I remember seeing games like Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing for the first time and just being stunned. I loved the thing to bits when me and my brother finally were able to get one.
Memory's right before Xbox release I had Dreamcast, PS1 and N64 at the time. My brother says I'm getting an Xbox at launch. I'm like ok? Who needs another console... Brother gets console, Puts on Halo. After hearing that theme song I was hooked. Once he let me play it. I had to have an Xbox week later I had Xbox and Halo. Another week later after my friends played my copy of Halo. They all got Xbox's and Halo. We lived in the campaign and having Lan Parties. After Halo 2 came out. I got internet just for Halo 2 and spent 10hrs a day playing Halo 2 online...Good times. Still to this day, Halo is my all-time fav series. and I have finished all Halo games 100s of times. I read the books, I love Halo 4 and 5... I'm am dying to see Halo Infinite gameplay And I thought I was a hardcore gamer before Halo.
That whole generation the Xbox, Gamecube & PS2 I enjoyed them all and still do. Still have my original Xbox (modified now) but it is my go to for that generation. Though each had their select games that I will only play on those.
Halo was great with a cousin or friend, never replayed a game so much times. Xbox had the best ports, best, pc ports, best online games... I love it vs ps2. Also the first 5.1 surround sound system it was amazing back then, and then adding your own music in games like Amped, and tony Hawk another amazing thing back then.
Picked up og xbox day one with the DoA2 Ultimate, Project Gotham Racing, and Halo bundle, unforgettable times in my gaming life. Especially coming from Dreamcast and getting these sequels or continuations was amazing.
My introduction to the xbox was awesome, it had to be 03-04. We had a ps2 and gamecube since my father was still a big gamer at that point. We went into an electronics boutique and he saw knights of the old republic on the shelf. Being the huge star wars fans we were, we couldn't believe a game like this could exist, especially on a console. My Dad said "Well it looks like we're buying an Xbox today." That was one of the coolest things he'd ever done. Still love the console to this day
The interesting thing is Retro Gamer magazine did a feature on the original X Box a couple of years ago & amazingly no mention was made of Morrowind 😲 the GOTY edition is my favorite game on the system all 2000+ hours of my life I'll never get back it still ranks for me the best Elder Scrolls game ....
lil rattlehead it my favorite too, when it came out there was nothing like it spending hundreds of hours was easy in that game. I like Oblivion but not Skyrim.
My best friend had an Original Xbox and we use to play Halo together every weekend back in 2001 or 2002. I still remember seeing the trailer for Halo 2 and played it at a party years later. Now that the Halo master chief collection is available for PC we might get to play og Halo since we now live in different states. Those are some great relatable video game memories.
I remember the first time I saw an Xbox in my local circuit city, I got it the Christmas of ‘02 with Jet Set Radio Future and that game represented the artsy weirdness that was the Xbox during those early years.
Microsoft had people showing off halo running at software and etc and once i seen it and heard the sound effects, i was super sold. I barely touched my ps2 after i got my xbox. Xbox live was amazing when that released. I played unreal championship non stop. Great great times.
capcomfan82 Unreal Championship is awesome wish that was Backwards Compatible, they need to Remaster that. The online was timeless Geothermal CTF with shock rifle! Still holds up today vs the bots they are pretty good!
I got my Xbox for Christmas in 2002, with Shenmue II, Halo, Unreal Championship, Splinter Cell, and Hitman 2. I got Xbox Live a year later in 2003 and got to experience Phantasy Star Online, Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six 3, and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I miss playing games from this era (2002-2007) and nowadays, I just play some of the newest titles (single player only) or revisit games from my earlier years (90's-early 2000's). I go back to my original Xbox ever so often and revisit some great games. i have close to 150 games on my shelf for the console and only a few are just filler, like Turok Evolution haha.
I was a bit late in getting my original Xbox, which I got with Halo in February 2004 and I never looked back. I got both exclusives and multiplats for the system and quickly became a big fan to where I eventually built up a collection of around 300 games for it, and the Xbox sign in my profile pic is the same one you sold to me on game gavel awhile ago, and it’s the center piece of my game room.
Some of the games I played the most on Xbox are Jet Set Radio Future, Blinx The Time Sweeper, Splinter Cell Stealth Action Redefined, and Fuzion Frenzy.
