This is amazingly timely. Yesterday TH-cam decided I needed to see an old video of you and Heidi cleaning up the silo. Just seeing the changes to the farm from 2 years ago...amazing.
It is also great to see Luke checking out the silo behind you and the Ging seeing if he can find what you are talking about. Always great to see.

Awareness of the conditions farmers work with is SO important for the general public. This info is not a "oh poor me, the farmer..." It is a matter that we shouldn't take our food supply for granted. If some people had their way we would be earing insects at every meal.

Have you tried laying a base of barley straw in the clamp when you know it’s going to be wet to soak up the effluent which will add nutrition to the straw for feeding.

Sugar beets! At the turn of the 20th century, the Spreckels family in San Francisco made a major fortune producing sugar from sugar beets. The young wife of the Spreckels heir used her share--and more--to promote the arts in California. The biography of "Big Alma" (she was 6 feet+ tall and gorgeous) is a rip-roaring tale.

Tom, I'd have had that clamp opened and been feeding 50/50 of the left over 2021 clamp and the 1st cut 2022 for 10 days, increasing it gradually to all 100% 2022 silage. Cows don't like sudden change, I'm sure you know that- I've seen conception rates drop dramatically on diet changes that you'd never think would affect them. Milk may increase, but it's the potential fertility and herd calvings could take a hit? But fingers crossed for you! Pickled grass sarnie anybody lol
