- How I installed a high clearance front receiver hitch on my ZJ for under $100. Something that wasn't shown in the video is I enlarged the holes where the mounts fit into the unibody tubes so the mounts would fit. Easily done with a cutoff wheel and angle grinder. If you don't have the factory recovery hooks you will need some big washers or make a plate for that side to sandwich the side of the unibody tube. I hope this video helps someone that wants a tucked-away front receiver on their ZJ.
What to buy:
Stock rear receiver hitch off of a 2003 to 2006 Ford Expedition (or any receiver hitch that has straight 2.5" tubing at least 32.5" wide and the receiver part comes out from the center): $35 from Pick-N-Pull
Mounting brackets: $47 from sendcutsend.com/

Order Qty 2 in 1/4" thick mild steel, dxf file dimensions are in mm.
Qty 8 M10 x 1.5 nuts (preferably uncoated for easier welding): $5

@@Josh4066 I probably won't be competing in any extreme mud races but I can pretty much do what I did before. I just finished riding my bicycle down the whole coast of Oregon. I can't kneel on the floor as easily as I could before.
Isn't there some kind of kit I can just order and do exactly what you did without the welding in the cutting

Thank you for doing so, with this bracket I am going to try to repeat what you did. Problem is in the file on goggle drive there are no measurements, just the cut our design. Am I looking at the file wrong or did the measurements not upload?
@@andreww8529 it can't have dimensions on it because the lines in the file is what gets cut. You can probably download a free dxf viewer that you can measure from.
@@alexkram I’ll be going through sendcutsend to have this done. Will giving this file to them be enough or will I first have to extrapolate the measurements?
@@andreww8529 the file is enough, it is the exact file I used in their website: mm dimensions, 1/4 mild steel, qty 2.

I took mine up there in the snow too. It was a bit too deep for me, pushing snow with the axles.
Thanks Alex for the video, AutoCad file and info on sendCutsend. I sent a couple emails to your gmail but no response back yet. Was asking about tire size and wheels you had or have on your ZJ. Dick Cepek is what they look like but curious as to width and height of tires. Look forward to more videos of your Grand Cherokee btw?
