This works great for “checked out/checked in” inventory, but what about items that don’t ever get returned? I’m using Sortly for maintenance parts that get installed on machines. They get used once and are gone. Is moving to another folder the only option?
Hey Spencer, thanks for the comment. In this case, you have a few options. You can reduce the quantity of the item and add a note (such as whether the item was consumed or sold). The note could say (used for Truck 11, Order 123, Provided to the client at 123 Main Street, etc.). Doing this would make it so you no longer need to move the item to the folder where it would sit forever, but would offer a way to track inventory used at a specific location. Another option would be to make an archived folder and push any of the parts you use to that folder once they have been used.
While we do have date-based fields, we do not have a rental function in the system. For example, you could mark a date that the item is scheduled to be checked out on, but it would not restrict other users from checking it out at this time. I have submitted this as a feature request in our system.
Implementing a rental feature would be incredible. The objective is for me to receive requests for equipment for a future date, submit those requests in Sortly, and have Sortly tell me whether or not the requested equipment is available on that date. This way I don't have to use my Sortly AND my calendar. Thanks for replying @@Sortlyapp
You can add a custom field to indicate the return date. The system will also track all of the activity history for the item or folder including a date and time stamp. You can view the activity history here: app.sortly.com/activity-history

Have you found another software that works better for this? I’m currently having the same issue…
how do you check out equipment for a FUTURE date? How do you see FUTURE availability of a piece of equipment?

@@Sortlyappany progress on this function?
Why doesn't it give me an option for a return date ?

Do you have version en Spanish?
Currently, the software is only in English, however, you can add item details in Spanish as well as build out custom fields in Spanish.
