Hi! Can you do the same with gold filled wire?

Yes and no. Yes you can melt the end of a gold filled wire to form a ball. But, the ball will not appear to be gold. This is because the ball will be an alloy of the internal metal and the exterior metal. 🙂

Thanks so much for your videos ! I don’t manage to ball them both ends with a stone in the middle. Any idea how to pull that feat ?

Sorry, I don’t have a suggestion for pulling that off every time. Most stones will shatter due to heat shock. You could try using cross locking tweezers as heat sinks and submerging the stone under water. Good luck!🍀

@@OnlineJewelryAcademy thanks so much for your response John ! I didn’t think of the tweezers as heat sinks and will keep that in mind. Kind regards from Kingston, Jamaica.

Can you do the same thing with copper wire?

Yes, but you will have to tumble it to fully work-harden it. 😀

Can I ask why my gauge 14 copper wire won't ball though it did reached red orange point? I did many attempts with out any success

It’s probably because your torch isn’t hot enough. It could also be because you’re holding the wire too close to the end you’re heating with a heat sink. 😀

It takes practice. And that’s why I generally make more than one at a time. Thanks for watching! 😉
