This year I made tons of homemade ornaments for my tree. My favorites are the fan circle ornaments (you know...the sort you fold paper into an accordion and then glue it into a circle). I am lucky enough to live near an antique mall and one Sat I spent some time looking for Christmas sheet music. I struck gold! I created the ornaments, dipped the edges in glue and then glitter. I then printed old style Santa's and birds to decoupage and then glue to the centers. My absolute favorite find that day was a 90 year old, full color book of The Night Before Christmas. It wasn't a bound book, but the sort on heavy duty card stock, but more pliable. I --gulp--cut out various scenes with the words and decoupaged them to pre-painted red or green 3x5 canvas. I used butcher's twine to create hangers and they'll go on my trees. I am so proud of them! But oh, that first cut into the 90 year old book was the hardest!
Not criticizing, but maybe with a possibly valuable book - just make copies on a color printer. You could copy the entire book and have copies forever! 😊

The idea of using seasonal items in an existing frame is a good one - could have a whole series of images to take you through the year - either stored just in a flat envelope or depending on the depth of the frame, maybe just layered in the frame itself. There are a few crafters who do Dollar Tree item based crafts, who include ideas for making things double sided or multi-seasonal - like wooden houses with Christmas on one side and Thanksgiving or autumn on the other. Or items that can have seasonal attachments added and removed - bird nests is one I saw recently.