Y'know I don't think you ever did a collection video for your original Xbox games. Would you ever consider doing some of those videos for the systems you didn't get around to back in the day, like this, the PSV, 3DS, PS1 and so on? And how about update videos for the others since its been over a decade since most of those were done? I think we'd all love to see those :)
I got an Xbox for halo 2 and mechassult. The system came with star wars and I loved the star wars. The first game I bought with my own money was madden 2003. I got the game for $0.99 from blockbuster. The small blockbuster went out of business but the big one stayed open for another 10 years
Hey Pete it’s me Potatokiller from the streams great video just like all of your videos i really enjoy watching your videos and also your streams you recommended so many great games keep it the great work also i started to collecting video games because of you i will stop by your new stream and enjoy my time and talk about games with a amazing community👍
Pete I'm really glad you're back on yt. To anyone reading I just beat remember me and alice in wonderland. Anyone have the means to play these I had a lotta fun. Take care
I think being a few years younger gave me a really different Xbox experience. I received mine as a Confirmation gift (my parents were trying to make a big deal out of it) and so I got Halo. I ended up having a ton of Halo LAN parties with friends. The only other release I remember spending a lot of time with was Splinter Cell, which cemented my love for stealth games. Funny how much opposite I ended up being! I did play a little Halo 2 online, but I definitely felt the LAN parties were the "real" Halo multiplayer since I also was playing CS 1.6 not long after.
I remember Carson Daly from MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) talking about the original Xbox. He said the “graphics are sick.” Those were the good old days😌
My main memories of the original xbox are playing the hell out knights of the old republic 1/2 and jade empire and playing a lot of kung fu chaos with my friends.
Original xbox was basically the Dreamcast 2 for me as so many Sega games had sequels on there. It was my main console that generation and I mostly ignored the ps2. It was really annoying that GTA was a timed exclusive for ps2, so I had to rent that console when they came out.
Another Fantastic video! I just hooked up my og xb Monday to play a stack of games Armed and Dangerous by Lucasarts,Broken Sword:The Sleeping 🐉 and Crazy 🚕3. thanks so much for another video!😊
“Xbox One Series X” - this name is a problem, this isn’t confused grandmothers thinking Wii and Wii U are the same thing, it’s hardcore lifelong gamers.
I didn’t have a original Xbox when they were new but my friend Nate had one and we played so much Halo 1 & 2 it was so dope! We also played Tony Hawk and you used to be able to download your own music to the Xbox and skate around to it, it was awesome... we also played Max Payne 😁... good times
Everyone talks about how you have to replace a certain capacitor in all OG XBOX consoles. I managed to get a North American Crystal XBOX around 2014, the see through one, and I am always on edge thinking if I should just invest the time into trying to replace it myself before the cap leaks damaging fluids on the board, or just finding a guy around me here in Southern California who could replace it in a quick minute. I sure don't want to leave it to be damaged, but life is so busy and someone handy at fixing consoles around me would be dope.
Love hearing this stuff man. I got my ps2 maybe 2 or 3 years after it dropped with the network adapter and never played a single game online because I had dialup and AOL charged an additional fee. Later on when I did get dsl I finally played socom 1, killzone, and mk armageddon. My only experience with the original Xbox live was playing halo 2 online on my 360 through backwards compatibility.
Seems your experience of getting into xbox for online was the popular thing to do going by what games sold the best and what are most common to find now. I feel a lot of the xbox library is looked over for not being popular back in the day, I'd love to hear some more of what games you are getting into recently without online.
14:20 did not ever expect this recommendation - this game was the reason I was torn between the Gamecube and OG Xbox, purely from the look of Azurik's world. I was reading a lot of Robert E. Howard at the time and this arabian style look mirrored the deserts of Cimmeria in my mind. There was actually a joke comicbook style section in the Official UK Xbox magazine called "Xbox Man" which parodied the game as a bad choice to impress.
The game that made me get my og Xbox was Yugioh Dawn of Destiny I was a big fan of YuGiOh at the time but this one didn't click for me. After that, I just bought mainly the big hitters like Halo and Morrowind and the occasional hidden gem like Stubbs the Zombie I ended up selling it all off because I wanted to get into the PlayStation Portable, all in all, I must have had the system for about 2 years before I sold it.
i actually don't remember if i got my xbox on the exact day it came out but i do remember going into game crazy and getting both enter the matrix and spartan total warrior at the same time and plus i remember getting halo 2 for Christmas. i also remember getting agent under fire and black for my birthday and getting the godfather game when it came out in 2006!
