I spent 2 hours today with the mod loaders/managers not understanding why nothing was working when it did a year ago when I played. Then stumbled on this. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
@Taka, you should have warned people about the golden rule of modding, when you use mods on a save, turning them off CAN break the game afterward. It's not guaranteed, but as a general rule, modding a save is a one way affair. As to why people would use a mod manager, In many cases people that mod their games mod MANY of their games and sometimes it's just nice to be able to handle all that administration in one place, without even having to fire up the game to interact with it. Anno doesn't seem to have a lot of mods, but for games that do, starting up the game, and then stopping to deal with your mods over and over can start to ass up to some real time spent staring at loading screens that isn't necessary. Cheers.
How you open that tab, when you choose what mods you want in load game, on 2:36 on video, i can't find that... when i try to click game loads my saved game...
So now that there will be no more updates for Anno 1800, that means the studio can go full force for a new game development. Another Anno game? If you ask me they covered every age from medieval to early 1900s. So my hope is going back through time to the birth of civilizations, when people got tired of living in caves and discovered river valleys. Would be cool to build up a thriving city from the stone age into a classic greek era, or roman empire one. They could also have different civilizations sort of. Like the location could be a a mediterranean sea like location, then there could be a greco-roman civilization, a mesopotamian and an egyptian. They could be separate people you could play, or play all of them, like in Anno 1404, the Orient or in 1800, the new world. And also instead of tiny islands everywhere, they could make large landmasses with lots of unusable land, and have caravans travel between the new locations (ships should still be a thing, but maybe later on). What do you think?
Yooo how tf is my anno still stuck on ubisoft connect swirling thing screen ( the tiny screen with steamship in it) removed 2 python, verify and repaired with cache deleted with restart of pc. This shit is driving me crazy can someone help me ?
I thought I used a lot of mods ... 😁 Yeah 17 did break some, including one I use that tied in with controls - keymapping, where adding some tab options just aren't available now. The bulk of the others seem to be ok. I guess that's my worst complaint about it, a far shout from what 16 did. I say we see where this new help lets the modding community go. Cheers.
Glad to see official mod support from anno. However does anyone here play the game on Nvidia's GeForce platform? Is there a way to use mods there? I'm not expecting a positive answer but figured it's worth a shot!
For all that still have Problems...i followed Takas Instructions but it doesnt Work. The Solution was to completely delete the "Mods"-File and create it new. After that Anno Recognizes my Mods without Problems
That tells me something was wrong with your mods folder because no one else has had to do that... So far every person I've helped on Discord that couldn't get mods working was because of something they did wrong. For most people, it has been as easy as doing exactly what I said.

video was ok but nothing to walk people through that have never installed mods ... great you helped people that had them installed already. Anyone got a link to a helpful video that walks you through the INITIAL install process of mods?
Pretty sure I mentioned it in the video that how you used to install mods from downloading them from Nexus or something is still the same... You just didn't need mod loader anymore. However, that's changed now since the last update because there is a mod browser built into the game now. You can access it from the main menu and automatically download and install mods from there without having to do anything, but click one button.

Great video! One question though, why are they stating that your account might be banned or suspended for using mods further down in the EULA/TOS while giving us integrated mod support? Seems a little confusing and ambiguous, is it "just" a safeguard against abusing the game/code? Should I be worried or can mods be used safely?

Welcome back Taka! Happy that we have now official modding support. Have you been playing actively Anno 1800?
Not really no... Just keeping up with what's going on and playing to test things and look at saves for people.
Thanks. Haven't played for a couple of months. Wondered why it wasn't working. Great video.

Hi. I had buy the basic Anno 1800 from steam. I did tried to make a folder but the mod option did not pop up in game. Have you encountered this issue?
