The start those kids are getting is priceless. As a 20 year career mechanical engineer, I am still using what I learned welding in highschool in my work every day. Knowing how to take a concept and bring it to life is priceless.
Great leadership! If we had more teachers/mentors/coaches like this, America would be as awesome as Texas! God Bless Texas, and God Bless Boerne Welders! People need to understand true reality and where things come from. Kids - young adults - building with steel, learn where things come from, and learn about sweat, follow-thru, correcting mistakes, and how to start over after making a mistake. Razor edge confidence and arrogance, a much better position than the weak, scared, lost kids that enter adulthood from so many other places that shelter the kids too much, and allow them to believe Utopia is possible. There is no Utopia. We must make our world, and we all live a razor's edge away from failure.
I really enjoyed this story. This will be a great foundation for the students. The skillset has been planted. I pray they cultivate what was learned and do great things with this vocation. Great video.
I recently graduated from welding school and got my first job in the field. Instructors like him are why I've chosen to go into this field and hope one day to be a teacher to others who started out like me. You sir are a true ambassador to the profession and an inspiration to us all. Thank you for all you do.
This is one of the best stories I’ve ever seen congratulations to all these young people in the leadership and I’ve been under well done I really loved shop and I was in high school
Great to see a real useful & potential job. Shop classes were required when I was in high school. Both my brothers had wood shop & built pretty pieces of furniture. I don't know who decided to remove these classes but they were so wrong. These classes teach so much. Wonderful report from Boerne.
AAA education. That should be a mandatory class for graduation. The science, mathematics, discipline and communication skills learned there are applicable to any endeavor or profession a person will attempt after K-12.
I been reading the comments below and what sticks out when people say " we need more teachers like this" just makes me think u know we have them but the system is so upside down and assbackwards it has let these kids down...my Ag teacher Mr. Hand tried his best to teach me to weld and finally told me it's just not for everyone and me coming from a father and uncles that welded for a living. Lol my dad said no worries your grandpa couldn't weld either or stick a pig in the mud 🤣

ME, TOO!!!!!
I took metal shop in high school and that teacher taught us nothing about welding
Looks like he needs a TIG instructor. I'll come on board for 100$ per hour.
