By a look, illustration is not correct. How can you combine both horizontal and vertical planes vertices in a single angle? The horizontal plane triangle was just re-orientated vertically thus having the same 45 degrees angle, both sides are each 17" and of course in a common hypotenuse of 24". No need to calculate; there are still lots of pipes to fit-up, hurry up. Sorry Mr. Instructor.
Call me thick, but I wouldn't need a calculator to realise that a length of 17 @45 degrees is obviously going to be the same as the adjacent side to the right angle.
