- This is of course based on Shane’s route and my farmer-sona.
I have been wanting to do a full song animatic for a long time and I have finally done it!
I am so proud of it and I want to make more in the future, there are quite a few ideas I have had since I was 11 so I will work on those when I can.

Along Shane's Route I really fell in love with him (I should seek therapy lol) at first it's frustrating even more with him being rude but I can say, it was so worth marrying him!🤧❤

Amazing how a farm simulator game has better romantic relationships than most Hollywood movies these days.
I think what hits me hardest about Shane is that he’s me. Down to the dead end job and the depression, he’s me. And romancing him is like saving myself. And six years later, his story still makes me cry.

Shane was my first Stardew spouse. I'd originally planned on dating Penny but that third day in spring when Shane told me to get lost when I introduced myself in the rain, my first thought was "Challenge accepted." ;)
He tells us to get lost and we simply say “no”
Oh gosh that was the same for me, I wanted to get with Sebastian but seeing Shane say no to me just made me want to friend him. Then marry him.

Oh my god I am unhealthily in love with Shane. I think it's because I understand how hard it is to live with anxiety and depression and every time he said something self-deprecating or when he expressed his thoughts about suicide, I attached myself to him. After I married him, and he started becoming happier I was so excited. Plus, let's be honest here, he's absolutely adorable

I’m crying it’s too cute!! Shane’s story in stardew valley holds a very special place in my heart and I imagine myself actually there instead of just the person controlling the person that’s there that cliffs irl make me anxious because it reminds me of his heart event...

Shane was the first ever villager I romanced in Stardew. His story threw me for a complete loop, as I didn’t know anything about the characters. He was so stubborn and it drew me in. I don’t regret my choice, as Shane has become my favorite character now.

I seriously don't understand people who don't love Shane, like as a fellow tired of life person, I was gonna romanticise him just so he has a redemption arc 😭
I think it's because I see myself in Shane. I always want to think of something to drown my anxiety and depression. And seeing myself in him, I just help him as I would like to be helped. I have suicidal thoughts from time to time, depression, I always think I can't get out of the hole I'm in and it eats me up inside, I've tried several times to get a job and to this day I'm unemployed.
Shane's storyline makes me so emotional... T_T I've actually bawled my eyes out during that cliff cutscene... (I've been struggling with depression for a long time as well so I guess I could just relate very much)
I think my favorite part is that he probably never thinks someone could love him because of all his "flaws", but when someone really tries he let's them in despite his insecurities.
I'm playing stardew Valley my 1st run through. I have 3 bachelors I'm considering, but my heart always comes back to Shane 💖
Everytime I make a new save and plan to marry someone else it always comes back to Shane

I feel this song would work for many other characters:
Sebby feeling not as good as maru
Penny dealing with so many emotions and stress (from pam)
Alex not being so tough on the inside (No issue w/ that, its just something he might hate about himself)
Haley knowing that she can be so spoiled and rude sometimes
Leah having no self confidence in her art, and feeling really broke (also you could do the farmer POV with leah because the farmer feels as though they are never going to be as good as kel)

This almost feels nostalgic in some way- Shane was my first spouse and honestly I didn’t fully understand the elements of depression when I first went through his events but they hit way harder years later

I just started playing Stardew 3 weeks ago and I didn’t really think I would get attached to Shane.. I knew he was probably a good person but he just didn’t want to talk to me at first.. slowly I started to fall more in love with him.. I struggled with suicide and depression before so his story was extremely relatable to me.. then I saw that he slowly started to make changes and became a happier person.. that’s when I knew I had to give him the bouquet.. after the 10 heart cutscene I proposed that day.. I couldn’t wait any longer.. I didn’t have a wedding dress or veil but I wanted to marry him right there.. the amount of character development he has just made me fall in love with him.. I’m so happy that I’m his wife and for my first play through he’s my first husband..
This is single-handedly the best animatic I have seen. The song choice was impeccable and the art style was INSANELY good. This video portrays the emotions I felt while playing the game and none of my friends understood why I love Shane so I sent them this video to explain it. This is something really special, it put my emotions into something tangible and I am sure I'm not the only one who connected with this video. It takes real talent and skill to be able to connect with people and you have done it to an incredible extent!

I know I'm a year late, but I cried of how sweet this was. I pick Abigail, usually, but I always have Shane as my best friend. The first time I got the cliff cut scene, I was panicking. I was so happy when he didn't roll. I love this so much. Your an amazing artist.