I never owned an original Xbox, but I would like to because there are games on the console that I'm interested in playing, such as Morrowind, KOTOR, Jade Empire, Breakdown, and Panzer Dragoon Orta. I also already have a few original Xbox games, with the standout ones possibly being Halo, Castlevania Curse of Darkness, and DOOM 3 Limited Collectors Edition, which I do wanna play, especially Castlevania Curse of Darkness, because I did borrow an original Xbox from a friend mainly to play Castlevania, and I was amazed.
I got my Xbox from a friend just like 3 years ago, there are games I wanted to get there and still looking, I have an X now but stuff like Jet Set Radio Future are still bound there.
My parents bought me an Xbox for Christmas - I was a brat and was disappointed, I wanted a playstation or gamecube at the time and I was a dumb kid. That was a long time ago, I am adult now and I have apologized to them several times for being a brat and I actually loved the console a lot. I have a lot of great memories with it and still own it.
Gd talk man! In Australia I never went online on the OG Xbox but loved it hey. I had Wolfenstein and Max Payne on it and played the hell outta them hey. Since then I’ve bought 2 modded ones and also ones modded and it’s a limited edition Halo one, pretty cool. Need to fix up the HD on it, make it bigger. I play all my OG Xbox games on 360 now, they play great on it as it has a Jtag mod. I collect OG games too so I’m not full coppin’ free games. Love your vids bro!!!! Keep it up! See ya soon!
It's great to finally hear your thoughts and background with the OG Xbox. I think its one of the only consoles you never did a collection video of back in the day (like with your PS2, gamecube videos). You rarely mentioned it back in the day. I don't think you mentioned the controllers though. Did you like the original "Duke" controller or did you like the S-type more? My exposure to Xbox as a kid was my best friend next door had it. Remember playing alot of Secret weapons over normandy, grabbed by the ghoulies, and star wars battlefront. Republic commandos was really cool to play also.
Best part about the original Xbox? Almost every game is cheap and available at thrift stores etc for like 1-2 bucks a pop. I’ve accumulated something like 430 OG Xbox games this way lol.
Yep. Wanted to buy silent hill 4 for the longest but the PS2 version was close to $100 while the Xbox version was around $30-$40. What’s great is Xbox versions of multiplats are cheaper and run better.
I bought my Xbox close after launch with a loan through the shop! Shortly after Microsoft cut £100 off the price in the U.K. pretty quickly. Anyone who had already bought one got a couple of free games and a controller off them as compensation.
Pete is if your getting back into stealth games I highly recommend the Hitman reboot, It’s not my favorite genre but Hitman is so good. Stealth, puzzle, fun trial and error experimentation!
Hey Pete great video! I also didn't feel much for the original Fable. But i gotta say that Fable 2, has a special kind of style and atmosphere and i recommend you to take a look at it. Some of my favorite OG Xbox games are: - Oddworld's Strangers Wrath - Ninja Gaiden - Splinter Cell - Panzer Dragoon Orta - Chronicles of Riddick - Halo - Jet Set Radio Future - Black - Return tot Castle Wolfenstein - Shenmue 2
14:20 - Azurik: Rise of Perathia. I just looked this up and man it looks fantastic. I watched the opening cinematic and it was great. It's a shame those guys gave up making games and instead make ports of crappy games now. Adrenium Games, was a sub studio of Amaze Entertainment Inc. which was a member of a group of design studios known as Foundation 9. Amaze Entertainment Inc. changed their name to Griptonite Games.
Oh hey, it's you again! I still haven't played kotor. Now that I have a desktop again I'm actually looking forward to finally playing that and Jade Empire though.
I got the Xbox over the Gamecube for a few reasons. The overall look was better for xbox. The gamecube looked like a lunchbox. I was looking for more mature games at the time. I think my friends thought the same and man the Halo1 LAN parties we had were amazing. Def some of the most fun I've had in my life. I never owned a gamecube. Looking back on it I wish I did but I don't regret my memories from Xbox one bit.
