    I was taught by a friend to always study or do homework right when you get home or to your special place you study. Grab a snack and drink, go to the bathroom, get comfortable and change but always do it sooner than later.

      Hey ChloeAnn! Apologies for the late reply. I so so agree with this advise! Starting is the hardest part. And if you can just throw yourself into your work first thing - you'll be shocked how productive you can be. And then you have some time to enjoy your evening! Thank you so much for sharing your advice!!

    Great tips! Also there’s the whole science about long term and short term memory, leading to “repetition, repetition, repetition”. After taking my notes in class, I like to review them as soon as I get home to help me remember and understand better!

    Hi,
    I've just discovered your channel and really enjoying hearing about your experiences! I'm going to be starting an MSc Nutrition & Food science in September. I wondered if you had any favorite resources for tackling difficult topics that you could recommend? Were there any particular topics that took you longer to get a grasp on?
    Any advice would be highly recommended, I am just trying to prepare myself for it now, as I will be studying part-time while working.

      Hey Shany! Sorry for the late reply - this comment fell through the cracks! Congrats on the start of your new program!! How exciting!!
      I personally, and I've also heard this from other students, think the medical/clinical side of dietetics is the most difficult. Like metabolism, o-chem, etc.
      TH-cam has surprisingly awesome, FREE study resources for all these things. I love watching Kim Rose in particular. The Academy also has great books that I think many don't even know exist! they have great handbooks. Hope that info helps!!

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the suggestion! The nutrition profession on an international scale is something I'm just not familiar with or comfortable talking about - I don't want to lead anyone astray. But as for the scopes, or various kinds of concentrations, that is interesting and something I'll consider!

    Hi! I'm planning on majoring in Nutritional Sciences, and I'm really not motivated to do chemistry currently and been doing bad on it. What is your biggest advise for students who don't like the class they are in? How do you stay motivated?

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My advice is remember that this class only lasts one semester. Just a handful of weeks, a few months. In the grand scheme of things, that’s such a small blip in your lifetime. If you’re passionate about the job, see this tough time as merely a stepping stone to where you want to go. It too shall pass.

    Did u dissect animals and cadavers at college?

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Grace! Every college and program will be different, but at my specific school we didn't dissect anything beyond a sheep's heart in Anatomy and Physiology lab. No cadavers or cats. In my experience, that's usually a med student thing.

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I'm going to school on the US west coast, but a lot of the great nutrition programs I hear about about are located in the midwest and on the east coast. The best masters programs are going to vary, based off of what nutrition specialty you want to go into. I suggest checking out eatrightpro.org - that's the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics website. They have all the info on becoming a nutrition professional as well as schooling!

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I always do my best to answer back! I know plenty of people who study nutrition but go on to do other things, including law and medical school. I've never heard of it as a BA, but getting a BS in nutrition is totally fine. Like I said, some people stop there and become a nutritionist, or use it as a stepping stone for higher education. Hope that helps!

    Do you have to remember EVERYTHING you learned? It's a lot...

    • @delanceydays
      @delanceydays  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Penelope! I don’t think so. Yes, you need to remember things for the test... but once you’re in the work field, the company/hospital/organization you work for will have their own standard operating procedures. You’re likely to be dealing with a specific population/disease/etc. So don’t worry! You need to be a generalist now, but things will get more specific once you’re in the field!

    • @ellilee8397
      @ellilee8397 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      IDK about you, but I'm terrible at remembering all the numbers so I just focus on getting a good understanding of physiopathology first. The good thing about evidence-based nutrition is that our nutrition recommendations have to be based on scientific publications and official guidelines, which are pretty easy to access online. So it's OK if you don't memorize all the protein intake recommendations for each age group and disease. If you just remember which academic societies' guidelines can be used as a reference, for instance ASPEN / ESPEN (for clinical nutrition), ESPGHAN (for pediatric nutrition), KDIGO (for kidney disease), you'll be able to get that information again easily.
