What I never got about these stories is how the protagonist has to pretend to be incompetent. Whats stoping him from openly refusing the throne in public and to his family then just being the adventure prince.
I think It's not just about becoming emperor or not, it's also about his siblings not believing him in the case he refuses and trying to assassinate / poison him in secret anyway. After all he has the same royal blood even if he refuses. Probably only his brother trusts him and will leave him alone when refusing the throne. At least that's my interpretation 😀
I mean isn’t it more fun this way? At the end of the day the explanation for why he needs to be seen as incompetent is only there so you can have a badass hero who turns the tables on those who underestimate him, it also opens up the possibility of having interesting situations where he has to act like an idiot. I agree that it’s overused and a lot of time makes little sense but there’s a reason it’s popular, cus it’s just plain fun, especially when the MC is OP it helps put limits on what he can do so the mc can’t just OP their way through every struggle making the story actually interesting, but you can still have epic badass OP MC moments. Although I’ll admit this story’s explanation is a bit glossed over lol, so I guess we’ll need to find something to hold up all this disbelief for us.
@@crazykid1325 my issue is that he is op anyway. If you're on top of *any* Field especially if it has political implications it's hard to let people step all over you. If you're a master swordsman (who is a royal btw) why would you let peasants talk down to you. Overpowers or not the royal family is still the royal family why would you let everyone step all over you.
