Hey Tethys, As a person who has often driven through winter conditions I must say that this video portrays a winter storm more accurately then any million dollar movie I have ever seen. The mood and lighting is perfect for the song. It may have been "crappy free software" but you nailed it.
Whenever I start to worry that all of the pain, loss, challenges, and stress in my life has completely sapped my ability to feel genuine emotions anymore, I listen to this. The wave of good, bad, happy and sad memories this stirs up helps remind me that yes, yes I'm indeed a human being with a wide spectrum of emotions, and, miraculously, still a loving and empathetic person. To me the song is about self exploration and auto discovery, going to a party where no one knows who they are, getting yourself so drunk you don't know who you are anymore, and suddenly you got an epiphany that your life is not yours anymore. So then you just want to hurry to home to put a slow show for yourself, (he is talking to someone else in a figurative manner, to that part of himself that's no longer there) so he can understand himself again and found his center again. Then the extract of 29 years for perfectly, because you take all your childhood and your youth just defining you, until some day you meet yourself at the mirror and see the man that one day in the past you hoped you would meet. That's the perfection about this song... you could read it in a lot of different ways. (I thought the father/daughter reading also, and also thinking of an idealized love, but for me, is the one I told you before)
