Loved the transparency! I quit my job because the cost of daycare didn’t justify my salary, so I love seeing a split budget and how much farther your money goes!
I totally understand that girl!! It will be interesting to see how our budget changes once we combine accounts after the wedding and then when we have kids!!
Thank you!! Definitely trying something new here and will make a couple a month but I still plan on doing my normal content as the bulk of what I share! Food and vlogs and all that!
Can you share your excel template or how you do it?! This would help me tremendously, i literature sit and write eveeything down in a budget planner and its not as clearcut & efficient like your example! Love how you simplify it!! Thanks for being real with us!
Loved this video Lauren❤️Please do more! My husband and I get paid once a month from our jobs. All the bills come out throughout the month, and then the amount we save for groceries, gas, etc we split into weekly amounts. I have always used a budget planner for our monthly budget. I love how you had your spreadsheet all organized and color coded though! I may try something like that. Have fun in Colorado with your photo shoot😊
Thank you so so much! I will for sure do more, this was so fun!! I linked the template for free in my description box if you want to give it a try! I still use a handwritten budget planner sometimes too!
I just started the video but had to comment on the autopay remark. It’s so refreshing to hear someone on here say the exact same thing I used to say that I remember a time when I was like “wow will I ever be at the autopay level with my finances. Might sound foreign to some but that comment really resonated with me 😊Tip: I’m in SA also & I signed up for the Budget Savers program. To qualify you have to have service for a year. They take the average of the bills for the prior year & you pay that set amount for the current year. At the end of the year, if there were some months where your bill did not add up to the monthly amount that they advise you to pay then they give you a credit at the end of the year on your bill. With the Texas heat my bill used to be huge so it’s great that I can plan for it each month versus it being a wild card. I recommend it to anyone that has a house.
The auto-pay goal is so real!!!! for years and years after college I was like there’s no way I’ll ever be able to do that for my bills but I’m so happy to reach that goal!! And I will for sure look into that program, thanks girl!!
Ahhh I love that!!! Me too girl! Watching budgeting videos helps keep me in the mindset and now making them in like okay I’m going to have to report my spending to my people so I need to do well😂
I was in the same place you were a few years ago. I quit the credit cards and have been using a debit card instead and have been debt free for 9 years. You're doing great!
I love this kind of content! Maybe also like how to save $ on recipes or at the store, DiY beauty etc. I think we often fall into the lie that we have to buy new and best of everything to be “that girl” but I want to be that girl who is out of debt lol
I want to be that debt free girl too!!! And we totally can!! Yes i love all of these ideas I’m going to work on sharing more for sure!!! Thanks so much for watching!
Really loved this video! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I really loved the transparency into your grocery budget. We spend around the same amount and it feels so high, so it's really nice to see that this may be a a normal amount for two people!
I think this is a great series for you! My favorite budgeting tactic is a Christmas club and vacation club. It’s an automated deduction from my paycheck each month into a special savings account. Each November the total is transferred to me for Christmas spending and each June I get the vacation money.
Ohhhhh okay I love this idea!!!! Definitely going to try this!! Do you set the auto deduction with your bank or with your work via the direct deposit? Thanks so much girl!!
@@im_LaurenHays I set it with my bank. It’s technically a credit union. My parents started me out doing this when I was little 😂 they would get me to put in like $5 a month so I could get the money to buy a Christmas present for my brother It was so funny to see the small budgeting things they implemented with me
I love your videos...I started watching when you were on weight watchers. I saw on it them too, then went off it....and now i'm starting back again....I have gained all my weight that I lost. I'm so excited to hear about Erin as i've watched some of your videos with her before. It sounds like just what I need. You do it all on the facetime? No office visits? thank you so much for the budget video also. I love your budget sheets and came to ask if you would share, and you already had in your descripton. Thank you sooo much!
Yay thank you so much!! Erin runs her business completely online so it’s FaceTime or zoom calls and a chat feature in her app where you can always send a message! I love it because then I don’t have to leave work for an appointment and I can easily fit it in my day! Hope you love the spreadsheet!
I love this content and transparency! ❤I'm here for it and looking forward to more! I operate on Google Spreadsheets and Google Calendar. For the Spreadsheets, I have one for my budget with all our expenses and one that operates as my Check Ledger. I built them both custom, but I love seeing other formats. My husband and I used to both get paid one a month, but now he's every 2 weeks and I'm still once a month. This definitely helps keep my sanity! I love the Google calendar because you can do multiple calendars and color code, similar to how you have it in your spreadsheet. But it's great because you can set up recurring bills and your paychecks. You should definitely check it out! Also Grocery prices are still so high! I've been hoping for them to go down! I'm feeding 2 teenage boys! 😫
Ooo I will definitely checkout the google calendar!!! Grocery prices are insaaaane!! We try to cut it down but seriously it’s so hard and that budget includes like toilet paper, shampoo etc and it adds up so fast!
