?
Good rule changes. I bet Draisaitl moves on from Edmonton. He should.

Franchise history should always stay with the franchise through relocation. anything else is just rewriting history. To make a quick detour from hockey, the Baltimore Ravens should have the original Cleveland Browns history, for example. but that doesn't mean that teams and cities shouldn't be able to celebrate the history and accomplishments of previous teams in their city. The Sens have Stanley Cup banners from the Original Sens, but they don't claim them as their own championships, for example.
I think Utah should get everything from the yotes and jets should get there history back
As far as the history staying w/ Meruelo, I think that's in the same stream as the Browns move to Baltimore and Cleveland kept the browns name and history. Well, Alex kept the Coyotes name and history... so this is the second time... but since Alex is letting go... I think the history should go to either Utah or back to Winnepeg.. if only then the Jets old logo's become property of the new jets..
I don't see the puck over the glass challenge being used. Wouldn't that put a team 2 men short if they get it wrong? Also, with the Arizona owner bowing out, does that put the nickname "Coyotes" as a possible choice for Utah?
Cause he bought the franchise?
Dri is gone . Boston bound ‼️
On the lineage - blame the Cleveland Browns lol
History stays in the city the team is 8n, the NHL makes things weird with all this franchise stuff
If anything we need less chances for coaches to be able to video review. I absolutely HATE the offside review, its ridiculous
The canucks need to be patient and notjust jump into free agent day they dont need to blow the cap wait and see the players that dont get signed will take way less
Rules changes, not many comments on them, i guess everyone else is arguing not that big of a deal. Keeping an eye for UFA's resigning, will be back again shortly.
The history of the team leaves with a relocation, the name staying is fine.
at this time is the Jets history with Arizona Coyotes, not Utah? in which case Jets history in limbo? Jets history could be returned to Winnipeg at this point?
The idea of "histories" being tangible things that can be traded around one place or another seems so silly to me. Winnipeg still HAS all the history of the OG Jets, it's not like you need some weird official ownership or something of it. Likewise Utah HAS the history of the old Coyotes and Jets franchise whether they like it or not. It's how it is going to be remembered historically, whether the NHL's paperwork says "Well ACTUALLY..." or not.
Seems to me to be all about branding.
I still feel like puck over the glass shouldn't be a penalty, just treated like an icing call during even strength. If you're on the PK and fling it over the glass then it can be called as a penalty to avoid players doing it during the kill to stop the attack.
Players do it for the same reason when they are hemmed in at even strength, so why only when shorthanded?
I would say the all that stuff should goes to Utah just my 2 cents.
So your team is called for putting the puck over the glass. Your coach disagrees, calls a challenge, but the call stands. Does your team get the original penalty PLUS a penalty for losing the challenge?
It's going to be 4 minutes if team is wrong with puck over glass challenge.
give the blues the stl eagles history!!!
I would love to see Guentzel in Dallas. Robo and Roope need a winger that can score.
You say "Stars reportedly buying out Suter" and fans in Dallas want it to happen so badly that it has become fact.... but it hasnt happened yet. LOL
I'm going to guess you read the article by Heika, the Stars staft writer, who said "They might" but that's just a guess. Stars fans REALLY want Suter gone. Their wishful thinking has turned "they mgiht" into "They already did" which is hilarious. They must really hate that guy.
Does anyone feel that the rule for interference should be expanded? The playoffs were exciting at times, but rarely beautiful. They were like pinball games.

WHAT?!? a GUY has Utah's history? What on earth is an ex owner gonna do with a franchise's history? That's like selling your company, but the next owner is forbidden from comparing their earnings to the earnings they had under the original owner. That is so weird, ya it should go with the continuity of the franchise, I think it also makes no sense to put it back in Winnipeg.
why not just make offers to Jarvis, Necas and Guentzal?
