I just did this on myself. It was really hard to get the sections right but I kept trying and double checked them by taking a picture with a phone. It took me 2.5 hours but it came out good. I still have some personalization to do but I will slowly do that once I get a feel for where there is too much weight. This is the second shag haircut I have done one myself and definitely the most technical. I know this video is not meant to be a DIY but you know people will try.

My thin, wavy hair rocked that do too😉 I'm in the process of growing my hair out but right now my length and layers could use an update and a shag cut like you've done wouldn't take that much off whats grown out already. And its a more forgiving cut to grow out. Thanks for sharing your expertise and reminding me of the shag cut♡

Just followed the instructions and my hair looks just like a shag/gypsy. Great tutorial. I can’t quite get the upper volume in the back as I don’t want to thin it too much, and … it’s in the back so angle is tricky, but it’s close. The sides weren’t a problem. For a non trained hair stylist I am grateful for this. I’ve been wanting one of these☺️

An I do understand what your doing I went to cosmetology school an I come from a long line of stylist n barbers . u are really good an talented an you explain in such detale . Would the first 3 sections cut ( fringe) work well with other styles? Like with the rest of the hair longer, shorter or bobbed..I really want this kind of hair to the front but think my hair is far too fine for a full shag😕

By far the best hair cutting tutorial, the stylist knows his stuff and very good at explaining the details.
