Yes, our defense sucked but I am so sick and tired of people not talking about the history that Josh did that night I understand no moral victories but I think all of us bills fans should be pretty damn proud of the way he played!!!
The defense has been sub par as far as the basics go in EVERY game. Teams march up and down the field on them at will. Three and outs are pretty much not happening. Consistent pressure on the QB is not happening. Von Miller looks like he thinks his job is to lock up with a lineman and wait for the next play. What has saved the defense week in and week out are big plays. Takeaways and sacks. But you can't RELY on opportunistic defense. Big plays on defense should be a bonus, they are too few and far between to be the game plan. Bottom line is this is not a Super Bowl defense. Really not a playoff defense. So it all boils down to can Josh's putting on the cape be enough to make up for that?
Once he gets more strength and conditioning he could improve. But this is yet another Bills defensive star that has had multiple seasons with IR appearances in a row.
I agree but we as fans, shouldn’t have the expectation that he’s going to be his normal self immediately…heck, not even the rest of the season. Just look back at Tre White and Von Miller when they came back from their injuries mid-season. They weren’t right or impactful until the following season. I know their injuries were major, season-ending but Matt has dealt with injuries a lot the past couple seasons and hasn’t had the time to fully heal and rehab 1 of the injuries before having to deal with another. Hopefully a total offseason of healing and treatments helps him be the player we know him to be.
I don't see anyone talking about excepting the penalty on the 4th and 7 that made it third and 15, this let the rams run an extra play that burned time off the clock
Or, even after accepting the penalty, playing a defense so far back, the receivers weren't covered, and they made it 4th and 5 instead of 4th and long. That was the exact same mistake mistake McDermott made in the 13 second game when he played to protect a touchdown instead of a field goal and didn't even cover Kelce.
They did adjust. Go watch the all 22, they absolutely did adjust. Delayed blitzes, man coverage, and what did it result in? Penalties in man and getting burnt by two receivers who simply played fantastic ball on the day
So, what's the one thing the Bills must fix? Don't let Sean McDermott make stupid late-game decisions, or resist the temptation to revert to "Josh Allen as Superman"? Yes, he CAN do it, and has done it, but I think Whit's right. If the Bills don't learn to play complementary football and improve their defense, they're never going to get to a Super Bowl. And that's on the coaches.
I understand the scenario that everyone's talking about with the timeouts but we weren't stopping them all day why would McDermott have had any confidence in his defense being able to get a 3 and out at that point in the game?
Difference was coaching.. people say about Bills defense??! No preparation for this game was so over matched. Rousseau still can’t figure out how to chase WRs running on his side??? That little details they were not ready to stop or prepared.
DISAGREE with Whitworth's 20/20 hindsight claim that "FIRST, I think you gotta try to throw it." NO. 1) When you throw the ball (especially in a tight piece of real estate that is only a 10 yard end zone, with TOO MANY people inside the end zone), three possible things can happen complete, incomplete, and interception), and two of them are BAD. 2) If big moose Josh Allen has had success getting a key yard or two -- and he has all day -- then the QB sneak into the end zone is the safest, best, most effective play with minimal risk ... and as soon as he breaks the plane of the goal line/scores, the clock stops. 3) Under those circumstances, even a quick throw into the end zone will NOT take "less" time off the clock than a QB sneak would on FIRST DOWN where/IF the clock is stopped prior to the snap within the last two minutes for a 1st and goal from the 1-yard line (because the clock won't start again until the ball is snapped). BUT where I DO agree with Whitworth and others is that, PRIOR to the 1st down snap, you call TWO plays in the huddle and tell the team to unpile quickly and get set ASAP to run the 2nd down play QUICKLY in the event Josh fails to score the TD on 1st down. That second play can be one of two broad strategic options: A] Run the QB sneak all over again, back-to-back ... and if Josh scores, great, and the Bills have all 3 time outs to use still on defense to get the ball back with enough time to gain enough yards to attempt a game-winning field goal at the end; but if instead Josh still fails to score o the second QB sneak on 2nd down, everybody lines up quickly again and gets set, and Josh spikes the ball on 3rd down to preserve the time out. On 4th down, the Bills kick the chip shot FG -- still having preserved all 3 time outs -- because, either way, the Bills were going to need 2 scores to win (TD & extra point, plus a FG) and it doesn't matter in what order they scored. OR stgrategy Option B: B] The play on 2nd down is a quick pass INTO THE END ZONE. If caught for a TD, the clock stops and the Billshave all 3 time outs preserved. If the ball is incomplete, the clock stops without the Bills burning another time out. On third down, the Bills need a quick throw into the end zone again -- if caught, it's a TD with no time out spent; if incomplete, the clock stops again with no time out wasted. On 4th down, without having used any time outs, the Bills still kick the FG. Obviously aninterception kills the comeback victory. With either strategy option, the defense MUST STOP LA and preserve time on the game clock by using all 3 time outs. When the Bills reacquire the football with some time remaining on the game clock (but no time outs), they then work to get the final score that they didn't get earlier.
Milano should not be on the field 70% of the game maybe 10% until NE and the jets Williams should be on the field 90% of the snaps wtf are they thinking
I thought it was smart they didn’t try to keep running the ball what the hell would that have changed except eat clock buffalo needed to score fast because the rams plan was to keep Josh on the sidelines
When is it going to be time to start blaming Beane? Beanes dismal drafts, his silence in mostly every free agency , besides Cooper, Von, Diggs every year he don't do shit. If any other GM had Allen they would surround him with enough support where he literally don't have to do everything himself, till Beane is gone we not winning no championships, and McDermott when it comes to big games he clueless, Beane and McDermott have to go asap
Dude that's not true. He's been using his run game pretty much every game. He barely had any significant passing yards or rushing in any particular game until this game against the Rams. He's been used alot less this year. Only against KC at the end and the Rams game is where he went superman.
As a Bills fan.. the only thing that needs mending this year is the expectations of these fair weather fans
Stop everyone we have fan of the decade here let's listen to everything he said like it's the gospel
@donnyfoster1859 you seem triggered? You must be who im speaking to,, welcome to the Mafia
BILLS FIX THAT DEFENSE ASAP. NEED THAT PASS RUSH.
It’s week 15 nothing is going to help
This is where getting rid of Beane comes into play
@ haha no
Another McDermott stupid decision… can we remember the 13 second game for affirmation of this?
Yes, our defense sucked but I am so sick and tired of people not talking about the history that Josh did that night I understand no moral victories but I think all of us bills fans should be pretty damn proud of the way he played!!!
LMAO, it's NOT "the way he played" it's the way he was USED. You're misunderstanding how the game was coached, very novice.
Ya but why does he have to put the cape on week after week, Beane sucks and he don't give him enough support
He still made history and nobody’s talking about that!!
@@colleenandres3800 That's absolutely NOT true, NOT here in WNY.
@d.a.n.3086 I'm in Phoenix, and people here are talking about it!
Taking the penalty was an opportunity for a big play, which is what they needed.

