That’s the brilliance of King of the Hill. Hank is a conservative but even when he didn’t understand someone’s way of life, he never wanted to wish harm on anyone or actively want to change anybody. He above all showed respect to people.
"I'm going to kick your ass." - Hank Hill, man of the people.
Studying King of The Hill should have been mandatory in trying to make this project actually funny.
That's the thing about Hank Hill, he's a good man first and a conservative second. He may be right leaning but it doesn't define who he is.
Mike Judge knew exactly what he was doing when he created Hank Hill, unlike the "people" who worked on this ""show""

This is like someone watched All In The Family without realizing Archie Bunker was meant to be the butt of the joke who usually learns better by engaging with younger folks.
Similar to King Of The Hill.
It's like people who think Cartman's the hero.
I laughing because Americans think All in the Family is an original American sitcom. It is another American remake of a British sitcom like the Office, Sandford and Sons, Threes Company, Ghosts and Veep. The British creator wanted to write a show where the main character was racist and the biggest joke in the show. The original British character was called Alf Garnet
@@Delboy0 Feel better getting that off your chest? Americans know their favorite shows were inspired from or remade. Ricky Gervais went after Steve Carell during an award show, even held his award hostage. Dancing with the Stars and Behind the Mask or whatever that show is also comes from other countries and we know it. A station here in America (PBS) back in the 90s used to show British TV shows all the time, not just Monty Python, Keeping Up Appearances, and Mr. Bean either.
Also on a final note, Americans love TV/film trivia, so I'm pretty sure any fan of All in the Family knows about the British show Til Death Do Us Part.
Fun Fact: Norman Lear claimed that he meant for Archie and Mike to be the "butt of the joke" in equal measure as Mike stood for the kind of clueless young people who "had it all figured out" and Archie the older generation who valued supporting the current social order and conformity, often to their own detriment. You can see it in the earlier episodes, especially when Mike and the Jeffersons were in the same episode. Along the line, they seemed to "forget" to have Mike learn the lesson of the week.
I do believe Mike Judge tweeted something along the lines that Hank Hill has way too much integrity to vote for someone like Trump. There's the episode where he really didn't want to vote for George Bush cause of his limp hand shake.😂
Bill, Khan, and Cotton would be the only ones who would vote for him
Hank hill is the very definition of centerism!
Hank couldn't bring himself to vote for Biden either, so he'd toss his vote on some 3rd party candidate he believed in and be proud to lose.

An underrated King of the Hill episode that I don't hear anymore bring up is when Hank and Bobby teamed up against the PTA for the rights for the boys to crossdress as cheerleaders at a powder puff football game.

There's a way to make fun of the absurdity of something and this show does not know how to do it.
Take South Park when they're using black soldiers as human shields and Chef calls out to the general "Hey have you ever heard of something called the emancipation proclamation".
And the white general replies, "Sorry I don't listen to hip hop."
That is funny, that makes fun of the absurdity of a situation. Simply pointing out some queer person who acts sassy and saying look at that is not parody nor is it at all amusing. This show is lazy in the extreme.

Whats behind this cartoon is not humor. Its anger, bitterness and intolerance. One ingredient that any good storytelling and/or humor have in common is balance. Without balance a story or humor boils down to the word "agenda."

Overdosage of copium that led to a negative mindset.
It's a self parody. It's everything the Left has been saying about the Right and humor for decades.

One great piece of commentary I’ve heard on this is, it’s an example of why “anti-woke” comedy doesn’t really work. The point of a show like this isn’t to be funny. The point is to make the right-wing audience feel like liberals and progressive are getting triggered by the “jokes”. More often than not though the people they think are getting upset by this are just shrugging or cringing at how strange it is.
Exactly. The people who made this “thing” are the same people who got offended by Family Guy’s bad jokes. So now they’re trying to get their revenge…by making bad jokes.
Woke comedy works?

