Enjoyed your Beatles tag video and your favourite items especially the John Lennon cube vinyl spectacular , keep up the good work here’s to a great 2025
Nice vid Tone and a very happy new year to you and your family. I loved your choices, especially your fave Beatles album cover Rubber Soul, which also happens to be mine. So Mod and so Britpop, before Britpop was even born. I have done my version of this tag in the comments on Beatle Dave's video on this vinyl tag. (Sorry mate I listed two white album tracks as my least favourite Beatles song, but I kind of agree with your take on Yellow Sub, it never occurred to me that it could've been a standalone single, and good call with Rain replacing it on revolver) I may make a playlist of Revolver replacing Yellow Sub with Rain just to see what that sounds like. Any way thanks for this vid Tone I hope it was as much fun to make as it has been for me to watch.
This is the fun way to start off the new year!!! I did enjoy hearing you tell about how you got in to the Rutles LOL !!! No mo the Beatles :). I do like all you did say but the John L Disc so cool your Wife got that for you wow ell done!!! Yes great too see the Paul book!!! Yes so cool that you got Paul to sine your CD mate :). Well done in this video you did!!! I hope you are right about all the stuff for this new year!!!! Good fun cheers mate!!!
Fun video! Beatles USA Picture Sleeves are my favorite collectible of The Beatles. I don't have many, but my favorite one is the Hello Goodbye/I Am the Walrus sleeve.
Absolute agreement about Gabriel’s version of Strawberry Fields 👏 Big PG fan anyway. Your Yellow Sub loving Martian idea made me guffaw! 😂 Your video about meeting Paul was great & has given me an idea for a future vid in fact, not that I’ve ever met him!
Hi Tone, really enjoyed this video, especially your Martian version of yellow submarine. I’d totally forgotten that I had the ‘all this & World War II’ album until you mentioned it, but maybe as you said some of it is best forgotten. All the Best. Tony
Great video ....I will have to look for the Peter Gabriel version of SFF on the internet...that Revolver picture disc is awesome! Beatles Second Album is my fave Beatlemania era album...Lennons vocal I on You've Really Got A Hold On Me is amazing. Another great video!!!
Beatley Tone good picks for your Beatles Tag 2025 ! Happy Xmas my favorite too album cover is Abbey Road! All picks are correct How we feel at the time! Great show Beatley Tone looking forward to Ringo's country album Look up Friday! Happy New Year Beatley Tone looking forward to 2025!
Might we consider Day Tripper as a holiday song, in the British sense? I know it was just a one-way ticket, yeah, and she only took us half the way there, but this is more than most of us Brits were brought up to expect.
Hi Tone, just a quick catch up. I enjoyed your Macca deep tracks, and I agree with Mumbo. For me it is the best track on Wildlife. I got the US 64 box with my Amazon vouchers. I know it's cheaper to get them individually, but the box looks so nice on the shelf. I haven't listened to the Beatles Story yet but I will. Nice quality vinyl too. Regarding Anthology I wouldn't be surprised if it is the main release this year, with Rubber Soul delayed to 2026, hope I'm wrong on that, but the left field releases we have had in the last two years makes me think this could be the case. Hope you are well, talk again soon
Hi Andrew, Well you could be right about rubber Soul although it does seem a bit nailed on with it being the 60th anniversary this year. As usual they will keep us guessing. Sounds like you are enjoying the US albums . Happy new year my friend
Another great watch, as said by many , your enthusiasm is contagious. Agree with Yellow Submarine, am I correct in saying that is the only track which is on two seperate albums, apart from compilations? Pleased you didn't mention ObladiOblada in list of worst songs like many do. Reason I like it is as a young lad in short trousers, I loved Marmalades version and this was my introduction to The Beatles. Anyway, pleasure watching, look forward to next video.
@@stevelowerson6347 Ah, Marmalade with, if memory serves (and it quite possibly won't at my age!) Junior Campbell on lead vocals😁. Yes, it WAS a good version.
Thanks very much Steve, glad you enjoyed the video. Glad the enthusiasm is coming across. Yes YS is on Revolver and the Yellow Submarine album so you are right. I can also remember Marmalades version of Ob la Di before I'd even heard the Beatles version. I just think it's one of those harmless songs that is a lot of fun - no big musical statement just fun.
