    I struggle with sunscreen. It’s painful to pay $35-$70 for a sunscreen, only to find out that it stinks, stings, or makes me orange. I wish there were sample sizes of every sunscreen, so that I could go in a store and choose different ones until i find the perfect sunscreen for me.

      The Isdin Eryfotona Ageless is the MOST underrated MINERAL sunscreen. I am a poc and can definitely say that this sunscreen is hands down the best mineral sunscreen out there. It doesn’t pill, wears very well under make-up and the best part, doesn’t leave a cast!!! It is on the pricey side unfortunately, but it is worth it.

    Sunscreen on its own has improved the look and feel of my skin, and I’ve learned that it might be a non sunscreen ingredient or maybe one particular filter my skin sometimes doesn’t like, especially if my rosacea is flaring up. If I use the treatment for rosacea then my tolerance of sunscreens in general improves. Sunscreen is great!

      I'm using it too. It's got a white cast, but I'm neutral cool and very fair and have a rosier face than neck. So the cast actually makes my neck and face match a bit more. In my life so far, I've had breast cancer and four moles removed, plus radiation treatment for the cancer, so I'm hyper vigilant about sunscreen.

I really wish Laroche Posey and Avene would trade their new filters so that we could have all the best filters in one sunscreen. Also hope K beauty can one day get a hold of those newer filters. Thanks Dr Dray! I love several of your favorites. I found your comments on DNA repair enzymes interesting. I’ve been using Photozyme DNA facial repair for about 11/2 years. I had several patches of light hyperpigmentation on my face. Nothing else in my skincare regime has changer but very slowly the hyperpigmentation has faded and now I can’t see most of it at all. I figure it’s worth using indefinitely and hopefully it’s helping to prevent sun damage. Yes, I still slather up with sunscreen every day. 😘

    Sunscreens really help!! But it really does take time to see a somewhat visible difference. At least 2 years of consistent wear I say. So to those new here or to sunscreen, please don't give up and be consistent!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I didn't get to try many sunscreens this year I think. At least didn't find any that I liked that I sticked with. Avene Intense Protect is great as always but it got sold out and the stores didn't restock them. I used A LOT of Garnier Ambre Solaire Hydra24/Eco-Design during the summer because it's really on the affordable side (17 ish dollars for 200ml). It's a shame the Hydra24 has fragrance though, it is not bad but occasionally was overwhelming for my sensitive nose. Dr G Green Mild Up Sun was a life savior this year!! Great of sensitive, dry and acne prone skin which is me!! Finally, I must give a shout out to Paula's Choice Ultra-Sheer Daily Defense SPF30. For a sunscreen that uses octocrylene and oxybenzone, it didn't sting my eyes or really irritate my skin and I really liked how light and watery it is! Paula's Choice Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF30 is nice too but I definitely prefer the Daily Moisturizing Lotion SPF30 due to how cooling the latter is for my skin.

    A question to Dr. Dray. What is your opinion on EWG ratings of skincare products? Majority of skincare products discussed on your channel are rated to be of moderate or high health hazard(including but not limited to skin cancer, indocrine system disruption, immunotoxicity, etc.). Some of the products contain talc (which is being mined with asbestos). I’m sure you all know what that means putting asbestos on your face. Flip over your favorite setting powder and read the ingredients, see if there is talc in there. I remember you once said that beauty industry creates a problem for us to offer a solution, which I completely agree with. I was wondering what your opinion on that: are most of these products really toxic and we should look for cleaner alternatives or is it all paid "propaganda"? Colorescience brand is listed somewhat moderate hazard, banana boat - high, most of physician formula - high, equate - high, Bobbi brown- moderate, shisheido- high, and many many more known brands that are on our countertops.What is going on? Are we all gonna die from cancer?

    Hi Dr. Dray - thank you so much for all your informative videos. I've been going back to basics & my skin has calmed down so much. I've noticed that a lot of sunscreens contain tocopheryl or Vitamin E in them (even the mineral ones) - an ingredient that was in all of the products (moisturizers, cleansers, etc.) that irritated my skin. I understand that it is an antioxidant but do you have any suggestions for sunscreens without this? I've been using the Paula's Choice CALM mineral sunscreen & while it doesn't burn, it leaves a white cast & I'm trying to look for some better ones.

    I'm using the Round Lab sunscreen, and on my skin tone it does have white cast here and there. It's more apparent if I end up reapplying that day. It also collects around my facial hair which makes the cast more apparent. I've also noticed it does that annoying thing where it collects on my upper eye lid, so it creates that line of stark white sunscreen lol. One big plus is it doesn't sting my sensitive eyes, which is important because I do apply around my eyes. Overall, it's worked best as a winter sunscreen for me as someone with oily skin. I remember trying it during the summer, and it was too shiny/greasy then.

    I have a question that’s important to me. It’s not from this video. It was a cleansing video, When you washed your face you avoided your upper lip under your nose area ( the mustache area if you will ) you didn’t wash it and you didn’t apply the serum to it. Can you tell me why? Or can anyone explain?

    I have been wanting to try the DRMTLGY sunscreen. I don't know why I have not since their moisturizers are a staple for me. The suncreen that I use the most is from ColorScience. I think ColorScience has been my favorite because of the tone. I wear it instead of makeup on most days. I also like Dr Jart which I can wear like a primer on days that I want to wear makeup. I find the Dr Jart is great for toning down redness in my skin.

    I love both the Drmtlgy Universal and Physical Sunscreens. I use the Universal one by itself and under make-up and the Physical one in lieu of foundation. The Universal stings my eyes if I use it when exercising outside in the sun so I have to be careful not to get it too close to my eyes. The Physical one needs to be powdered down because it doesnt dry down completely.

    • @karendykstra
      @karendykstra ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jc9371 it provides more coverage than the universal. In fact, I take it when Im traveling as my “foundation” because I like how simple it is. For a finished look, I might throw my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Finish or Bare Mineral’s Mineral Veil in my travel bag but dont use anything else if I am at home. I also have the Cerave Sheer Tint and the Drmtlgy Physical Sunscreen provides a little more coverage.

I wonder if you could please review Eucerin spf 100 actinic control and compare it to La Roche-Posay uvmune spf 50 from a protection standpoint. The Eucerin is claimed to be a medical grade sunscreen for people with actinic keratosis and light sensitivity disorders.
    a.) Which one of these would you say give the best cover for people who are looking for as broad spectrum cover as possible? b.) Especially if you struggle to reapply often enough and do not apply sufficiently. I would love to hear your view as it would be a great help to myself and other people with light-sensitive disorders and sufferers of hyperpigmentation. La Roche Posay always has alcohol in it. Even this new product has "alcohol denat." I am hesitating. Previously I used the fluid version that stings. The cream version stings less but still not very comfortable. So for this new product I really cannot decide. I am considering buying Eucerin. It is always very gentle for me. But I am not so confident about its sunblocking performance.

    • @sweetiegenie2036
      @sweetiegenie2036 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks d b! She said she reapplies sunscreen more than once while indoors. Didn't say a specific number though haha.
      I also just watched a video from Dr. Gaile Robredo-Vitas where she looked at a study of people who applied sunscreen indoors and took pictures of their faces after 8 hours. She also replicated the study on herself. Supposedly after 8 hours, there was a 28.3% decrease of the sunscreen.
      So from that number, it sounds like reapplying indoors isn't absolutely necessary if you applied the proper amount in the morning, unless you want to.
