Completely agree. I had a hard time finding them and my lfs wasn't interested in the babies because they don't sell well but that's probably because they don't color up until they get aggressive.
Would you mind giving me a stock list. I am settinh up a 75. Nice tank....i subscribed! Id like to keep 1 female bc the color is so nice.. Thinking of an electric blue acara, rainbow cichlid, polar blue, platinum polar, along with one red tail as a stock list with tiger and black Ruby barbs as dithers. I know it depends on the fish, but do u see big issues with this?
Thanks for the sub. Check out my video on the whole tank. I put the stocking in the description. th-cam.com/video/1fkd1wJs8fE/w-d-xo.html Just make sure you have a few backup tanks to move fish around in. I feel like my tank is overstocked but I spent months watching these guys and moving fish in between 3 different tanks until I found a combination that worked. Maybe it's the overstocking that does it but these guys all do very well together, it just took a while to get to that and it's amazing that I didn't lose any. Is that a red tail catfish? That's not one I've kept but I think they need a bit bigger setup. For a 75 if you want a cat I would go with the smaller synodondits, a bn pleco, or maybe a blue or green phantom. The rest of that list i would say as long as you have a backup plan you might be able to do it but just be prepared to intervene or possibly re-home some. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
@FwishList Thank you for the detailed reply. I was talking about a red tail shark (carp). Typically they are aggressive but usually only bother similar shaped species like Denison Barb. That's why I switched to tiger barbs as a dither choice
@FwishList I had a 75 a few years ago with a blood parrot, polar blue, , elec blue acara, rainbow cichlid, green severum and a red dot severum a synspyllum with rope fish and filament barbs that worked well. Trying to have a better understanding this time around of what I am doing now that I have more time and already have multiple tank syndrome. Still cycling the first tank to get myself back into hobby, a 37 top fin that will hold peaceful gourami and gold rams as the centerpiece along with neons. No ammonia but still have 1 to 2 ppm nitrites for a week in a half now. Taking forever. That's why I want to get the 75 up and running. I'd like to start stocking it by January. Seeing an old video I had on my phone set me back into central and south cichlids....eventually I'll try Africans if I make it to larger tanks.
Sounds like you've got the mts bug. So hard to pick. I actually had a red tail shark with this group when they were smaller. It did actually kind of pester everyone in the tank and then one day I found it dead. Not sure what happened but my theory is that the green terror said "enough is enough" and took matters into it's own hands. After that it was the aggressive one. Since then it's mellowed out. Just goes to show how unpredictable these guys can be. Sounds like you need to find a friend with a dirty sponge to finish out that cycle. It's always easier to cycle tanks when you've got them running but I do remember when I had to wait a month for the first one. Takes too long but it sounds like you're doing it right. Good luck figuring out what you want and I'd love to hear what you end up going with.
I love these guys👍🏾👍🏾 thanks for subscribing💯💯
Yeah thank you too. Just checking out a few of your videos and it looks like you've got quite a few tanks too. Pretty awesome.
Cool fish, thanks for sharing.

Not colored up in the pet store unfortunately
Beautiful species that I’ve never had. What size tank is that if I may ask?
They sure are! Both are in a 75. About to move them into a 125.

Oh and you just reminded me how badly I want rams! Man I've got to find a place for some.