That's what this was supposed to be? Conservative humor? I couldn't tell who it was trying to make fun of.
It was produced by two conservatives, Dave Rubin (who plays the nb character) and Larry Elder (who plays the black best friend). It was a genuine attempt at conservative humor.
That explains it. I can't say much of Dave Rubin's "ability", but Larry Elder... already a red flag.
This feels like satire but without any thought put into it.
If you really want to “prove” what REAL comedy is, just be funny!! Don’t complain about all the shit you’re not allowed to say, just BE GENUINELY FUNNY!!!
Smiling Friends doesn’t have to complain about all the jokes it’s not allowed to do and it’s the funniest show ever right now!
Yeah, I'm over people complaining they can't say shit while not only having being given a platform but also making a ton of money saying shit they claim they can't say. It's quite bizarre when you consider that a lot of the comedians and performers they idolize never complained when they got heat for saying something, they said it and would deal with the backlash in a creative way, now if someone catches heat they just piss and moan that people are being mean to them.
I swear to god if I had my GWIMBLY GUN RIGHT NOW-
This is the most obvious ti-off of ALL IN THE FAMILY, from character design (the old white man looks like Carroll O’Connor as Archie Bunker) to set copying the sitcom set - co-opting Norman Lear’s show from the 70s.
It's an awful RIPoff of All in the Family.
It not good it terrible
Did they do a bad remake verision of All In the Family? It's the same set of All In the Family. The father looks like Archie Bunker.
Why is there a laugh track in a cartoon. No one used a laugh track. The problem with conservatives comedy is that they put their politics over writing a good story and compelling characters
Funny because that's exact same criticism they have for your guys. You both have more in common than you'd like to believe.
@@randomanton no, when progressives make a message they wrap some creativity around it. left-wing art will have an agenda but it's softened by the creative flair. Conservatives have no such flair so everything lands on the nose so hard it goes out the back of your skull. conservatives will never be able to fix this problem because creativity requires empathy (which is seen as evil by conservatives like Ben Shapiro and Ayn Rand).
@@randomanton The problem is that you assume they are rational thinkers or approaching media analysis from a reasonable position. The reality is that if a show like the boys portrays something they like as bad, they'll call it terrible writing regardless of anything else.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and my Pops is a comedy maniac, so we read National Lampoon magazines, listened to Lenny Bruce records, watched All in the Family, Kentucky Fried Movie etc, and I was exposed to so much edgy humor that nothing shocks or triggers me anymore, with one exception. The tired, old recycled bits that folks are trying to pass off as "comedy", then whining that people are too "woke" if the audience doesn't laugh. Nah, it's just not funny, and I resent the implication that I'm some sort of wilting violet/snowflake because I'm not laughing. Archie Bunker was a crabby old coot and curmedgeon, but he ended up being more tolerant than the majority of conservatives today. Anyone remember the Transgender character, Beverley LaSalle, Edith's friend? She debuted on the show in 1975, and Archie treated her like a lady and even let her sit on his beloved LazEboy recliner when she visited. Sure, they sang about when "goils were goils and men were men", but in their hearts, they cared about people and recognized humanity. If anyone is killing comedy, it's Elon and his "sh*t post memes". "The New Norm" is a straight up tragedy with that laugh track.
The worst sin about this and Good Times isn't that they're offensive. It's that they are not funny. At all.
Anti-woke types: All these woke shows and movies are terrible. They are not good, and I'm tired of all this propaganda and politicizing. That is why more shows and movies are against all of that.

I’ve seen G rated movies with edgier adult jokes than this.
Yeah and most of the people who worked on this would and probably have at some point whined about bobs being woke, because of the healthy relationship family dinamucs and the fact that the show features queer people and poc in a way that's not demeaning, or degrading and hateful.