Sadly I never got into the original XBOX. That was the time I was falling out of gaming for a few years. I did have Halo, Fable, and KOTOR though. I only beat Halo. I need to go back and play more from that gen and console
I was pretty late getting an Xbox, but got mine eventually in mid 2004. Halo was my first game and I was just amazed. Glad I was able to get the Xbox before Halo 2 cause it was another huge hit for Microsoft. Funny though, I think I mostly bought shooters for the Xbox. I think it was cause they looked better and played smoother on Xbox. Great memories with the first Xbox.
Dude, I thought you would never upload again Edit: I know you have been dealing with a lot lately, I am just so happy to see you back Edit 2: And he's dead again Edit 3: You know, just don't make anymore videos
Morrowind was amazing on OG Xbox, I got the game of the year edition which had some improved features and dlc, how they squeezed it all on that disc I don’t know.
Hey Pete - You did a video several years ago, may have been a tour where you showed a Gameboy lenticular poster. 1. Could you do a video on that poster, where you got it from, have you seen any being sold in recent years, any idea of the value? 2. Would you sell it if you still have it ? :) Thanks !!
I was the same as you Pete, I went for the Gamecube at launch because of Rogue Squadron and Luigi's Mansion, I don't think I got the Xbox until the following Christmas after reading a magazine featuring Halo. I was at University during Halo 1 and 2 and I have fond memories playing 4 player split screen and later online with Halo 2 and Xbox Live. Will you get both the new consoles around launch this time?
I'm 35 and was recently telling some zoomers in my gc about getting the original Xbox back in the day originally I wasn't gonna get it but then it went from like 150$ down toole 80$ or so I forget exactly what the dollar figure was I just remember when Microsoft first saw that oh we aren't competing at a similar price as the ps2 so let's just drop it so we get our product into gamers hands I found out quickly I preferred their controller and that of the games made on both platforms Xbox seemed to do them better it was a an interesting time in gaming and I appreciate the video on your memories bud
I agree with some of these comments, you should do some updated collection videos, we all know you have at least some gems for every console you’d like to talk about. I wish twitch was on roku
I never owned an OG Xbox until a few years ago. I could of got one early 00’s because at my work Christmas party I won a new PS2 but I already had one. Another guy won the Xbox but he already had one.. you know where this is going. Now, that didn’t happen because he had a controlling wife who immediately got up when he won it and said “that’s going right back where it came from!” all loud and he was embarrassed. She wouldn’t let him trade me.
Seeing Pete on YT is like being visited by an old friend ; D
Exactly how I feel
Same lol i went back to find this legend!
Honestly i could listen to you talk about games all day.
I agree. His videos are very relaxing and reminiscent of older TH-cam. These type of videos you don't see much anymore
Same
@@solarwinds5114 Very true. I get pretty exhausted with a lot of the editing people do in newer videos.
24:11 that is the reason i got the xbox for splinter cell 1 2 3 i love that games
I remember seeing games like Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing for the first time and just being stunned. I loved the thing to bits when me and my brother finally were able to get one.
I'm always happy to see new Pete videos pop up in my feed!
The computer glare in Pete’s glasses heals my soul
"Xbox had Halo..... and.....Mad Dash Racing."
Can't believe you forgot that one of the best games of all time was in the Xbox launch: *SHREK*
By the creator of Spawn, Todd MacFarlane!
Which version of shrek?
Glad to see you back in my subscription feed!
Memory's right before Xbox release
I had Dreamcast, PS1 and N64 at the time.
My brother says I'm getting an Xbox at launch.
I'm like ok? Who needs another console...
Brother gets console, Puts on Halo. After hearing that theme song I was hooked.

I was obsessed with wrestling back then so I got the xbox for WWF RAW. The graphics for it blew the competition away.
That whole generation the Xbox, Gamecube & PS2 I enjoyed them all and still do. Still have my original Xbox (modified now) but it is my go to for that generation. Though each had their select games that I will only play on those.
We need to support this guy a lot more on here so he can make more content. I enjoy listening to his calm voice talking about games.

This brings me back. I remember my brother coming home and just plugged this bad boy in and loaded up some halo ce...I fell in love immediately.
Something about the first Halo game, booting it up when it was new, it was mind blowing. Halo 2 I enjoyed but it felt very different.