Yeah you’re right about Von Miller….He tries some hook move , then a ring around the Rosie ….I don’t know what he’s doing
Fitz - thanks for the Milano comment. Spot on. His return really looks like a shell of his former self.
Once he gets more strength and conditioning he could improve. But this is yet another Bills defensive star that has had multiple seasons with IR appearances in a row.
Takes a bit to get back. I will be concerned if he doesn’t show up over the next few games
I agree but we as fans, shouldn’t have the expectation that he’s going to be his normal self immediately…heck, not even the rest of the season. Yup another Von miller situation
@@donnyfoster1859 disagree, 58 wants it bad

Defense. When zone is giving them every yard they want, ADJUST.
They did adjust. Go watch the all 22, they absolutely did adjust. Delayed blitzes, man coverage, and what did it result in? Penalties in man and getting burnt by two receivers who simply played fantastic ball on the day
Rams Defense gave up more points than the Bills.
but what about what Timmy did Mommy.....

The defensive line was terrible is that On Beane or McDermott ….they got pushed around big time
We not winning no championships till Beane and McDermott are gone, Beane fails Allen year after year by getting him no support
Fix coaching. McDermot is the problem. Has been and always has been. Josh will never win a SB as long as McDermot is coaching.
Bills are too small on the d line for the 6th year in a row. Teams still run it right through us no problem. Once thats established its over
5 wide shotgun possible allen run was the only option. Horrible decision
9:08 who cares about running when you scored 42 points ??
I understand the scenario that everyone's talking about with the timeouts but we weren't stopping them all day why would McDermott have had any confidence in his defense being able to get a 3 and out at that point in the game?

No Home Field for Billy Bear this year - also no Superbowl once again. On the bright side they are getting a new stadium which might change the mojo.
