you can get into the same problems with any other truck the problem this guy seems to run into is bad parts and cant find a good mechanic so hes trying to do it his self, i would get into something older like a kenworth 2005 and older with old style interior because its less electric bullshit on truck all the sensors and modules are to unreliable and overpriced

i agree with everyone as far as his work ethic, it is admirable, but the fact is word gets back to shippers and this truck breaks down every week. If you were a company, especially a small one and you depended on your product getting to its destination on time would you put a load on this truck. With all the work you've done on the Mack, you are learning a whole new trade and I'm confident that you will have it up and running quickly. I'm real thankful that the fuel pumps on both my 7.3's and my ISX are electric. My tractor has the mechanical pump and the primer... when it runs out of fuel it takes a few hours to get it back running. I'll be picking my truck up tomorrow... I was going to swap my transmission but found an oil leak from the rear main seal so I'm paying the big $$$ for someone else to fix it. Rebuilt 13 speed, new clutch, one U-joint, yoke, rear main seal and a rebuild of my power divider. So my engine and much of my drive train will have been rebuilt. Planning on heading back out early next week.

"I gotta ask", did you check the vent tube on both fuel tanks? Blow air thru them and make sure you hear air in the tank with the fuel caps off, Crazy as it sounds it happened to me once, drove me absolutely crazy chasing everything else and just about every troubleshooting tips people could recommend, or maybe the vent tube is pinched down or bent and can't breath,
No air in No fuel out
Also check your pickup tube/sock in both tanks to make sure your not running dry with a 1/4(?) Tank of fuel on the gauge and your not to deep picking up sludge and shutting the system down,

  • @billw4746

I hope it is a simple fix. It could be a failed primer pump or a cracked fitting. Or a fuel line could be failing internally. I have seen fuel lines rot from the inside out. But I don`t faith in new parts I have seen them fail in 10 minutes. It could be something floating around in the fuel tank, Getting sucked onto the pickup tube.

Remember you used the clear hoses for fuel in the yard,,,, maybe use clear fuel hose as the working hoses and that can help you get a visual of things at that location without having to take stuff apart and put the clear hoses in just to se if there is air in the fuel at that point..... Seems the same location causing air to get in also lets it in when its not running and your prime bleeds off.... I am not a A+ mechanic but pretty good on engines and I must say,,, your intermittent problem here is quite strange !!!

Lot's of people by now would've thrown the white towel and moved on to another job or Industry. The problem with over the road trucking is that you need a reliable truck. This truck is an old truck and not only the current issues but other parts are over due to fail by wear and tear. Fuel is possibly going even higher, parts are expensive, rates are down, these are tough conditions to run a one truck operation.

A modification - last stop on the fuel line before it goes to the injectors,,,,, a marine filter that takes out water and bleeds off any air automatically,,,, the air bleeder kind of works like a air bleeder on a hot water base board heating system for a house,,, I know you should not need mods - it should all work like its intended too,, but sometimes a modification that works is easier and cheaper that to keep fighting the thing,,, the filter mount with inlet and outlet is not very expensive then screw the marine diesel filter on to that.... of course if its the air problem that will take the air out just before the injectors and wont solve the prime problem that on any kind of pump that needs to hold prime there has to be a air leak that has developed,,, maybe a clamp came off or a hose that is not as pliable as it needs to be and is not sealing at the barbs on the fittings...... Maybe these ideas may spark other ideas in your head,,, but since these videos run about a week back or more, you probably have it fixed so just file the ideas.....
