I tried to get authentic guitar sounds though VSTs but got better results and strong satisfaction buying a $300 guitar and learning to play it at a basic level.
I've been a pretty accomplished guitar shredder for decades, but I gave up playing and started using guitar plugin VSTs because I'm too lazy to plug my axe in and deal with tuning issues and knobs and pedals when I'm still going to end up in the box for mixing the song. Only downside I'll admit to is that midi guitars are a pretty not-fun workflow compared to real guitars.
I haven’t had much luck with the VST except Steinberg Virtual Guitarist. I have to use a real guitar. I love NI Guitar Rig and Amplitube. Sometimes I use my GT-8 pedal board but mostly GR. This one guy I know buys guitars off Amazon for cheap some of them don’t sound so bad or could just use a pickup swap.

Normally, people are over the moon to get their ads shown for free, even if it's only a clip. In this case they saw his video as a negative review and use that "reason" to try to get rid of it. FTE.

Fender was denied trademarks on their body shapes because they waited too long to try to assert trademark. Fender headstock shapes are trademarked however. This is why you see so many T- and S-style guitars that look exactly like Fenders except for the headstock. It’s a different story with Gibson, where both body shapes and headstock shape trademarks have been more vigorously defended by the company going back a longer time.
It may be ethical to produce instruments that normal musicians can actually afford and not rip them off with hyped prices related to an elite brand image. Or devices, no longer made, that normally go for astronomical prices on the used market

That talk about “ethical” needs to stop. We all have those LinnDrum samples in various forms from various sources. In hardware synths as well as software drummachines. Any one who wants them, can find them for cheap or probably for free. Nobody ever cared to think about whether it was ethical or not…untill Behringer did what others have done many times before…go figure! These are 40+ years old samples, that have been used to death. Geeez Roger Linn, chill out already!
I'm pretty sure copying "the bad ideas" is because people want what the old machines do, which includes characteristic mistakes. Also, the ui is so hands-on and easy to use. It baffles me he found it confusing. Behringer literally makes its devices so any dufus can get going quick (me included). Roger was being odd with his remark there.
Maybe he's just so familiar with how the original worked that this version seems wrong, to him. People keep saying Windows 10 is just great, but to me, it's different to 7 for no reason and I can't be bothered with it.

That Spectral delay plugin actually does get some of the sounds of NI Spekrtral Delay (RIP), even though it has way fewer bands and doesn't do a lot of the modulation stuff.

That comment about the innards of the LMDrum actually may speak more to the intent behind its recreation than anything. If they have a low margin on it what's the point from a business perspective? Idk if it has anything to do with amount of orders but I’ve ordered little behringer synths (VS mini pro) and could order and get it within a month of their release video… my preorder of the LM drum says it ain’t coming til June and sweet water says its due to the amount of preorders… again, idk how true any of this is…. But honestly the linn drums go for like 7k, this thing is $400 and it can do way more than my Roland TR8
Happy Deepmind 12 owner here. It sounds great and built like a tank. Even the packaging for it was nicer than the boxes my Multipoly and Juno X came in.

Is it ethical to buy or sell a Les Paul or Fender clone? Most "clones" are made to appeal to buyers with less capital and I don't think music making tools should only be available to the wealthy. I sympathize with Linn to an extent (and I can't stand Uli either) but he seemed pretty cool with Akai still borrowing a lot from his old ideas for their new MPCs (he's posted videos of him demoing new MPCs this year and it seems he's been financially compensated). What I thought was more telling about what Linn said in his statement that I don't think this vid brings up was something to the effect of "I'd rather not work with Behringer due to some of their recent questionable business ethics issues.". He'll take a lil' kickback from a company he has history with and that has largely maintained its respectable status in the music making community, but he knows if he took that Uli money to give it his blessing some of that negative sentiment surrounding Behringer might come his way. He's no dummy and still has some integrity.
The plugin isn't feature complete yet, but the core functionality is there. You pay less money similar to an intro sale, but it's mainly about getting feedback for final touches before the full release. It's a good way to get feedback from customers before the product is finalised, and you get it significantly cheaper. There's still a trial available if you think the idea is stupid though.
