My English Bull Terrier developed Deep Pyoderma at 5 years of age. After loads of educating myself I put her onto the BARF diet, my own DIY BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) and her skin cleared up and she became healthier than ever. I have never looked back. When I got my 7 week old GSD puppy a few years back he too had Pyoderma and was a digestive disaster too. Again I placed him onto my DIY BARF diet and within 2 days his gut settled and his skin began to heal and he has been perfectly healthy since. I believe a lot of allergies or skin issues is all due to the crappy kibble being fed, no matter what the quality of the kibble. Dogs need to eat real fresh raw foods as Mother Nature intended and they will be healthy as they are supposed to be.

I have a bull terrier (white) as well, her skin infection was so bad!! 2 vets could not figure out how to at least give her relief nevermind the discomfort she had with the scabs that develop 🫣 thanks to fish oil, and oregano oil. But I am going to look into the raw diet once I stop treating her with the pills

Thank you Dr Jones I finally tried this shampoo after buying Project Suds ACV blend and also tried Chlorhexidrine shampoo and both did nothing at all but your tea/ACV shampoo made my 5yr old GSD, Knight, so happy because he got so much relief now! He was full of rashes and crusty sores and I felt so sad for him. But also giving him quercetin and garlic with powerful probiotics! I’m praying he is in the road to recovery! Thanks for your wisdom and natural remedies 🙏🏾

Only thing that worked for my dog after 2 years for this problem...was Benzoyl peroxide topical acne medicine 5-10%, and spray treated any fungal itching with "Ted's Mange remedy" [borax/hydrogen peroxide solution] until no more itching. Usually relief was immediate.
    Ingredients:
Borax laundry booster - the plain stuff with NO scent.
1 -16 oz brown bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide
I get both of these from the grocery store.
    Process:
Empty hydrogen peroxide into larger bottle - I use an empty 1-gallon vinegar jug. Add to this 32 oz filtered or distilled water - I just refill the hydrogen peroxide bottle twice - and dump into the jug. What this does is change your 3% hydrogen peroxide into 1% hydrogen peroxide.
Next add 1 cup of the borax crystals and shake. There should be some undissolved crystals in the mixed solution - this is just right. I try to use hot water from the kettle on the stove, that or sit the jug of mixture in the sink full of hot water while I bathe the dog.
    NEXT:
Bathe the dog - use whatever shampoo and rinse well. Squeeze out excess water and make sure the tub is drained. I then plug up the tub. Now pour the mixed up solution over the dog. I use a small sponge to soak up the solution from the bottom of the tub and squeeze it out onto the dog again and again, making sure I get the head and underneath. Keep squeezing solution over and over onto the dog for about 15 minutes - 30 minutes is better. Then pull the stopper from the tub and let the excess drain. DO NOT DRY THE DOG OR RINSE THE DOG. The solution has to remain wet as it is still working. Allow the dog to air dry. I just pop mine into their crates and I remove any absorbent bedding.
If you are worried about poisoning your dog keep in mind that borax has the same toxicity as table salt. The solution doesn't seem to hurt the eyes or sting any sores on the skin. Some dogs feel instant relief!
Now, the above remedy is Ted's remedy for mange, but its a good start for troubled skin. Most dogs feel immediate relief right out of the tub, but if that doesn't seem to be working [try 3 baths every other day to start] and things do not look better you can make a topical skin solution for the troubled spots.
Ted's Anti fungal/staph skin solution - you will need:
    Milk of Magnesia [magnesium hydroxide]
    Epsom salts [magnesium sulfate]
    Borax [sodium tetraborate]
    1% hydrogen peroxide solution
    METHOD:
Mix 1 tbsp of MOM with 1 tbsp epsom salt and 1 tbsp borax into 1-1/2 cups of 1% hydrogen peroxide. Apply and do not rinse. This solution should knock out any staph infection or yeast infection going on in the skin. I have many dogs and when allergy season hits I mix this up in gallon jugs and follow the mange procedure, letting the solution 'work' on the dog for 10 minutes or so in the tub, and then no toweling off, just crating and allowing to air dry.
Now, other remedies may factor in as well. To paraphrase Ted's advice on an earlier post:
Sometimes we are dealing with internal/systemic yeast or an internal fungal infection - and sometimes despite the best nutrition out there we will experience an individual that for some reason is deficient in a mineral such as boron. If the dog is low in magnesium quite often allergies will arise. If you are dealing with yeast try adding 1/16 teaspoon of epsom salt in 1 liter of drinking water for 2-3 days - max; this is not intended for long term use, just to nip a break out in the bud. When you stop the epsom salt in the water you can then start adding 1 teaspoon baking soda to 1 liter of water; do this for 5-7 days. This is a 'break out' or crisis dose. After a week you can cut it back to a maintenance dose of 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the water. If you suspect a fungal component you can add 1/16 teaspoon borax along with the baking soda in 1 liter of water. In acute and extreme cases 1/4 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water is indicated. Many humans take 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon borax in 1 liter of water daily as a detox and antifungal/anti yeast, so long term use is not an issue, however all these remedies are something you should 'play by ear' and should be adjusted as you see fit. The water additives address mineral deficiency issues and these should be addressed first.

