I remember using them way back in the 1960’s at Brentwood in Essex, quite good fun, long before telephone books were installed, ten they were updated to dialing handsets, now lost in the passing of time.

They should have taken the whole phone box to the BT museum.
Last one I ever used was around 1988/9 up at the very top of Scotland somewhere near Tongue or Eriboll in the middle of nowhere.. ☎️
