Complimenti!! bravissimi!! Grazie al coro di Westminster per la bellissima musica e spiritualità. Perfettamente intonati, delicati ma intensi, e con le voci fuse fra loro.
@Lucas Borrello, it's quite clear you don't understand anything about music and choir technique. Westiminster Abbey Choir did its job in a gorgeous way, as usual and even they made improve the incredible low level of the Sistine Chapel, when they sang together. Beato il popolo scelto dal Signore is not sung by the Sistine Chapel, because it was in Milan. You should better inquire next time when you want to make comparisons. Westminster Abbey Choir was simply amazing.
@Lucas Borrello Please do not say wrong things if you don't know: the boy who sang in Milan is NOT a member of the Sistine Chapel. I'm not lying because I know the choir in Milan, that boy is not at all a soloist of the Sistine Choir, to tell the truth there is a soloist boy who sang the Psalm in the ceremony on 29th June and it was pretty a tragedy.
@Lucas Borrello We are not taking about harmony, or low tones or whatever... the first thing for a choir is intonation, which is like the abc for everyone who would like to be part in a choir. Sistine Chapel is 95% of times out of tune, instead Westminster are always tuned. I'm not talking about philosophy or theories on beauty, I'm talking about objectivity and being professional. The English choral tradition is very well known thanks to the serious approach of the choir's members...
This is not Westminster Abbey.....which also has a lovely choir but Westminster Cathedral whence this lovely deeply spiritual rendering of Byrd's lovely motet comes. Peterkin
This is the choir of Westminster Abbey, singing at the Feast of St Peter & St Paul in St Peter's Basilica in Rome at the invitation of Pope Benedict XVI.
Nice try by the Pope to get English Protestants to start taking orders from some foreigner in Rome - i.e. him. All it did was show the superiority of the Protestant choir of Westminster Abbey and the tolerance of Anglicans. The director of music for the Westminster Abbey Choir is an English Roman Catholic. Why was he appointed? Because he was considered the best man for the job. Simple - and as fair - as that . How likely is it that the same attitude would be shown to any future director of the Sistine Chapel Choir? A Protestant director of the Sistine Chapel Choir? Even if he was the best in the world by a long way? Pffft, no chance.
+Pl Ne great way to skew a motion toward better ecumenical relations. I guess we can't all have such superior tolerance.

The Catholic Church does not consider itself superior to anyone, respects and seeks relations of friendship and cordiality with other Christian churches as the Gospel commands Christians to try to seek unity in the midst of diversity, on the grounds that both Catholics and Anglicans have made mistakes , But above all are Christians, brothers in Christ, Jesus who is the Lord of the Catholic Church and the Anglican Church
Nice try but I was referring to Anglican singers in general, not the choir of WA specifically. Whilst the Cappella Musicale Pontificia ‘Sistina’ gets unjustly harsh criticism, I think I'll stick with the choirs of the sinners thanks. Nice to know that such a unique and special occasion with great music is appreciated only by people with open hearts and open minds.
@Lucas Borrello Seriousness is what is missing in the Sistine Choir. Out of tune, not professional, and last but not last, an operatic way to sing everything, no matter if it's gregorian chant, or Renaissance or contemporary music. They lack of good taste and the main fault is of who teaches to them.

....and they are the finest singers in the world of sacred music. Life sucks doesn't it.
beautiful song

Mi piacerebbe sentire lo stesso cantato dalla Cappella Sistina.
This is not the abbey. There's a nun receiving communion from the pope for crying out loud.
It is not the abbey, it is the abbey choir singing in Rome, as part of the friendly relations between Catholic Christians and Anglican Christians

Sistine Chapel had incredibly bad reviews also when they sang in London. It's not because of the press, it's because of them.