This is good information, thank you for taking the time to write this in detail. I have previously used that borax/h202 solution on one of my kitties that had a severe skin issue when he first arrived (he was a young stray in rough shape) and it worked wonders on healing him up - although it bleached his black fur to a light brown, LOL, small price to pay to give him relief. ;-)

I looked to see if you had an essential oil that would repel mosquitos from my dog. I made a spray using * 25 drops lemon eucalyptus essential oil,
    * 6 drops peppermint oil and a few drops citronella oil in 4 oz witch hazel. Can you improve on this or should I remove something. She’s not fond of it but we have so many mosquitos here in Texas. I even used her spray a few times.❤️

    • @kathleenkendalljacksgrandm6902
      @kathleenkendalljacksgrandm6902 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Lori Hudson Essential oils safe for dogs.. Many are not, so I went to multiple sources and found some were conflicting. I ended up using the Kennel Club advice. Didn’t use any coconut oil or grape seed oil because when she comes in there will be too much oil on everything. Witch Hazel or Vodka were alternate choices so I went with witch hazel. I don’t put any on her underside or paws, just her back fur in case she licks it off and I worried about possible allergic reaction. Even though it’s suppose to be fine, it’s just not a good idea imo.
      Dilute Them!
From google…. Essential oils are very powerful for dogs, so be sure to always dilute essential oils with a carrier oil (like grapeseed or witch Hazel or fractionated coconut oil) before using them on your dog (read what canine herbalist Rita Hogan has to say about the risks of undiluted essential oils). Mix one drop of essential oil with 1 ml carrier oil and spray your dog with the mixture. You can use more than one type of oil, but just remember to increase the carrier oil for each drop of essential oil you use.
Some people like to use bandanas infused with essential oils to protect their dogs. If you do this, be sure to use diluted oils and remove the bandana when your dog comes indoors.

I do follow a lot of Dr jones but my dog had pustule and then that aggravated till his scrotum had pustules and then his groin and spreading. That was when I stopped all the home remedies and took him to a vet. They prescribed antibiotics and a spray which I am confident will get him better. Point is please don’t keep on wasting time with home remedies that is never strong enough for bacterial infections. Just see a vet. While it is great to get all this information , you still need to have a trusted vet who can physically examine your fur baby.
Update: the vet prescribed simplicef half a pill every 24 hrs . He has had only one pill and all is drying up and crusty and looks so much better. I was just making it worse trying home remedies.

Nothing has helped. I have changed her food numerous times, she is only eating out of stainless steel bowls. I wish I could attach a photo for you to see. Once in a while they will get sardines and is it OK if I give them a little bit of organic peanut butter a day? I hope you don’t mind my asking these questions. Again thank you for everything. My nine-year-old Yorky poo has water around the heart which has dramatically decreased because of your suggesting Hawthorne berry. The Apple cider vinegar has greatly reduced my sky terriers acid reflux. She would sit and lick the air for hours. 🫶🏼

There's a few things you mentioned that concern me for the long term diet. Are you making sure the raw food is balanced. It doesn't have to be every day, but all nutritional needs should be met each week.
I start with the basic PMR calculation 80/10/5/5 as my foundation. Or use BARF diet.
Just be sure you are covering all the essentials in raw feeding.
The reason vets have horror stories about raw or home made diets is that people start them without covering the basic requirements.