While I do love Yellow Submarine I would agree Rain would make a better choice for Revolver but that would leave Ringo without a vocal performance……I will have to go back and watch or rewatch your Macca meeting video. Let’s hope for a revamped Anthology and Rubber Soul box as well as an Archive London Town/Back to the Egg for 2025. Great video Tone…Happy 2025 and thank you!
It always bugged me a little how John’s “Happy Christmas (War Is Over)” always showed up on his compilations while Paul’s “Wonderful Christmastime” didn’t, just on bonus discs or as bonus tracks… not really fair.
Hey Tone, Happy New Year, hope you're keeping well. Interesting responses to The Beatles tag. I wondered if my tag video response partly prompted your reaction to the '3 worst Beatles songs' question as you named all 3 of my choices..lol. I took the question to mean officially released tracks and those 3 (Dig It, Wild Honey Pie & Why Don't We Do It In The Road) WERE officially listed as part of their respective LP's regardless of track length. I kind of agree on Hold Me Tight while Run For Your Life is 'problematic' these days. Can't agree on Yellow Submarine though your suggestion regarding including Rain on Revolver instead of YS was a good one. I hope Rubber Soul is the next one in the remix series. Not so sure about the Anthology though...do we really need a remaster? Anyway cheers mate. Take care. 👍😊
Hi Peter, Happy new year mate and hope you’re enjoying some decent weather down under. No i havent managed to catch yours yet , but will do later butvi hadnt seen it in my feed for some reason. Ahh people can choose whichever songs they choose- i was just having a little joke - everyone has choice and all that. As for Anthology, i always say there is no real collective’we’ some people will welcome it, others not so much. All the best mate
@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel hi interesting you say that my video didn't come up on your feed. Thanks for the heads up. I'm noticing a lack of response from people on my videos lately. Wonder what the issue is? A settings problem perhaps? I'll have to look into it further. Cheers mate.
I actually like or love Hold Me Tight, Run For Your Life and Yellow Submarine. The tunes I seldom or ever listen to are Across the Universe, Inner Light and Savoy Truffle.
Another fab video Tone. I quite like the song Yellow Submarine (lovely guitar chords) but I agree that it would have been better left off the Revolver LP and replaced with Rain. My 3 least favourite songs (and you are dead right, you can't pick anything off the flawed masterpiece that is the White Album) are Run for Your Life, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You and You Like Me Too Much as all three have poor/clunky/contrived lyrics - although the music is still good. Cheers!
Hi Tone Great choices. Concerning Revolver ........ my picks would be And Your Bird Can Sing and I Want To Tell You to be left of and replace them with Paperback Writer and Rain. I don't like George's singing on I Want To Tell You. It is I Want To Teeeeellllllll You,. The word "Tell" annoys me, but Revolver is still my number two Beatles album. Let's keep our fingers crossed for Rubber Soul and Anthology being released in 2025. Take care
Great vid, great episode! A random question on your opinion of numbers of Beatle Studio albums: how many do you "feel" they are? I write "feel", as there seems to exist different views of this!!?? I, of course, claim them to be 11. YS and MMT can not count as "studio albums". MMT was released as double EP, and YS contain one side of George Martin's film music (very nice, though). The definition of a Studio album must be when a band goes into a studio with the purpose of recording an album. This was not the case for either of YS or MMT. MMT was a put together album consisting of the already released double EP and previously released singles. YS did have 4 new songs recorded as a means to fulfil contractual obligations...
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. Whilst I don’t disagree with your logic, since 1987 MMT has been adopted as part of the core canon. Personally i think its worthy with the track listing MMT is better as an LP than an EP. YS despite its lack of Beatles music has always been part of the core canon despite its lack being the weakest of all the albums. So if im doing a Beatles ranking i would include 13 albums
@beatleytonesbeatleschannel Well, we certainly can agree on disagreeing. I feel it's not a question of what the canon has evolved into, but rather what occurred at the time of recording. More objective than subjective. 11 it is. Anyway, thanks for your input!
Great fun Tone, and I obviously took issue with most of your choices! Your Martian in the pub story made me grin and reminded me that EMI refused to allow "Here Comes the Sun" on the 'golden disc' aboard the 1977 space explorer Voyager. Had they acceded to Carl Sagan's request we might already have made first contact... Now, where's my tin foil hat?
I had a picture disc of Sargent Pepper that I like although the sound quality not so good. Maybe I need to clean it up with the vynl cleaning fluid I got from Amazon!
