    This was the start of an unbelievable run. Germany winners in 54, semifinalists in 58, Finalists in 66, 3rd place in 70, Champions in 74, finalists in 82 and 86. Winners in 90.

      Continue that with the 21st century: Finalists at 2002, 3rd place at 2006, 3rd place again at 2010 and Champions at 2014. Only in the last WC at Russia the streak was gone

    Germany were underdogs in this tournament they lost against Hungary 8-3 in the groupstages but they beat Hungary in the final with a great Remontada 💫 maybe it's the first Remontada in a big competition

      Germany lost 8-3 to Hungary in group stage because Sepp Herberger fielded an under-strength side made players out of position. Had they fielded a completely strengthed side, then I think they wouldn't have lost so badly. They could have drawn with the Hungarians in the group stage and a play-off against Turkey wouldn't have been even required to progress into quarter final.

    Este partido hungria lo pierde plr la ineficacia de sus delanteros y volantes al momento de definir, las innumerables ocasiones de gol que crearon Ahora todos los jugadores hungaros tenian una tecnica exquisita. Alemania eficacia, coraje y un par de jugadores con buena tecnica les alcanzo para ganar en buena ley este mundial.

      Todays footballs have maybe half the weight or less of an old leather ball, especially in rainy conditions. Also todays footballers start training and playing professional at a very young age - the German and some of the Hungarian guys here were just part-time footballer. So of course, the game has improved dramatically.

      @@MXknowsHow Uhhm, not exactly. German striker Alfred Pfaff who was watching the game from the bench said there was no offside and the goal should have counted. Alfred Pfaff was a very good player who led Eintracht Frankfurt to the European Cup final of 1960. He was also an honest man, one of the few German players who refused the methamphetamine injections.
      In addition, a German local TV station showed previously unseen footage in 2004, showing that the goal was not offside.

      @nikgr4749 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@N9SF The footage was shown on North German regional TV Channel in 2004. I have tried to find it myself in the web, without success.
      Also note that the 2nd german goal should have never been allowed. Schafer clearly pushes, obstructs and fouls goalkeeper Gyula Grosics during the corner kick, and this can be clearly seen from various angles at the official footage.
      Very few players refused the injections. I do not know their names, but Pfaff was certainly one of them. We also know that Helmut Rahn not only received the injections, but he was also the man who actually suggested using performance-enhancing drugs and gave Herberger the initial idea.

Yes, but In these time fouls like this were not considered, even in this match Kocsis was clearly fouled in the penalty box and no penalty were given. Not a replacement player - Liebrich, with Posipal the best German defender. Not the whole team died of liver illness - not even a handfull. No one died in the following year. There could be a use of such substances, but there is no proof and even if there was something, no substance was banned at that time so you couldn´t really call it doping. German won with a huge portion of luck, a world class keeper (at least sometimes) and with some good tactical ideas (marking of Hidegkuti).

    I believe the Hungarians should have won
    They wasted too many chances and the mentality of "It doesn't want to go in" grew with every missed chance and it climaxed when they scored and the referee saw it as offside
    The world of football would've looked a lot different now if Hungary the giants of that decade won
    But Germany wanted to win more than Hungary, even though Hungary was better almost every minute of that game, but the Germans were ready to kill themselves in order to not concede another goal
    I hope Hungary can come back to the top teams, as they enriched the world with legends such as Puskas, Hedigkuti, Kosic and their enlightened coach Gustav Sebes the father of the False Nine

    A lot of here say that Hungary was the best and there was some injustice during this game. But why If they were so good, why did they not win the next world cup and the next one? Maybe just bad losers. Germany played with their A-team and they, especially Fritz Walter were great men with values and morals. So to talk bad about them when you dont´t have any evidence is what bad losers do. Hungary if they were so good as you say, why don´t they have 4 or 5 world cup wins like Germany or Brazil? They didn't "win the next world cup and the next one" largely because of the Hungarian uprising in 1956 which left their star players exiled from the country and no longer representing the national team. Also it is unfair to say "why don't they have 4 or 5 world cup wins like Germany or Brazil" as they are a much smaller nation (population currently about 9.5 million) compared to those two so it is much less likely that they would keep producing golden generations of players like the big nations do.
