I have been carefully buying parts from Ali Express. So far Ryzen 5 5600 CPU, stock Wraith Spire cooler, an LCD display. I really appreciate this video.
i try to avoid cases, mobo, storage and dang sure psu on AE.. everything else has been fine and ultra budget. you might as well and spend 60-100 on new mobo in USA. or buy used and pay around 50. you can get basically awesome cases for 60, PSU as well. i try to stay away from gen 3 nvme and always go 1 tb and gen 4.. if you wait long enough, usually a few weeks you can always score some amazing deals... buying used on the big websites and going to local pawn shops can save you so much money
Always love builds like this. And I was actually thinking about doing a build like this. But many videos pointed out possible issues with m.2 slots affecting the Sata 3 ports, and inaccurate temperature and power consumption readings from the CPU, because the motherboard was a repurposed motherboard with a different chipset. But otherwise, it plays game really well. Important to remember to manage your expectations, and it should give a person plenty of quality use.
@@thomaswood8167 so far I've had zero issues with the SATA ports and I have 2 data SSD's connected. One of them I'm using to run KDE Neon Linux which I use more than windows. I've not paid too close attention to the temperature but when I glanced at it the other day it looked accurate.
Not a bad deal at all with a price better than most simple laptops. A good all around system that you can do some gamin on or a kid's first gaming PC it is a great deal! Looks good too!

@@RDsRCReviews I was also considering purchasing the 550, but then I saw that the 570 8GB was only a little bit more expensive than the 550.I meant to have 32GB of RAM (2*16GB) on the PC, but I had to sacrifice one GB of RAM in order to obtain the RX570, and it was well worth it.
@@RomeoNgeno yep! I would have definitely bought a 570 or 580 instead of the 550 but I was trying to keep this build around 250. I included links to the 570 and 580 since they both make a lot more sense than the 550 if you can spend just $30-40 more. I replaced the 550 with a 8GB 5500XT I had in my old build so now this system is really really good.
Longevity might sound like an odd priority when we are talking gaming PCs, but whether its a Jellyfin server or simply a general purpose PC I like to get at least 3 years out of anything electronic I spend money on. They HAD to cut corners somewhere. Thanks for the video.

Nice vid buddy. I would have really recommended the Rx 580 tho, they have the really nice looking white ones. I know your budget would have been well over but it would have looked so much better! These boards never come RGB headers unfortunately. The gpus also tend to be used dies that are put into new coolers and shrouds.

You could buy Xeon E5 V3 for instance E5 2680 V3 and unlock Turbo Boost on all cores but for games is in the most common 8 cores 8 threads the best, so I often switch off the others cores and HT. But it must be better motherboard for example Qyida x99 d4 with C612 chipset or another cheap borad with C612/X99 chipset. This configuration would be much better regarding to my tests a lot kind of x99 boards. Also manipulating timmings boost a little bit of performannce and Quad channel configuration of ram.
@@micharzonca8841 yeah that all turbo unlock is pretty cool on the V3's but it doesn't make a big difference and you'll be using even more power since the Xeon's have no power saving features.
@RDsRCReviews in games we can achieve a lot. Regarding to power cosumption my xeon E5 2697 V3 doesn't exceed 70 W in games and with undervolting. But in programs ofc power consuption is high if the cpu runs at 100%
Toasty brose just used a xeon 2650 on a 4060. They were getting 140fps outta cyber punk. The xeon cards are far more capable than ppl like to give them credit

Not to be that guy and I’m not being negative. However, your cpu cooler fan is in the wrong orientation for what you’re trying to do. You also have all your case fans on exhaust. Despite these very minor things great job on the budget build.
@@PlumCrazyPC no you're fine. I'm not the best with fan directions but I did get the rear case fan flipped around. I'll take a closer look at the CPU fan. I usually use liquid coolers or CPU fans that lay flat on the board so it wouldn't surprise me if I had the CPU can facing the wrong direction 😂 I just assumed it was blowing air out the back that direction. I know I did have the case fan installed incorrectly and I switched that and mentioned it in the video.
@@kimsoo16 yes! The 500 series was just a small refresh of the 400 with minor improvements. The 470 is much more powerful than the 550. The 470 is pretty much a 570.
question: Whats the main issue if any with the CPU? You called it decent but it has 12 cores and 24 threads so I'm just confused what the problem is since I'm not super familiar with CPU's
@@zakillgaming it's an older server CPU. It doesn't have great instructions per clock cycle like a more modern cpu does. It also lacks power saving features so it will use a lot more electricity.

35year veteran here, some advice. That is too much thermal paste, the cpu fan is the wrong way around - air flow is the wrong way around. Put the m.2 in before installing the cooler, dont touch the base of the cooler, oil from your hands contaminate the thermal paste. Spend more time on planning and less on talking, your results will be better. All this being said the build is good.
@@namtech425 I fixed the airflow problem. I realized I had the CPU fan facing the wrong way after I had posted the video. It's fixed now. I disagree on the thermal compound however. That's just a pea sized bead that is pretty much recommended by everyone. Yes. I do tend to talk a lot but I also edited out a lot of unnecessary jibber jabber too. Keep in this is first complete PC build video on my channel. I'm mostly an RC channel that's also getting into tech as well. I was bound to make a few mistakes being this is my very first video but overall I don't think I did too bad. Thanks for your input.
At least I had initially flipped the rear case fan around so at least the air from the CPU fan and case fan weren't colliding. They were just working to bring air into the case target than venting it out the back. Regardless both are flipped around now and the CPU can is now venting air out the back. I've been building PCs on and off since the late 90's but I don't claim to be an expert
The case was free shipping for me. Maybe it changed. It isn't easy to find cases from AliExpress that have free shipping. They are large items that are not easy to ship cheaply from China. That also take at least a month to arrive because they come over on boats.
@@lampenmeister6025 you are correct but as far as I can tell this 550 is brand new. Everything came sealed from Soyo. It looks brand new and has zero signs of usage. Honestly though even if say a 580 was used for mining thankfully you won't be out of money if it dies. This 550 was only $40 and it is being sold as new so it isn't much of a risk.
Even if it was a mining GPU its not a bug deal. A lot of hardware last for YEARS. The on an off changes of a normal user can do as much damage. Plus miners under volt a lot of their GPUs.
Even for 250 this is not a good build. For the same money you're far better off searching Facebook marketplace and picking up a Skylake build, or 1st gen Ryzen with a RX580.

That sounds like a very good budget setup as well. Especially the 570 which is far more powerful than the 550 I used on this build

I went with a top down cooler on my BKHD board. It seems that people are generally concerned about VRM temps from what I gathered.

Is the rx470 better than the 550 if so how come?
@@kimsoo16 yes! The 500 series was just a small refresh of the 400 with minor improvements. The 470 is much more powerful than the 550. The 470 is pretty much a 570.
