Landlords who live in the building are generally more caring about the apartment they rent out and keep on top of repairs - generally. Your have a lovely apartment.

Basement apartments can be a great option as they're usually cheaper than similar sized above ground apartments in the same neighbourhood. I know many people worry about lack of light, but that's just a good excuse to get outside for a daily walk.
The place looks great. So well-appointed. Can't believe you can just film without special lighting - a testament to the white paint bouncing all those pot lights around. I lived in some pretty dingy Toronto basements BITD, so I truly appreciate your home. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I live in a basement apartment too! East York. I love where I live. The key to living well in a basement apartment is making it cozy, finding a place with big windows/lots of windows, bright WARM lighting and a CO alarm.