It was interesting to see how other people budget, good video. I'm glad to see that you're paying a good chunk on that Amazon card. Their interest rates are insane! I'm curious, are you planning to make extra principal only payments on the Jeep once the Amazon card is paid off and your Colorado trip is past? Interest on car loans is typically higher than what you get from your savings/investing interest, so on balance you could end up "losing" money on the savings side if you aren't paying the loan down early.
The Amazon interest rate is so bad!! I’m leading the Jeep so I won’t pay it off early but once we decide if we are going to buy it or lease/buy something else I’ll set up a savings goal for that!
Thank you for doing this. My husband and I are doing a spreadsheet on our debts and expenses. I need to quit using credit cards as a crutch. I finally came clean and we are working on this together! I can’t wait to see your engagement photos!!!!
Love that for you girl!! It’s SO nice to be able to be open and work together with your partner on things!! I posted some sneak peaks on my IG but should get all of the photos by mid December!! 😍
This is great! It’s definitely inspiring me to budget. We do use our credit card for all purchases and pay it off in full every month. I feel like we overspend a little doing that because dang it’s $1500 - $2000 every month. We did good in September with a very low spend month because we were trying to eat out of the freezer and pantry. But now it’s November and the holidays is definitely spend heavy with Christmas gifts and such. Keep these videos coming. Have a great trip to Colorado! Can’t wait to see the engagement photos. 🤗
That was my plan like get the CC benefits by using it all the time then pay it off but then I’d spend more than I had in my checking and the cycle goes on and that balance you can’t pay goes up and up and here we are😂 glad I’m tackling it!!
I love your budget simplicity! I look forward to more of your budget videos to help me. I get too bogged down in the details of all my spending numbers!!
I love this! I’ve been using an excel budget for years but I LOVE the idea of showing everything on a calendar. I never thought about doing it that way.
Oh my word: Zoe Prichard, jazmine at budget treasures, YNAB budget nerds are my tribe……hebudgets is all cash based but he’s great. Beautifully me and you is like, abundance personified. LymanJoy and the simple budget are two more good ones…the financial diet….smiley citrus does spreadsheets like you….so many good options for TH-cam financial channels. That’s maybe like, a quarter of the channels I follow.
I love these types of videos. I imagine, as an influencer, there’s some pressure to buy things to share with your audience, so it makes sense that you have some debt. Love the transparency
Girl social media pressure is so weird!! I don’t feel like I need to buy stuff because I have a TH-cam channel but just like having the cool new stuff, being extra organized with all clear bins, having the best skincare routine, the list goes on!! It’s so hard to not buy everything the internet is telling you that you need😂😂
Please send me tips on how!! It also covers toilet paper, cleaning profits, shampoo, etc etc! So all household items as well and any time I try to lower it we seem to go over the budgeted amount! Open to any tips you have🫶🏻
@@im_LaurenHays let me ask you a couple questions. Is your kitchen fridge the only fridge/freezer you have? What grocery stores are in your area? Do you eat leftovers at dinnertime or just for your lunches? What is your biggest financial goal? Credit card debt, saving for a house?
Love these types of videos. Definitely want to start working on a budget and getting out of debt. Thankfully we don't have much, but still every penny counts.
Loved this video! I am currently working to pay off debt too! I use a pen & paper to budget and I am currently doing the cash envelope method, but I have been thinking about switching to digital planning & envelopes! Not sure if it’s something that you would be interested in filming or not, but I would love to see a budget set up tutorial on how you set up your spreadsheet and the formulas to have it add/subtract everything for you! I’m not very good with excel, but I loved the simplicity of your budget!
I often rewrite my budget on paper because j feel like it keeps me motivated!!! I linked the spreadsheet for free in my description box if you want to check it out and start using it!!
Hi I love this video. I want to do budget video like this format, (for personal use as of now). Do you mind telling me how you record it, please? I understand if you don’t feel comfortable. Thank you, and again I really enjoy this video.
Hey girl! Sorry I just saw this, so I screen-recorded on my Mac while I was working on the spreadsheet then I also had my camera set up filming me then I just put the footage on top of each other while editing! Let me know if you need any more help:)
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Where do you live! Wow, your totally monthly expenses including everything is just the cost of my mortgage alone! 😢 I need to move!
Thanks so much!!! We live in San Antonio, Texas! Our total rent is $1,950 but we have the best landlord who has not upped it to match the rest of our neighborhood, pretty much every house where we live now is renting for $2200+ which is crazy to me!
Lauren, love all your videos! This real life budget one is such an awesome addition. Also here for your next chapter/journey til your wedding day. Feeling good in our own skin is so important, and it's something I am also on a constant journey with. Looking forward to your videos with your dietician!... And your follow up budget video! 😘
Yay thank you so so much!!! I had so much fun sharing this video and will for sure share more!! Maybe 1 to 2 budget videos a month along with my regular food and life content!🥰 I can’t wait to get closer to the wedding so I actually have to show y’all versus just telling you my ideas 😂
Thanks a lot! Think my husband just got turned on hearing me watch video on budgeting! Lol. I really appreciate you sharing this. Nothing more vulnerable than sharing financial info.