Lady Ballers was hilarious. Mr. Birchum was mediocre. This is just awful.
Archie Bunker always struck me as the man that knew what he was supposed to say and believe like a script. Many people think they have to adhere to a belief. How he reacted to the world changing around him was fascinating. Archie is a beautifully written character and well acted. All in the Family is a good show if people can get through the dated humor and writing.
I think more liberals understand writing better. And comedy. Liberals understand what it's like to be treated unfairly and tell stories and jokes to poke fun at things that don't make sense or hold people back. Liberals understand how to 'yes, and'. Conservatives' politics seem to be focused on telling others to be silent, invisible and ashamed. Conservatives do not understand how to 'yes, and.'
Somewhat agree. I wouldn't say "liberals" are necessarily better at comedy. I think people who have been through hardships and are marginalized tend to be better at comedy. Some of those people can be conservative, but the conservative ecosphere generally does not welcome many of the groups that tend to contribute to art in general (ethnic minorities, queer people, women, immigrants). Then they wonder why there's a bias against them in the media... Maybe because most of the people who go into entertainment are people they demonize...
Everything in _The New Norm_ is everything you've heard from a right-wing jokester before. You've heard the jokes about rainbow-colored beer before. You've heard the "libs getting triggered by [thing]" jokes before. You've heard the non-binary/trans person joke before. You've heard the "Disney's coming for your kids" joke before. And you've even heard the "oh, golly gee, isn't Elon Musk the swellest guy in the world" joke before. Simply put, THERE ARE NO NEW JOKES IN THIS _NEW NORM_ SHOW. And the jokes that are in the show aren't even good enough to merit the laugh track we hear over them.

Lmao😂 Elon DOESN'T GET that MOST PEOPLE on "Twitter" CAN'T STAND HIM 😂🤦🏾♂️🤣. Duse is so outta touch, and it's hilarious.
I'm sure he knows. The internet doesn't really make it any secret. It's pretty loud and vocal.
Rage-Bait Animated Series' are the moment.
4:01 I love that Korey's jokes making fun of The New Norm are 100% funnier than the show.
I love that most of the comments on this video are better written and more thought out then the plot of the actual show.
Nothing is better than the brilliance of The Boondocks
Gonna say this: people not being offended by Mr. Birchum just breeds more stuff like this. Mr. Birchum dug the pit in unauthorized territory, no one told him to stop, so now New Norm is digging that same pit deeper.
Also, ironic how these "anti-woke" shows both gave the MC a black friend, because having a black protagonist, even a side one, is "woke" to people.
Hank hill wouldn't vote for Trump
It doesn't matter the politics, being preachy and self-righteous is not funny or attractive.
Everyday we become more and more aware of what executives at Paypal had to deal with before forcing Elon to step down as CEO.
But thats the thing Conservatives missed about shows like All in the Family, and there have been conservative sitcoms or Conservative charaters like Ted Baxter from Mary Tyler Moore .they were created to make you think . Conservative Comedy doesn't have balls to truly Satirize itself , cause they literally don't GET it.
If conservative comedy satirized itself, would you still call it conservative comedy?
I guess Elon was sick of losing money destroying twitter and decided to change it up losing money to destroy animation/comedy
wtf… it’s 3 mins lol and they can’t make 3 mins funny
So it’s like if they made an animated show on pierce hawkthorne from community?
South Park became the most controversial and most brilliant series in making their own statements of some stuff we don’t like: politics and bad generation incidents including today’s Hollywood issues. That is still a great series. That cartoon is the worst thing that a new creator did. What a waste of talent. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦
the funny thing is that Elon actually didnt have anything to do with this, and including him at the end was just so they could meat ride a loser they thought would share their awful cartoon.
Before "All In The Family" really took off, it was entitled "And Justice For All". Archie was named Wally Justice. And the characters of Mike and Gloria went through a lot of changes, one of them being Gloria being played by Penny Marshall, who was actually married to Rob Reiner back then.
Remember 5 years ago we thought Musk was the next Einstein. We are so wrong now!
He is the new Edison though! Complete with using Nikola Tesla's achievements to self-promote
Looks like one of those crappy internet cartoons from the early 2000s.
Thats archie bunkers living room.
Man when you hear that Tuba start playing you know Uncle Ruckus is gonna start spitting the most foul shit imaginable
