I want todo this now, but I’ve just started contstructing ‘book nooks’ and I’m hooked and I know I need to improve greatly before I attempt this dream …
Yesss you can definitely bookmark this for now and revisit when you're more confident on taking up our Ginzan Onsen DIY Book Nook kit. It's super intricate and detailed as it depicts the traditional Japanese architecture but we can promise you that it's very fulfilling and satisfying upon completion! :)

Hi Ryan, there isn't a need to lubricate at all, but proper filing on the wood pieces may be required to allow a smoother movement in our motion scene functions.
Numbers aren't shown, simlar-looking pieces are numbered the same, some steps aren't included (like the construction of the train wheels)... I could go on and on with what's wrong with this set. I'm disappointed to say the least.
@@kat.k4666 Yeah, also loosely fitting pegs is also one of my main grievances with this set. I enjoyed building sets by ROKR and Rolife a lot more than this one, and it has become a real slog.
Hi! We're so sorry about the print error, if it's convenient, would you mind heading to our page and download the revised digital instruction booklet - byanavrin.com/pages/instructions.
I had the same problem and was ready to get a replacement piece from an electronic store. But using quite some strength I managed to plug them together. You really should connect them outside the box, because it's quite difficult from underneath.
I tried that too and it doesn't work. Finally I wrapped the rubber band around the spindle as shown and then placed a small, clear rubber band meant for pony tails around the first rubber band to hold it in place.
Yes it looks absolutely amazing, but the quality of the set is abysmal. There are pieces missing, images misprinted holes missing due to miscuts. I can't get over the fact that this set is so very expensive and yet so poorly produced. And they keep refering me to their replacement service - an online form that is impossible to fill out because it consists of about a zillion required text fields with no description whatsoever. I feel betrayed and wasted my money on this. Sorry for speaking out the truth.
Hi, we're so sorry to hear about this. The required text fields for the replacement parts are essential so our team can make sure we fulfilled what you will need to complete the entire kit just so we don't make any mistakes. We have revamped instructions on our page at - byanavrin.com/pages/instructions. Please know that we're here to help if you have any issues with the building process, we really hope you will be able to finish the kit.
Nice set but the instruction book is horrible I’ve already had trouble on step 2 because of it Plus the scenery on the big paper came all crumbled up and once I had asked for a new paper i was sent a file to print it out myself My printer is not even working It would’ve been nice if the paper and box were more carefully packed Especially at that price
This video is helpful, but at the same time laughable because of the apparent ease of assembling the parts. No doubt due to the stop motion filming technique. I am currently assembling this in the PNW so perhaps in a xeric environment like Arizona the parts would slide together as shown in the video. However, here the fit is very tight. So here are some of my assembly notes to date: 1. Step #3: watch out for part #27. There are actually 2 shapes with this number and the difference is subtle. Make sure you have the correct shape in the correct slot before you press them home. It's a tight fit and if you get it wrong it's difficult to remove them. 2. Step #17: Attaching the rubber band to part #37. The slot where the rubber band is attached is very tiny and fragile. Be sure to stretch out the rubber band until it is thin to get it in the slot. I broke this part and am waiting for a replacement. 3. Steps # 23 and 24: The wired connections to the motor are very hinky. I was being very careful with the motor but nonetheless one of wired connections broke off. There was only one strand of the wire soldered to the motor. I am waiting on a replacement for the motor. 4. Steps #50 - 54: Knowing what I know now I would have attached part #s 149 and 48 as shown in steps #57 -59 to the crankshaft before doing the assembly shown in steps #50 -54. Also, the 2 shapes that comprise part # 149 need extensive sanding with an emery board to reduce their size before part #48 will fit over them. And there's SIX of them! 5. Step #35 on page 11: There are 2 different parts labeled #81. The tan colored bar is actually part #10. 6. The part replacement request on the website: It has 3 areas to upload photos to. 2 are for missing parts and 1 is for replacement parts. I was only requesting (so far) replacement parts but it wouldn't allow me to submit the request until I uploaded photos to the missing part sections. Finally I wrote on a piece of paper that I had no missing parts, took a photo of that and uploaded it. Success! To be continued...
Yes there are a huge amount of mistakes, omissions or inaccuracies in the manual, even the digital one. It really is recommended to watch the assembly videos, which are quite good. Also there is at least one part that is (generally) missing from the set, although of minor importance (part 221). The paper roll is often damaged or crumbled because of the bad packaging, but there is a digital download for that; if you have acess to a printer. A model in that price range should be presented with better care. But in spite of all this, I enjoyed the build, since most problems were solvable with a little imagination and skill plus the detailed model is really beautiful (as long as you don't turn on the noisy motor).
@@7768Tom This is the first model I ever built. Yes, I agree, it is easy to solve the problems engendered by the mistakes in the manual. Once I was cognizant of the manual's shortcomings I could anticipate potential problems. I discovered it was very important to review future steps to determine if the assembly sequence could be improved upon. I was unaware of the video when I started and later found it to be somewhat helpful. Nonetheless, like you, I have had a great deal of fun putting this puzzle together and am disappointed there doesn't seem to be another of its complexity.

Thank you very much relaxing🎶✨🎶❤️
Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words, we really appreciate it! :)
Is there a need to lubricate for smooth movement? And where. I'm thinking of using oil but wouldnt that just soak into the wood?
Hi Ryan, there isn't a need to lubricate at all, but proper filing on the wood pieces may be required to allow a smoother movement in our motion scene functions.
This is helpful since the booklet that comes with the Book Nook has errors where the numbers of the parts you need aren't shown.

accidentally detached the black wire from the motor is there any way to fix that?
I'm having difficulty attaching the rubber band to the wood. I tried the superglue gel. Any suggestions?
Hi Karen, thanks for reaching out to us on this, would it be possible for you to try another type of superglue? Are you using the Gorilla Super Glue?
Alternatively, you could use a strong double-sided tape. Please let us know if either works, our team is always here to help!
