Awesome review! The head sculpt is fantastic! The problem with Black Series figures lately is that preorders are sold out in the first minutes. It is impossible to buy this figure in Amazon at regular price. Scalpers are selling it in Amazon at $89
Since this is an Amazon exclusive you cannot buy at stores. You have to order from Amazon. I’ve been searching for this figure since day one and it was not listed I guess because it sold out in the first minutes the preordering started. Then last week it started to show up in the site at the crazy price of $89. Now the price went down to about $77. But still it’s offensive how much scalpers are reselling it.
Swapping the heads makes sense since the Kenner figures really didn't have that much details and the Hasbro could fit in better with the movie figures with the photo real face print.

I really appreciate this figure. Great mashup between vintage kenner and black series. Great review and agree the photo real face looks great on the prior release of old ben.
Looks fantastic Nate. That new head sculpt looks incredible and even if you do not like the figure itself then its an easy head sculpt swap on the original release. Awesome review Nate😎
You know I really like these “throwback” figures. I’m old enough to have had these as a kid (good gawd it sucks getting old!) but what would really do it for me is doing the complete original 12 (at least, but loving that Greedo so would love the original 21 for a start!). My first 2 figures - and conincidentally still my favorite characters and figures I collect from EVERY single line I can find them made in - were R2-D2 and C-3PO. Doing an original Artoo in Black Series scale would simply be AMAZING (I wont get on my soap box about how wrong the Astromech scale is in the Black Series, but as a Kenner R2 it’d be fine). For this if they used the existing horribly inaccurate Black Series R2 - an homage to how inaccurate Kenner’s R2 was perhaps? - they have to include a wrap around body “sticker” which of course could be a vinyl wrap with his details printed on that could be easily slid on and off to reveal the “real” sculpted detail. Essentially, this R2 would also have his own equivalent of a vinyl cape to represent the sticker that befuddled me so thoroughly as a kid as why they didnt bother sculpting details on R2 and R5. But to really knock it “outta da park” if they included a Black Series scale dome of the original R2 design with his one big circular eye and 2 little indented red and blue circle eyes with his usual rectangular slats around his dome and vac metallized I’d just be over the moon (of Yavin. Or Endor. Both actually!). And a VOC metallized 3PO would be awesome as well! And it could get the vac metallized machinery practice for them to FINALLY make the Retro collection droids figures who are sorely missed after 3 waves and still no sign of the 2 most iconic characters in all of Star Wars!

I remember picking up this figure just to swap the head on my original Ben figure but retired that after getting the cantina showdown set for cheap a year ago since it had better painted hair, we’re either of you 2 able to get that set? Wish the Ben was made available like the other 2

What is the deal with Amazon putting these up for sale on 1-29-21, selling out within minutes...and has not had them available for sale again (as on 3--29-21)?!!?!!? I was only able to order the Jawa! I have not seen the other two for under $70 since 1-29-21 on Amazon.com.

Yeah Soft goods are the best. But it’s a 50th Anniversary figure based on the Original Vintage so it makes perfect sense. But Damn that head sculpt is fantastic! A++ for me from Hasbro. Can’t expect much more really.
