    The smiths really would never have been the same without rourkes basslines, the likes of barbarism begins at home and handsome devil can’t be beaten

      You are not wrong there. People don't notice how Johnny's guitar needs that bottom end blending in with his lines and weaving in and out of the riffs.

    Thanks for this. The one thing I have come across in researching this that you don’t mention here is that especially on songs from the first 2 albums he would be tuned up to F# to match Marr’s guitar. Of course the songs can still be played in standard but they are probably a little easier to play tuned up and the tone match would be more precise.

      With the gear today again I don’t think it matters too much. As long as your amp is eq’d right. My amp head is DI’d straight into the desk for gigs.

    Hi Justin I would like to know your opinion. First of all.... Excellent videos tutorial.
    I play usually my bass with set gauge string 105/45 in standard tuning. If I want tune my bass in Fsharp just like Rourke do you thing that I have to use a light set gauge strings ( for example 100/45) for avoiding pressure on bass' neck?Thanks for the tip

    • @justinatkinson1316
      @justinatkinson1316  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Santo! Like Rourke did I use medium gauge strings. Although he has complained of the strings being really tight I’ve never noticed it. My 80’s Fujigen P Bass spends most of its time in F# with no issues at all.

    Nice video. Is the bass stock? What model? I am a tone geek. I always seem to lock into tone. I thought your bass sounded very nice. Does the fretboard do anything to tone? Like maple vs. rosewood? I have always used maple fretboards. Thanks!