I was never really a big fan of Shane. He reminded me to much of my own father, and it was scary how everyone seemed to romantice something that left me with so much scars in my child and teenage years.
Eventually I played through his route, when I got Stardew for myself. I never went through with the romantic side - since, as stated, Shane reminds me of my father and it would be extremely uncomfortable - but I was able to realize why so many people liked him. Cause I think I saw a little bit of myself in Shane, and being able to tell him it would be okay and watching him strive to be better made me feel better. Almost like I was saving myself, like I was saving my father.
I'll never understand how people can see Shane in a romantic light, but I think understand why he's a fan favorite now.
(P.S: This animatic was really pretty, and the art style was so cute. I can't wait to see more of your work!)
I had the EXACT same feelings, i adore his character but I can not romance him because he reminds me of my father (and want I want for him. To become sober, to see he has people who love him and he loves in return, for that love to be enough for him not to turn to alcohol). My best friend romances him every time he plays and I like to tease him we’re two sides of ‘daddy issues’. All in good jest, and he teases me right back. Still. I adored this animation
I think for a lot of people it's a savior complex. They find it romantic to save someone and it also increases their self esteem, but it's actually a very unhealthy dynamic irl. It can be a fun fantasy but real life doesn't turn out as well as stories
tho for some it's just because he's relatable and you can trauma-bond with him
As a person who sees Shane in a romantic light, it's because just like you, I relate myself to him very hard. I romanticize him because I want someone to love me like the farmer loves him. Someone to be there for me like the farmer is for him. It warms my heart and sometimes I am jealous of Shane when he gets with the farmer.
Edit: lots of people have a savior complex when getting with Shane, and it's so unhealthy. I personally am with him just because I want to be there for him. Just like how I would want someone to be there for me.

i watched this when it was first released and it honestly gets me teary eyed, every time i do watch it cause of how much i relate to shane. i went after him the first time i played stardew, and being a recovering alcoholic myself, and having very tough times in my past i got so invested with him as i play even if i dont date/marry him hes one of the first i always befriend. amazing video hun

I remember my first time playing the game was with my friend and I had 0 knowledge about any of the bachelours or Bachelorettes. I immediately liked Shane, maybe because of his "shut up, leave me alone" attitude that I saw myself in him, but I absolutely loved the slow burn as the character gets closer to him despite his cold exterior. My friends and I later on joke around that "I have a thing for alcoholics" which is all just for laughs, but he is so sweet after you marry him, and seeing his progress just fills my heart.
Seeing this video just makes me love Shane more than I already do 😢😊

Definitely a very beautiful animation. I'm not married to Shane but I gave him the bouquet, and the truth is that Shane is my favorite character, after Alex, I never knew why the depression, if it was because of Something from his past or just to fill the game, but hey. Also, beautiful animation.

This video brought back a lot of memories from when I had comphet for Shane, back in 2019. I think what happened was that, like many of the other commenters, I saw myself in him, from the love of chickens to being suicidal, and I initially mistook that comforting feeling of familiarity for a crush.
I'm only suicidal on-and-off now, and, interestingly, what has really helped me lately is going to the local farm once a week. I have a special connection to animals that I don't feel with humans. While I have social anxiety with humans, with animals, I feel at ease, as though I'm one of their kind and I belong there.
Update: I haven't gone to the farm in a while (maybe 2 months) due to extreme heat. I really miss my animal friends. Then, TH-cam randomly recommended me a bunch of Stardew Valley videos, so I picked up the game again.
I'm almost through summer year one. I just upgraded my house, I have a dog and two chickens who I love very dearly, and Shane is my boyfriend again. I couldn't help myself. After all, the farm kept my crippling mental illness at bay, and now...
Anyways, TH-cam recommended me this video just now, and honestly, I envy my past self. I can't help but feel like I took the real farm for granted even though it's my own intolerance to 90+ degree weather that's holding me back. At least I have the virtual farm to tie me over (somewhat)...

Shane is the best. He's a sweet guy, despite being standoffish at first. I have such a soft spot for him. I've tried going after the other spouses, but I always drift back to him. I love him so much.

Gah!!! This is so precious it hurts! Great art style, great timing, great song choice, great everything. I've been working on unlocking all of Shane's friendship heart events over the last week and gah.... I only tried to do it for the blue chickens (because I love love love chickens), but man, those cut scenes got freaking real. And this animatic is so perfect.

So a 2 days ago I felt down. I went up to the water on a bridge, and was looking for a reason not to jump. I laid on the ground, cried, and was about to go when my bf called in absolute despair. He knows he can't fix me. He knows I wont heal with just some love. But he can help. That's who I want to be for shane. The day after my breakdown I saw this animatic. I think ive seen it at least 15 times since then, and I get teary every time. Thanks, cause if I would've jumped I might not have seen this
