This is a story of unrequited love from Regina's POV. The timing wasn't right, and they never got together. It's a recollection of memories of her love for Emma, how everything started and how it ended. (It's before she was able to reunite with her in the S7 finale.) She constantly lost her (they constantly lost each other), but Regina never stopped loving her all the same. I'm so sorry for the angst (not really). As soon as I heard this song, I knew I'd have something angsty in my hands, possibly without a happy ending. Oops?

Okay this made me cry . I know the part where Regina gave the extremely forced smile after hearing about Emma's engagement to Hook was , atleast according to canon , because she wished she could have had the same with Robin . But for canon purposes it totally looks like a swan queen unrequited scene .

That's exactly how I've always felt about these two. Regina holding back her feelings for Emma out of politeness and Emma being confused about her own feelings, maybe waiting for Regina to make a first step which never comes. 💔😭

I admit my obsession with Regina started when I was fourteen. It kinda passed but it came back and I'm currently 21 crying at 2 am because of this. This is amazing. This is what was literally made to happen but didn't. They were definitely soulmates. No one can tell me otherwise. So much wasted potential....

Okay, but jesus. The transitions and the way you just got the emotional highs and lows to match perfectly to the song. The "I'm fine" while Regina's looking down and upset is just *chef's kiss*. Also also, you got a whole STORY here, with Emma and Regina like passing ships ("this whatever between us needs to end" "you're leaving me aren't you" rip my heart out why don't you) and Regina/Roni suddenly remembering everything like an explosion even though she obviously wants to forget everything, I dunno, it's so powerful. Honestly, Regina's unrequited feelings in this HURTS. THANKS FOR THE PAIN. BRB GONNA GO CRY MYSELF IN A CORNER.
