    I have another one of the Gold Cox Fairchilds that I inherited from my late Grandfather. Doing my best to learn banjo and bring life back to the beautiful instrument.

    That wood is called “flamed” ,”quilted”, “fiddle back” or like I like to call it “tiger stripe” maple!

    Love the story of how you acquired it! Raymond is one of my favorites. That’s a nice banjo!👍

    My uncle made that ❤❤❤ he was my favorite relative.. he was one of 12 children my father was number 10 and my father passed away in 2019 and my uncle passed away one year later so he was the longest living child of my grandparents... My grandfather's mother so my uncle's grandmother was Cherokee my grandmother's mother was also half Cherokee

      @@thebaptistbanjo7905 I apologize I have a fake name......jimmy ... He was eight of 12 my dad was 10 they lasted longer than any of them and died within a year... His name was James Harold Cox and I always knew him as Uncle Harold lol .. dad got the first Kentucky 5 banjo with the mother-of-pearl it was beautiful and I was supposed to inherit but you know how that goes

      @@thebaptistbanjo7905 I have the all the CDs the Cox Fairchild all of that.. he used to say I was the prettiest girl in Kentucky I mean I know that was not true but I love him so much

      @@thebaptistbanjo7905 hey I've had my uncle's book for several years but my memo my grandmother she raised me until I was three and a half so that was my first home as well and wow I have not been able to get past like five pages without bah my eyes out for years and there is a photograph in there that I took and I was just was floored is the picture of my grandmother with her five sons and my dad is right behind her but I took that picture with like a tiny little Kodak camera on 110 film and it was color and it but he didn't give me credit I would have liked to have had photo I have a copy of it and I don't know how to share with you