Thank you, Lauren. I really loved this video. It was honest and kind of raw. You are so right that budgets are important, but you also have to live your life. I love that you would make this a series. My main goal for 2024 is to get our family budget in order. I've been living like it's 2019 or something. 😂 Also, kudos to working with Erin again. I can't wait to watch your journey. Again, thanks for sharing and not trying hide your life. This was super helpful to see a "real" budget.
Yay thank you so much!!! I love seeing peoples real budgets and watch a lot of those videos so figured I would give it a try!! I will for sure make more along with my normal food and health content!! Can’t wait to share more with Erin!
It's so nice that you pay 50/50. Some people look at me like I am nuts that I don't stick my husband with all the bills, while I go out spending. 😅 we are 50/50!
Thank you for doing this video! I'm the same age as you and I've been trying to get in this same money mindset! Thank you for being open and vulnerable, it's not easy to share this kind of stuff. Something I had to do to get a reign on my spending, and something that I still do, is I look at all my credit cards on Monday and I pay them off. This way, monthly spending doesn't hit me over the head by surprise, and I can reflect on how I did that week or if I need to adjust my spending for the rest of the month! I'm also a kindle queen!! A great tip that I saw, and I've never looked back, is getting a local library membership because almost all libraries have an ebook/Kindle library! They usually have any book you can think of (even audiobooks). One down side is that for super new books there might be a couple month wait list, but I like to sign up for multiple book waitlists and they'll get checked out to me staggered over time, I love it and I don't have any guilt! Hope to see more budgeting 😍😍
Oh I love the every monday idea!! It’s so easy to not realize how many times you swiped the card and then the end of the month you’re like wait what😂 I’m going to set an alarm to do that weekly!! Also LOVE the library idea!!! For sure going to do that because sometimes books aren’t on the kindle so I wonder if the library would have them! Thanks so much, I love these ideas!!!
Love the template you used to balance. I really want to save or have a savings but everytime I think I can start a saving something comes up! The only place I can take from is groceries cause all other bills are a must. I have gotten better with cc debt. I had a huge cc debt that took me 5 yrs to pay off but now I hyperventilate when my cc gets to 2k lol but I guess that’s a good thing lesson learned 😁❤️
While married, always maintain a separate checking and savings account . One major account can be for household bill and needs but always have your individual accounts. It wil save any marriage....Too important.

I really loved this video. It was honest and kind of raw. You are so right that budgets are important, but you also have to live your life. I love that you would make this a series. My main goal for 2024 is to get our family budget in order. I've been living like it's 2019 or something. 😂
Also, kudos to working with Erin again.
👍
I loved this video and appreciate the transparency! It was super helpful and my husband and I love the calendar idea. Please continue this series ❤
Yay thank you so much!! I will!
Love this video! 💖
Thanks so much!!
Great video 😊
Thanks for watching!!
It's so nice that you pay 50/50. Some people look at me like I am nuts that I don't stick my husband with all the bills, while I go out spending. 😅 we are 50/50!
Yay thank you!! It works for us and until we join bank accounts it will be this way!
So true about credit cards. Yuck. I’m working hard to get a card paid off as well!!
Hang in there girl, we can do it!!!
Safe trip to you all!! Cant wait to see the photos and so excited for you both!! ❤️💙❤️💙
Thats awesome Amy! Getting out of debt is so so hard!!! I linked this template if you're interested! Its free and in the description box!
Check out my instagram if you have one, I shared the pictures there on my feed!!
Tyvm!!
Great video! Where can I get the pre-set spreadsheet?
Its now linked in my description! Thanks so much!
That was a great video
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Do you mind sharing or “selling” your spreadsheet? I need one and I’m rusty on excel and formulas.
It’s linked for free in my description box!!❤️❤️
Loved the video. Where are you going to move to?
We dont know yet but our lease is ending and we'd love to buy a house and maybe change cities!
@@im_LaurenHays I see. How exciting. Will it still be where you are able to still work with your dad?
How do figure your expenses another spreadsheet?
I try to fill in the "actual" tab as I go, but a tab where you can type your expenses and total them is super helpful for accuracy!
Do you have a phone bill too? Or is it a work benefit?
That would be a mom & dad benefit, we are on a big family plan with them and my sister and her husband! Love them for that!
While married, always maintain a separate checking and savings account . One major account can be for household bill and needs but always have your individual accounts. It wil save any marriage....Too important.
Yes this is our plan! Keeping our current accounts but opening one together for home and bills!
I’m a bit surprised you would discuss your finances so openly.
I guess I don’t see any reason for it to be so hush hush🕺🏻