I was actually scared of Luigi's mansion as a kid 🤣
It's wild to see that starter kit again all these years later, I sadly never kept mine. Great vid, thanks for sharing the memories!

Project Gotham and a few months later Gun Valkyrie. Original Xbox was a blast.

Good to see u !
Loving the consistent uploads! 😁
I love these memories of videos
Best part about the original Xbox? Almost every game is cheap and available at thrift stores etc for like 1-2 bucks a pop. I’ve accumulated something like 430 OG Xbox games this way lol.
Yep. Wanted to buy silent hill 4 for the longest but the PS2 version was close to $100 while the Xbox version was around $30-$40. What’s great is Xbox versions of multiplats are cheaper and run better.
Loving that you're posting so often on yt again Pete, hope you're well man
We need another sleepin with pete haha
I remember playing Xbox it was fun a lot of ghost recon Summit strike 2
Some of my favorite OG Xbox games are:
- Oddworld's Strangers Wrath
- Ninja Gaiden
- Splinter Cell
- Panzer Dragoon Orta
- Chronicles of Riddick
- Halo
- Jet Set Radio Future
- Black
- Return tot Castle Wolfenstein
- Shenmue 2
14:20 - Azurik: Rise of Perathia.
I just looked this up and man it looks fantastic. I watched the opening cinematic and it was great. It's a shame those guys gave up making games and instead make ports of crappy games now.
Adrenium Games, was a sub studio of Amaze Entertainment Inc. which was a member of a group of design studios known as Foundation 9.
Amaze Entertainment Inc. changed their name to Griptonite Games.
kotor was my reason to get the xbox. loved that game
Oh hey, it's you again!
I still haven't played kotor. Now that I have a desktop again I'm actually looking forward to finally playing that and Jade Empire though.
I had so much fun on my original xbox.
I see you've received your new chair! Hope it's helping for your back!
Love to see you back Pete . I have heard rumors of an All Gen Gamers podcast REUNION special. Lol ..... just saying
Dude, I thought you would never upload again
Edit: I know you have been dealing with a lot lately, I am just so happy to see you back
Edit 2: And he's dead again
Edit 3: You know, just don't make anymore videos
He's pretty much fulltime on Twitch now I think.
Come back! need you for quarantine
I bought the OG Xbox with Halo and Splinter Cell in a Bundle back then 👌😎
I was the same as you Pete, I went for the Gamecube at launch because of Rogue Squadron and Luigi's Mansion, I don't think I got the Xbox until the following Christmas after reading a magazine featuring Halo. I was at University during Halo 1 and 2 and I have fond memories playing 4 player split screen and later online with Halo 2 and Xbox Live. Will you get both the new consoles around launch this time?
I could listen to you talk for hours bro no homo #LOVEFROMSERBIA
The fact you haven’t played Fable two or three is a shame Pete. Lmao
Project Gotham Racing sold the system to me.... and Stubbs.
Unreal Championship. Loved that game.
I'm 35 and was recently telling some zoomers in my gc about getting the original Xbox back in the day originally I wasn't gonna get it but then it went from like 150$ down toole 80$ or so I forget exactly what the dollar figure was I just remember when Microsoft first saw that oh we aren't competing at a similar price as the ps2 so let's just drop it so we get our product into gamers hands I found out quickly I preferred their controller and that of the games made on both platforms Xbox seemed to do them better it was a an interesting time in gaming and I appreciate the video on your memories bud
miss you pete hope to see a new vid soon
I miss that old original xbox
nice video man.
Another great video
I agree with some of these comments, you should do some updated collection videos, we all know you have at least some gems for every console you’d like to talk about. I wish twitch was on roku
I never owned an OG Xbox until a few years ago. I could of got one early 00’s because at my work Christmas party I won a new PS2 but I already had one. Another guy won the Xbox but he already had one.. you know where this is going. Now, that didn’t happen because he had a controlling wife who immediately got up when he won it and said “that’s going right back where it came from!” all loud and he was embarrassed. She wouldn’t let him trade me.
Great video Pete! I do miss All Gen Gamers
Best podcast of all times IMO . Nothing against Metal Jesus but the original cast with Happyconsolegamer was incredible.
Hey random question man! Looking at your old videos.. Do you have a Jak 2 statue? I’d be willing to buy if you have one to sale.
Hi Pete i love your videos
