Yes you can do, but make some extra gear for low level hero because you need extra queue for foundry, frostfire. But you can use most of low gear to upgrade high gear

If you use 10 arena attempts, it will be very difficult to save for lucky wheel Use your as many speedup as possible in svs For now, focus only on Greg Your Alonso and Philly will be almost 3 star when you reach gen 4 because they will appear in recruitment and intel

Greg will be better. If you have two marksman, it is not any problem. Everyone need every hero as double, because when one hero will go to attack outside, other hero will defend your city

Who cares about exploration though? Expedition is what matters. So in Gen 2 I went for Flint and Alonso, in gen 3 I think I'll upgrade only Mia, because in gen 4 I will get Ahmose and Lynn. And why would you say Philly was the easy p2w hero? She was the most difficult to obtain for me, Alonso was the easy one because you can get him in Hall of heroes. Hall of chief heroes are the difficult ones, and Philly was the worst pick in gen2.
In every gen, there are two p2w, one is easy and other is hard. For gen 2 , Philly is easy because you can get her in fortress, king of icefield, hero's mission including hall of heroes. But only source of Alonso shard is hall of heroes If you are strong in exploration, you can win many arena battle and get arena coin and buy mythic gear which can help in expedition

From my gameplay experience, it's almost impossible to rank high enough in events, in order to unlock an "easy P2W hero". And the other sources require to spend money. Philly is easy p2w because you can get the shard from king of icefield, hero's missions, fortress event including hall of heroes. But only source of Alonso shard is hall of heroes You have to save good amount of item from whole month and use them in king of icefield or any other big event

When you start the game, in first 2 hall of chiefs leaderboard you get Jeronimo shard. The work is difficult but not impossible. You have to save enough items and use them in Hall of chief to enter top leaderboard
