There's definitely some promising experiences on the horizon. Having been to Defqon and Qlimax, I've seen some awesome laser shows and stage designs over the years as the technology and talent involved has improved. I've also seen an incredible world designed in VR that really has me guessing where the future of experiences like this will end up. Serendipitous that this only popped up in my feed because I was watching a video on Prydz's Call on Me track, hah.
Argh, it pains me to see current festival crowds so addicted to recording and ruining the moment for those around them. If you're reading this, please do your part and keep your phone in your pocket as much as possible during live shows. If you're feeling anxious, try not to automatically reach for your phone - instead, just dance it off. You'll not only help yourself to feel better but you'll also add to the overall vibe of the event. ;)
@@kingryanidas17 It affects my life in two ways: 1. I love live music. I've been going to gigs for almost 20 years now. There have been numerous occasions when someone's phone blocked my view of the performance. It interrupts my experience and makes it much harder to "drop in" to it. 2. I want to see all humans thriving in peace and happiness and I find it painful to see an entire generation addicted to smartphones. It doesn't matter if it's alcohol or an electronic device - addiction is addiction and it causes suffering. The fact that I'm spending my time and energy commenting on TH-cam videos in an attempt to help people supports this.
I'm born in 1977 and I'll bet a billion dollars that if people had smartphones in the days of the Beatles, Kraftwerk or Spice Girls, they WILL RECORD THE SAME AS EVERYBODY TODAY. And the fact that this type of technology that everyone has in their pocket, it kills the feeling of art - this is another matter and it is a natural consequence and a slow prophetic entry into sci-fi life.
And this is how they will defeat us in the end. Everything begins as a novelty, to see if we’re paying attention or not. So many, it appears, are unable to stay in the moment. Kind of a missed opportunity to make the dj booth be in the heli though. Edit: I did'nt know this was something he performs multiple times. So the visuals are just not always able to be alligned with the stage.
There were plenty of black pockets that could've happened. If anything, have just him in the heli without the dj booth and then have a descending platform say maybe 4-5 ft in the air that goes into the booth on a sliding mechanism. Have the heli blip out and have Eric descend in the booth. That would've been so much better though. It feels rushed. He's in the door jam of all things lol