Can you please help me to understand something. my cat was just spayed and is still acting as if she is in heat. should I have to pay for the treatment and the test in order to find out where the ovarian remnant is left. I can't afford that and don't feel that it's my responsibility for the vets mistake. am I correct or do they expect me to pay for all the tests and the treatment

What about a puppy who has been itching chronically since we brought her home from the pound we noticed in the car she was itching. The vet said she had nothing that she could towel but as time went on she is now six months old itches all itches all night. And her skin feels hot.
    I have her on krill
    I feed her raw/ cooked
    I use coconut oil
(Maybe I need to use it more) I have tried homeopathic’s now I’m giving her CBD. I just don’t know what else to do.

Sir, I need to ask a question not related to this video but I hope you can help us. We have a kitty that is very dear to us, she went in to have a tooth removed, she is only 2 years old, they removed 3 teeth. She came out from under the anesthetic too fast and stopped breathing. They got her going again but she could not see or walk. We really thought we were going to loose her. We have worked with her a lot and she is walking, eating, drinking water, which she has to stand in to find the low level to drink. She has started using the litter box again but looses her balance still and can fall over. She has really had to get used to baths which she really hated before. The vet says her eyes work but the brain has not made the connection yet to see. She started walking after we spent time rubbing her toes and legs to help her brain make the connection to her body again. Do you know of any way to help her brain and her eyes work together again? Your time with this mater would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Man I love this Vet. He’s describing my dog. I spent 600.00 to have him see a board certified allergist vet. Antibiotics, medicated shampoo and a strict diet with rabbit being the only meat. HA! Try to find rabbit meat, it’s not easy. He was doing better, then exactly like Dr. Jones said, his rash came back! I refuse to over use antibiotics and don’t vaccinate so I will make his treatment.

Hi Doctor Jones I am in England and would you be able to help? My dog has a itchy rash just under her bottom lip (I am assuming it itches) if slightly touched she then starts banging he back leg on the floor sometimes going round in circles. Vet says it is an allergy and put her on apoquel for 2 years. I have taken her off as seen side effects. Could you please recommend s natural way to deal with this. She has also now developed redness around the outside of one eye which I have been treating with chamomile tea. It is quite distressing to watch.
    Thanks
    Gillian.

@@A10TOES Hi, she has warts all over her body for nearly 2 Years mainly. I have done a lot of research and found that Apoquel suppresses the immune system so she cannot fight them. I have read alot about Apoquel and have decided to try to find an alternative.

@@gilliansale2849 thank you for replying. I noticed my Yorkie has a tiny black wart in middle of her back, I first thought it was a tick, she never had before, I bet the Apoquel she’s on caused it. She’s still having some head shaking, so Vet prescribed Mometamax, which hasn’t helped, Zymox OTIC helped more. I removed chicken completely from her diet, 3 weeks ago, thinking she was allergic to it, I sure don’t want her to get any more of those warts, treating with castor oil, per Dr Jones for 2 wks, will continue to the month then will try something else. Anyway thanks for letting me know, I might take her to a local vet for second opinion. Are you treating your dogs warts with anything?

    • @gilliansale2849
      @gilliansale2849 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi,. She bit one of her large warts and vet said needs to remove. He removed 16 warts under general anaesthetic, she was really poorly. I am never putting her through that again. She is now covered in warts and they get very large. I have researched that her immune system cannot fight them as Apoquel suppresses the immune system. I am not sure that they can be treated I was told by my vet that they should just fall off. She has had them for 2 years and not one has fallen off. I am hoping that now she is not on Apoquel they will start to go away. Fingers crossed. I hope your little dog does not have an increase in warts. Let me know if your treatment works if you don't mind.
      Thanks

    • @A10TOES

@@gilliansale2849 I sure will & I discontinued her apoquel this morning. I’m using castor oil on my chihuahua, she has 2 fatty tumors. It’s shrinking the smaller one, will watch the bigger one, both under her skin. My vet said not to surgically remove them, she is 12. Yes I will let you know if the castor oil works for the wart on my Yorkie. I honestly considered the wart remover for people, then decided against it. Unsure if they really fall off? My mom’s Maltese dog had a growth like it & her veterinarian removed it for $60. I read that pets are over vaccinated, & could be the reason our pets have these tumors. I quit vaccinating my dogs 2 years ago, except for the 3 year rabies; my vets partner vaccinated my cocker spaniel gave the vaccine in her hip and it left a lump that never went away.
