I LOVEE the diversity of fighters in this game.. but MAN is it hard to pick up w it being one of the hardest games to learn

It's not hard to pick up. People see cool things thn play planning to do those cool things, which is now possible with how fighting games are nowadays. When you are motivated and excited to play a game mainly fighting games nothing is hard. You lose, you improve and enjoy. Games nowadays try to get you past losing and improving. Now when you are motivated and wanna get better, it becomes boring and unfun faster

let be honest, definitely HARDER than other fighting games. It has one of the longest tutorial in any fighting game for just the base system and not immediately obvious how to use them correctly

That's funny 'cause I actually find UNI to be one of the *easiest* fighters to learn. Yea, it's got a lot that *can* be learned, but it's so easy to pick up even for newcomers to the genre and there's a really smooth gradient in the complexity of all the mechanics so you can just focus on adding one thing to your gameplay at a time.
Really high skill ceiling, but also a really low skill floor. UNI has and will continue to be my favorite fighter :)

@@rhinocheese7831 This guy gets it and both you and NihongoGamer somehow put it into words which I never effectively could.
It's like modern games want to make everything accessible to you right away with not much to discover and challenge yourself with your character later on at an intermediate level and beyond.
You can literally see when someone has put time into the game and not like in games like Strive where you do two buttons into special which already gives you 40% damage on top of having little variation in combo routes and difficulty as well as payoff.

100% agree with the dopamine being put toward challenges. I experienced this for the first time with KOF XIII and ever since, I've found myself really enjoying things outside of gaming that challenge me upfront, but offer huge satisfaction on the back end. It completely changes your motivation and thinking all around.

I agree, but I think we can thanks Melty TL as transition before Uni2 came out imo it allowed to make the devs be aware that changing too much they games isn't necessary good (the rps shield and autocombo in all buttons in the case of melty). Otherwise that probably would have been the same.

I love thst UNI/2 have kept that old school, technical, demanding gameplay and the sprite based art style. However, I wholeheartedly believe that UNI2 would be much more popular with the highly detailed HD sprite look of KOF13 or like Octopath Traveller. Both Melty and Uni just look kinda plain with their muted, understated color palettes which makes them less eye catching than their contemporaries.

If street fighter would go back to 2d fighting and have the same mechanics like most arc systems fighting games, street would be awesome! The problem is, they tryna make street fighter to realistic like mortal Kombat and tekken.

Absolutely in love with this game for the reasons youve stated. Ive noticed combos are way more possible to drop to even at forostys so it makes them not boring to watch or do. Universal OP mechanics are very limited in terms of how you can access them (CS for example) so youre sitll allowed to do crazy shit, just not all the time. Very unique tools for characters and how input is balanced around it. For example, they bind strong specials to QCFs so you cant walk forward and use it at the same time, you have to stop for a second because the move is that good, there's a lot of thought put in and not just 1 button move anywhere go! Can't wait for steam port to me properly fixed.

I play this game since the exe late version on PS3 ... And for me this is one of the greatest fighting games ever made, not Very hard, but not so much complex, and Very, Very pleasure to play, and learn, with some minutes you can understand the character and you can graduate became a "master" with him, is só balanced with complex and easy mechanics, the rekka inputs doesnt exists anymore since the Last version and the inputs in general is very easy to do, but the optimal combos and setups is executional harder, but all characters have more simples but not too easy combos and setups with you can use and make viable, and all characters have many tools to make best damage and setups in the match, is so much freedom and all characters is viable, and you Will never see aways the same combo ever and ever, same character can be played different with different top player, is so much good see this.

That only means it's going to fail. I mean, that depends on what they expect out of UN2. If they put in a lot of resources, it'll be a massive loss, if it was just a modest sequel that was mostly made for the sake of adding rollback and bit of new stuff, then maybe it'll recoup its' losses

UNI2 is directed towards veterns and people who want depth, not the simplicity of fighting games nowadays. Yes, UNI2 wont be big like granblue, t8 or sf6 because those games are a lot simpler, but UNI has a crazy devoted fanbase that has been playing the game since launch
