There are 3 rules that you must follow when painting water scenes in watercolor. These may seem like minor details but they make a big difference in the believability of your painting.

the "more drying, more fading" was very helpful, even if it's something I've observed, hearing it said helps it catch in my memory
Thank you thank you, I need that
Thanks Matt! A month ago My paintings looked like a five year old did them, now, with your helpful videos, I’m getting better. Watercolor is hard and challenging, it’s why I like it. Keep up the good work!
I'm so glad to hear that Pete!
You make it so clear and easy to follow 😊
Thank you Ellen!
The part I enjoyed most about this is the explanation of perspective and how your eye is drawn into a painting. Thanks for sharing!
Matthew, I am so grateful for the instruction you offer. I am a new watercolorist and was working mostly by trial and error. Then I discovered your videos and the detail, the logic, the artistry and the encouragement you offer is exceptional. Thank you
So happy to hear that. Thank you!
Hi Matthew Another fabulous tutorial. I feel the “Penny has dropped” with this one and I will start implementing the perspectives from now on THANK YOU 😊
Thank you! So timely for me. Your tips convinced me to trash my in progress painting and start over before I wasted any more time on it.
Thank you so much for this! I understand now.
So glad to hear that!
This is all great information! Thank you so much. Wish I had known this a couple of months ago when I did a moose in a pond that my husband and I saw on a day hike in the Tetons. It turned out surprisingly well (one of my best so far), but it would have been easier and even better if I had known all this back then. It will come to good use in the future though! By the way, I appreciate the way you always do a brief summary of your main points at the end of each lesson-very good teaching technique.
Excellent tips. Thank you!

really nice video! I enjoy the way you break down your paintings in a helpful way, it's nice to see artists who don't mind at all sharing their process but even actively seek to share this knowledge. I believe it enhances the way of seeing the artworks and also the craft itself
I agree, nothing is held back!
great tips. do u ever paint water in the distance darker because it's deeper, than water.closest to u? read that somewhere.
