Hi there! Finally someone talk about the Shinjuku stage. Everytime I play Tekken 4 I always noticed these things. And want to search after it in google. Sadly not find other people talk about it until today when I find this video. I always thought the "Beken" is a reference to Tekken 2 because on the poster that close up of a man face with a moustache and a smile reminded me of Heihachi Mishima a little bit. Thank you for the video!
I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, Beken was a mystery for me. At first I thought of chronicles of Riddick but Tekken 4 came before 😅. Maybe you're right! maybe Heihachi did some movie cameos when he was younger 😆
TOTALLY! The Aesthetics are perfect 🔥 Also I noted the CPU is harder than in the newer Tekkens, the "Ultra Hard" mode is kinda tough :D Very good game.
when you think about it, Lain and Tekken 4 so many sonic, thematic and aesthetic similarities that it's not hard to think that the former may have been a partial inspiration for the latter
very difficult to find anyone remotely interested in Tekken 4 past the ost! Let alone someone willing to analyze the city itself and look into the turn of the century! good video happy i found the channel ill sub right now
4:15 When you first showed the Ugo poster, my first connection went to Cujo, the 1983 horror film. That movie stars a dog. And I thought that’s the route you were going g when you said “This one’s kinda scary to be honest.”
@@Retibra Ohh nice! I didn't know about Cujo, I looked into the meaning of his name in the Stephen King novel and dammn, its another rabbit hole 🤣 some interesting stuff
Any Tekken 4 content is awesome! I would really love if someone made a deep dive into all aspects of Tekken 4 from the costume design, story direction, level design and so on. People have been lately talking about T4's great ambience but a video covering aspects directly would be amazing. Good video!
I'm glad you liked it! That's a great idea. By playing the game for this video I realised there's many things I liked. For instance the way the gameplay is more grounded, less juggle-heavy (like the fact that hopkicks don't launch), the CPU is more challenging than in newer Tekken games, etc. I'll consider touching more aspects besides the stages :D
This was a nice video to watch. I enjoyed the flow you created, it didnt feel out of place or weird whenever you talked about references or about a niche show called Lain and how you got to the next point of detail. It is also noticeable, that you put effort into making this video, because you also researched about the details despite being not a native speaker. I also thought you mentioning harada with his interviews was very good.
@@JohnThePlays Thank you so much!!! 🙏 Comments like this really gets me motivated. I'm glad that you noticed the effort in EXACTLY the areas I put extra attention on :D And yes, the Harada interviews are always so insightful, the man is a legend. Again, thank you very much sir 😁
